About this chalet rental

Located in an unspoilt corner of the French Alps, Chalet Vif is a perfect location for a winter or summer vacation, with breathtaking views over the Aravis mountain range.
The Chalet is built in traditional Alpine style on 3 floors with 4 bedrooms. There are 2 balconies, one off the main bedroom and one off the large lounge. The south facing aspect ensures plenty of sun and gives stunning views of the Aravis mountain range and the surrounding countryside.
The town is still very much considered a hidden secret within the French Alps with its lovely village shops, church, tree lined square and regular market. There is a thriving community throughout the year and the summers as much as the winters have become popular for outdoor sports and relaxing in the sunshine. The chalet has easy access to the ski lift network of Le Grand Bornand and Chinaillon, and La Clusaz is just a10-minute drive away. Nordic skiing is also excellent: Le Grand Bornand is a host of the Biathlon World Cup

Skiing: Over 200km of pistes skiing in the Aravis range. All types of skiing are available with pistes to suit all abilities including the 2nd steepest black run in Europe. Queues are rare and the area has a good snow record. Snow cannons extending the ski season which lasts from December 15 to April 15 but often open earlier and later. Direct access to the lift network is in the middle of Le Grand Bornand and the snow bus stops only a few metres away at the end of the lane, giving access to Chinaillon, La Clusaz and St Jean De Sixt. The area has 120 pistes, including 5 black, 30 red, 45 blue and 40 green runs. There are 98 ski lifts, 2 snow parks, 2 competition stadiums and night skiing.
The Aravis ski pass is great value and covers all the resorts in the area.

Summer Activities: A wide range of activities are available including mountain walks, parapenting, archery, trampolining, petanque, tennis, table tennis, mountain biking, horse riding, white water rafting, canyoning, hot air ballooning, fishing, karting and snooker.
There is an extensive outdoor swimming pool complex in the village.
Golfers are well catered for with a 9 hole course in Le Grand Bornand and several 18 hole courses within an hours drive.
The beautiful city of Annecy and its lake with beaches is only 40 mins away by car.

We stayed in the chalet for one week. It's on a nice location with good views of the skilifts Rosay and, a bit further, La Joyere. You can see the skislope that is running in to Le Grand-bornand. Skibus runs very close by, although taking the car is also very convenient. The chalet is spacious, with a garage, bedroom and small bathroom on the ground floor ( ideal for our teenagers) and three nice bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor. The sunny livingroom/kitchen is well equipped and spacious enough for the seven of us. We enjoyed the chalet very much and...had a little throwback in time when we discovered the "vintage" videotape player...now we were able to show our kids how we used to spend our evenings...pre-Netflix time.. Ian is a very welcoming host, replies very quickly when there's a question. Would def. recommend staying in Chalet Vif in beautiful Le Grand Bornand.

Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of comfortable seating. Lovely views from the balconies. Could have done with some more pillows for the beds. Short walk to village, quite steep, but fine if you take your time coming up. Village had a lovely atmosphere and there were different activities and nice places to eat. We had a lovely time, lots if walking and didn't need to use the car very much for the almost 2 weeks we were there.

Chalet Vif is close to the town; approximately a 15 minute walk (note that the walk back up is steep). The kitchen was well equipped and the living space was comfortable. We travelled with children and the 4th bedroom with bunk beds was on the garage floor, separate from the other 3 bedrooms which were located on the 2nd floor. We were a group of 5. Overall, a very comfortable stay.

Magnifique chalet très bien équipé et avec un superbe emplacement au milieu des chalets traditionnels. Terrasse sud et vue sur les Aravis inoubliable. Parfaite communication avec le propriétaire.

La vue sur la chaîne des Aravis est magnifique, le chalet est chaleureux, confortable et très bien équipé. L’accueil est très appréciable ainsi que la relation avec le propriétaire. Nous avons passé un super séjour en famille. Nous reviendrons.

Excellent séjour dans ce chalet idéalement placé avec une vue qui pousse à la contemplation. Les échanges avec le propriétaire sont réactifs et chaleureux. Nous avons apprécié la pièce de vie cocon donnant sur la chaîne des Aravis, les lits faits à l’arrivée, le confort de la literie, l’équipement de la cuisine Il y a bien sûr quelques imperfections : les portes des chambres sont assez difficiles à fermer, il n’y a pas de toilette au premier mais rien qui ne puisse modifier le très bon souvenir que nous garderons du chalet VIF

Chalet bien placé au calme. Cependant, l'intérieur est à rénover : les portes des 3 chambres ne ferment pas, car elles sont déformées et frottent le sol, donc bruyantes! sols étages abimés, pas de wc à l'étage des 3 chambres. la 4ème chambre est au sous-sol avec lits superposés et clic-clac obsolète, appareils ménagers (micro-onde, frigo) en mauvais état et bruyants. Ce qui fait un rapport qualité/prix élevé pour l'état général du chalet. Propriétaire absent mais réactif en cas de problème. Accueil sympa.

Nous avons passé un très bon moment dans le chalet de Ian, très cosy et confortable, à l’abri de la route et donc très calme. Nous étions 2 familles avec de jeunes enfants, l’espace offert par le chalet nous a permis de nous y sentir très bien. Malgré la météo capricieuse nous avons pu faire plusieurs balades, dont certaines au départ de la maison, par ailleurs il est également très facile de se rendre au village à pied (avec un joli point de vue sur le village lors de la descente).

nous avons passé un très agréable séjour dans ce chalet parfaitement équipé. Le chalet est idéalement situé sur les hauteurs du Grand Bornand avec la possibilité de se rendre à pieds au coeur du village. Il nous a offert une superbe vue sur la chaine des Aravis. Ian est très réactif et très accueillant dans les échanges par message. Je recommande cet hôte et serai ravie de retourner dans son chalet en famille pour un prochain séjour.

Un chalet conforme à la description: rien ne manque au niveau de l'équipement ,on a pu bénéficier d'un lit de bébé et d'une chaise haute en excellent état . Le contact avec le propriétaire est efficace et cordial. La vue sur la chaine des Aravis est magnifique quand il fait beau. Malgré la fermeture des remontées mécaniques... et le temps très pluvieux, toute la famille a tout de même pu faire de grandes ballades à pied ou en raquettes. Le village est effectivement à 10 mn à pied (descente), un peu plus fatigant à la remontée ...Une ferme située au dessus du chalet propose de bons fromages à déguster . Nous y reviendrons avec grand plaisir

Beau chalet, simple et adapté à ce que nous voulions. Environnement très agréable, beaucoup de neige. Départ de piste de raquettes et de ski de randonnée. Environnement gros village ou petite ville vivante, dans le respect de l`environnement.

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine de Noël dans le chalet de Ian accompagnés de nos ados et plus jeunes enfants. Nous y retournerons avec plaisir. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié l’équipement du chalet (très complet), les lits faits à l’arrivée avec des draps très agréables, ainsi que les serviettes de bain et les indications très claires pour accéder y accéder. L'environnement est parfaitement calme et idéal pour des vacances reposantes et ressourçantes.

Nous avons passé une Semaine dans ce chalet spacieux et très fonctionnel Situé à 900 m du centre, balade agréable via un chemin quasi à l’abri des voitures Il faut juste intégrer un dénivelé assez important qui rend la remontée plus sportive. La cuisine est bien équipée. A noter un beau salon et une belle chambre à l’étage avec balcon. Seul petit point critique est l’absence de jardin, si l’on est avec de jeunes enfants. Nous avons découvert le grand bornand qui est un village magnifique...nous reviendrons avec plaisir

L'emplacement du Chalet Vif est très bon : suffisamment excentré pour être au calme, mais à 15mn à pied des commerces. La vue est très belle. Tout est fonctionnel (à part la porte d'une chambre qui grince et se trouve difficile à fermer, mais on ne va pas se plaindre du bois dans un chalet !) La communication avec Ian John est très fluide. Nous avons aussi apprécié le changement de linge au bout d'une semaine. En conclusion, nous recommandons cette location.

L'accès à la location est très facile et facilité par les informations du propriétaire. Ce logement est bien équipé et pratique. 2 lampes au plafond de la cuisine ne fonctionnaient pas et dans la salle de bains principale le départ de la douchette fuyait. Malgré ces petits défauts, nous avons apprécié cette location avec une vue superbe.

Châlet douillet et confortable pour une famille. L'équipement est très complet, tant au niveau de la cuisine que du salon. Ian John nous avait donné toutes les informations nécessaires à une bonne installation. Nous avons passé une excellente semaine malgré une météo mitigée, dans les sources d'amélioration possibles, un éclairage plus soutenu pour la lecture dans le coin salon serait souhaitable. Dans les 6 appréciations pré-définies, je n'ai pu mettre que le maximum d'étoiles à chacune. Je garde cette adresse pour de futures vacances. Merci Mr John.

Nous avons adore le Chalet Vif et la communication avec Ian est parfaite. Le chalet est tres bien amenage avec un super equipement et est tres chaleureux. Nous avons adore notre sejour (7 personnes). Nous reviendrons.

We had a nice stay in this Chalet. Everything you needed was in the chalet. I certainly would recommend this to a friend or relative. Close to the village, close to the busstop, etc. We went to the cablecar by car. But is was only a 8 minutes drive. The view was very nice. We went to the restaurant Bohéme, really nice, good kitchen, nice staff. I really liked the fact that in the table (with window) you can find al kind of information about the village, things to do, restaurants to go etc. Thank you for the nice time!

This was our second visit to Chalet Vif. It is well located, well equipped and picturesque. Set in a beautiful, quiet location but with ski lifts a short car journey or bus ride away. Le Grand Bornand itself has a real traditional French feel with plenty of shops and restaurants. We look forward to visiting again next year!

We stayed at Chalet Vif for 2 weeks in August, and it was the perfect holiday. The chalet is clean, spacious, well equipped and located in a beautiful setting with stunning views of the mountains from the balconies. The village contains everything you could need and is a 10-minute walk away. We spent several days in the sun at the public outdoor pool, ate at the local restaurants, and bought our morning croissants from the local bakery. The chalet owners were in contact with us from the time of our booking, and were always on hand to answer any questions. A great experience overall, from booking through to the most incredibly relaxing holiday. I would highly recommend Chalet Vif and we will definitely be returning in the future.
