location, the beautiful house
4.5 / 5.0
The location of this home is perfect, close to so many area attractions, but in a quiet little village that is like a serene escape. The kitchen was well appointed, the décor and updates charming. We made use of the pool and lovely garden. The hosts were warm and welcoming, and very responsive to messages and questions. We would ABSOLUTELY use this property again.
Honestly the only issues were quirks related to the fact that the property was built in the 1700s, which was part of its charm. The owners have made some tasteful updates and more are planned. No complaints!

We enjoyed the beauty and calm of the setting, in a rural hamlet on a hill close to Hastière. The quaint old house is beautifully vintage renovated, furnished and decorated, with all modern comfort (except for a microwave). Decent beds with lats below a medium-hard mattress, natural pillows and cotton duvets. Lovely shaded terrace next to the sloping garden that gives access to a great little swimming pool, well maintained and heated to about 25C (depending on the weather this could vary; we were there with sunny summer weather but no heatwave), surrounded by birdsong and shared only with the second guesthouse next door. Soundproofing between both houses is perfect, but you might want to know that most bedrooms look out over a chicken coop, and light sleepers might be woken up by the enthusiastic rooster. Two tv sets and all the kitchenware you may need (except for that microwave 🙂). Bring a large table cloth if you’re into that, and your own shower gel and shampoo. Finally, the owners are honest and dedicated, and speak several languages (at least Ned, Fr, Eng, De).
Personally it did not bother us as we are fit and mobile, but just for info: people with reduced mobility might find the fairly steep pathway that leads to the house daunting. It would certainly take some effort to wheel a stroller up and down it, and it is not suited for wheelchairs.

The house is spacious, very nicely renovated, decorated and well equipped. Anita and Marc are attentive and discrete hosts.
