We had a lovely stay at the Coach and Horses, very clean and comfortable, lovely breakfast and food. We where given a warm welcome. Everything was perfect. We managed to park our motorcycles on the road opposite the property which we could see from our room window. Parking was free from 5pm - 9am and we where given a disc from 9am-11am which is when they needed to be moved til 5pm. All day Free parking was available at a car park close by. We will definitely return if we are ever in the area again.

Lovely hotel with parking around. Spacious room, comfy beds, the only negative is that it was so warm. Couldn't leave the fan running overnight as it was noisy and couldn't leave the window open as was on to a fire escape which would have meant it was accessible from the outside. Bathroom was fab, loads of toiletries and good shower. Breakfast was freshly made to order and was very nice.

Could do with providing a shower cap. Apart from that, everything was fine

Eva was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room was lovely, recently refurbished and included little extras like toiletries and coffee, tea and biscuits which were a welcome addition. I would have loved to have stayed longer than the one night!

I work in Hexham every 3 months and struggle to find somewhere to stop within my work budget, the Coach and Horses was just right for me ,great hotel , staff really friendly and welcoming, the room and food was very good, I've only had the breakfast once when stopping here and its very good, parking can be tricky but there is and unsecured area to park across the road from the hotel ,would definitely recommend, and I will be stopping again

Current road closures make it difficult to access the hotel and parking is a fair distance.
Apart from this, an excellent stay with very friendly and helpful staff.
I would like to return when things are back to normal.

We had a great stay, staff very friendly and welcoming. Room was roomy and clean. Well worth the price. Breakfast the first morning was great, second morning not so good, had to wait over 30 minutes found out the breakfast is cooked in sister establishment. Would have like a couple of lounge chairs somewhere to sit and have a coffee sort from bar. Would definitely stay again.

We arrived at 4-15pm approximately and the whole of the premises was closed. A very pleasant lady turned up and asked us if we were guests. She then checked and let us in and showed us our room which was very pleasant. There was no food available at The Coach and Horses so the morning meant we had to go out looking for somewhere, which we did quite easily. The room was very good value for money and I would return there.

This Bed & Breakfast, or let we say just Bed, has less than an overall okay experience for me.
Aside from an okay room and bed, there was no cleaning and no breakfast at all.
It's alright if you want to stay a night and have no other expectations but I would ill advise anyone for staying here for any nights more.
I can only hope the situation will improve in the near future..

Couldn't initially check in as hotel locked (at 5.30 pm). Had to locate owner via asking locals. Ended up in pub over the road who contacted owner. Hotel sad, neglected. Carpets scruffy. Shower enclosure knackered. Room not tidied on day 2. We left after 2 nights as couldn't face the third night we had booked . Owner said hotel is to be refurbed into a boutique hotel, therefore we think owner has just given up. Truly awful.

Room was warm but a little tired no staff on site. The pub was closed and we had to elsewhere for food and refreshments.

May suit some who want to save money at the expense of comfort.
But basically it is poor, rubbish nearby as you walk in. Needs a major make over. Carpet in the toilet bathroom has to be a concern.

Difficult to be too harsh as the two ladies, possibly Mother and Daughter, are closing the place down. It is thought that it will be reopened as a retail outlet. General tatty feel about the place. No meals supplied; no WiFi. Disco in bar adjacent bedrooms,,

Dirty horrible and noisy only open Saturday and Sunday

Close all amenities. Room was nice but the mattress was too soft that you could feel the hard boards underneath.

Very difficult. I had to try many hotels / guest house before I found a motel on the Darlington road. I was thinking I would have to sleep in my car.

We booked 1 night bed and breakfast through Expedia. Arrived to be told we dont do breakfast, our dining room is closed. Room was fine, but the hotel bar had no beer ( just 1 lager pump operating) and no red wine, so we had to go out for an evening meal and a drink afterwards. The girl behind the bar suggested a pub up the road that did serve beer and was owned by the same people, but we went to the hotel just across the road (less than 50 meters away) for food and drink which was very good. There was a disco in the bar of our hotel but our room was just far enough away that it did not disturb us. The room and bed were comfortable and the shower was good (towels seemed to be almost brand new).We heard from a local that the hotel had changed hands the night before we arrived, so we guessed that the shortages were part of the handover process. Was it fair to take customers when the advertised facilities were not available. We dont think so.Free parking was also advertised, but this is on-street parking and is only free after 5pm and before 8am, except on Sundays (we stayed the Saturday night so it was OK for us, and we managed to find somewhere to have breakfast before we left the town.

The Coach & Horses owners were very welcoming and had gone some way towards making the room pleasing. The bathroom could really do with being replacing. The shower was an extension of the hose from the bath taps and was fitted onto the wall to the side of the bath as opposed to end wall as is usual. I found this rather dangerous. There were nice touches like shower and hand gel being provided but no bath mat or small towels? The cold water tap on the bathroom sink did not work and the basin was cracked and so on.Like wise the mattress, although the presentation of the bed looked as though it could be very comfortable. We only saw the B&B couple once and then we didnt see them again, we just left our keys on the table and left, as requested. We felt the room lacked care in many ways and would not choose to return there again.

Three night stay above a room used for discos on Friday and Saturday. Noise until midnight.
Full cash only amount required straight on arrival.

False advertising. There is no Parking, only on the street outside and that is warden patrolled and time restricted. There is no WiFi. Had to go to Whetherspoons in the town for that. Bar only opens when they feel like it. Restaurant looks to be permanently closed. Can't check-in before 4pm. As a biker I always look for somewhere with parking for the bike and WiFi to book next stop. Not the only one to fall for it as another group of bikers staying there fell for the same con. Room filthy, shower a bad joke. Mattress was a cheap and nasty foam thing on a wooden frame so slats dig into you. Milk for the tea/coffee in room was out of date and had turned to yogurt. Cups still dirty from last guest.
