the golf course was good to play at
for a 5 star resort the facilities were not clean and completely un inhabitable with cockroaches inside the houses, poor cleaning of the bedrooms and bathrooms and a spa with dirt and bugs in it that looked like it had not been maintained for over a year. This was horrible value for money and I would not stay here again. it felt outdated and under maintained.

One of the best golf courses i have ever played. Very interesting, but challenging)))

excellent rooms for a very reasonable price

Fabulous location, lovely staff, gorgeous villas and pool. Very quiet spot and not too full of tourists, so we felt very pampered. Food was delicious, without exception, both at the breakfast and at the restaurants.
The food was a little expensive. Location was a little remote.

Great size of property. Great welcome service. Excellent pool area combined with a very good pool side dinning area. Quite with plenty of pool side loungers that did not require queuing ( perhaps the days we were there were quiet days ? ). Good experience overall, nice touch by Monte Rei to notice my birthday based on my passport ( Thank you ).
The pool side dinning, Veranda, was very good and we ate there twice.
The main bathroom shower area needed more cleaning attention, black growth around the bottom of shower and along the wall tiles. Not pleasant to look, at or shower in. Location is a bit more of the beaten track and you definitely need car to get around. Only 2 places to eat ( 3rd one is Michelin so not for every day eating ). The Grill we found disappointing on our first day, salad was bland consisting of some boiled vegetables. No dressing or taste. So avoided it for rest of our stay. The menu is same week in/week out as far as I could see so choice very limited.
Wifi was very poor. Router located in locked metal box is not going to help with wifi distribution.

Long distance to restaurant

Villa was excellent. Facilities in general were very good.
Vistas restaurant only offered a prix fixe tasting menu which was very expensive and full of "unusual" dishes that were not our favorite type of food. Plus took almost 3 hours. In fairness, we did not peruse the description or menu so we shoud have known better but would avoid in the future. Also, grill was average at best for appetizers. Lastly, golf course is a great layout but in disappointingly neglected shape. Greens were weedy, fairways patchy, carts older, pro shop woefully under stocked. All bad signs pointing to a lack of resources that makes us question long-term viability.

One of the best golf course i have ever played ( i played pebble b , Valderama , St. Andrews etc) and rooms are extraordinary
I totally agree that this place is extraordinary, speaking about the course and the rooms. Top level - for a top price. One of the best courses i ever played worldwide
What is mediocre to low is the restaurant the grill , as its needs urgently renovation and the food is way overpriced for the quality. You have to leave the resort with a car/taxi to find an alternative -as the other restaurant inside ( Vista) charges min 150 Euros per menu.
What made me mad is that you have to pay extra - if you want to exercise at the range and hit long shots, after ! your round (before is max one hour allowed). So even being a guest at that place , and paying the greenfee for your round , you have to pay extra 25 Euros , for one hour, so if you are an ambitious player you might have to pay 50-75 Euros extra on top of the green fee just for using the range afterwards. This i call a greedy rip off .
Especially as we were not informed before about this - booking the rooms and tee times it should be written , as its quite unusual. And you don’t find it on the website not even the the price for the greenfee. But what is written how great the practice facilities are :-(
I wanted to discuss this with the director of golf , Darren Griffith - explained the situation at the front desk , but never got a call back or a message. This shows me that they are more interested in glamour and image of the place , but not in real service to their guests.
But as most guests are average 70 and older , the willingness to complain gets smaller to low.

spacious villas and excellent service
4.5
everything. the calm and serenity of the place, the well trained staff who make every request seem like its no problem at all. beautifully manicured gardens and extremely spacious and private villa with all the mod cons. excellent housekeeping service.
its a bit of a trek to get to the property but well worth it.

Beautiful location, relaxing, and staff were amazing !
4.5
Spaciousness, cleanliness, quiet location.
Uncomfortable bed, distance from clubhouse (shuttle bus).
4.5
Villa was lovely, the ability to make the villas one, two or three bedrooms was really good. Staff were very helpful and polite. Food was delicious. Golf course was excellent and pool very nice.
Menu was quite limited so could get repetitive on a longer stay.

Everything.
The Menue in veranda.

Very nice resort, particularly if you are a golfer. The complimentary snacks at breakfast time (if you have not pre-paid for breakfast) was a nice touch with freshly squeezed orange juice delivered to our villa at 9am each day with some bread and pastries.
Location is a bit tricky - would 100% recommend their taxi driver (Silver) for all your driving needs. Wouldn't bother with a car if you are only leaving to go eat/drink
4.5
It's very quiet and calm even with most of the villas occupied. Perfect for families.
