About this house rental
This bungalow is in an amazing location! Hear the Waves! It is very close to the beach on a quiet alley without a beach view, but just over 1 block walk to the Seawall! We offer free daily beach setup with 2 chairs and an umbrella at Porretto Beach (6th-10th street-with free parking, 14th-16th street just-2 blocks from the bungalow, or 26-27th, during the Summer every day from Memorial Day to Labor Day 8:00 AM -5:00 PM, weather permitting). The Seawall runs along the beach in Galveston and we are lucky enough to have a crosswalk with a traffic light at the beach-front of our street! There is only access across to the beach every 6-10 blocks, so this is quite a luxury to cross immediately without having to walk 5 or more blocks down to a crosswalk. Additionally, this same intersection is a designated pick-up for the Galveston Island Trolley that rides all over the island and is only $1 per person!
This Carriage House is your perfect 2 bedroom 2 bathroom alleyway bungalow only steps from the Gulf waters, beach store shopping, restaurants, bars and still close to everything like; the Strand historical district, the Pleasure Pier, and Moody Gardens. It is a sister property to the very successful and highly renowned Beach house called the Blue Crab Bungalow. We own both properties and in the Fall of 2015 decided to make the Blue Crab Bungalow our permanent home, so this means we will be close (in the front house) if you need anything at all during your stay. We pride ourselves on making your vacation special! We enjoy being near our guests and able to respond quickly to any of their needs, since our vacationers are in the house just behind us with their own private fenced-in yard, patio, grill, and outdoor hose. It has a paved alley entrance and with its own 2 single car driveways, one paved and the other is a crushed red granite parking spot beside the bungalow. To learn more about the history behind Galveston's amazing Alley Houses please read "The Alleys and Back Buildings of Galveston: An Architectural and Social History." We also have a copy of this book in the house for you to peruse during your stay.
In the off-season (late 2014 early 2015) this bungalow was brought back to life and was finished just in time for Spring break and to start the vacation season! This house was originally a carriage house in the early 1900s before there were cars. The carriages for the front property on the lot would be parked underneath this secondary structure and there would be living quarters above that. We fully restored the bungalow but were able to leave the charm of the small staircase from the early 1900s. The staircase is small, but the personality of this bungalow is enormous! It is decorated in a tropical theme with vibrant colors and never lets you forget how close you are to the beach. The backyard is filled with tropical plants and palms. Use the grill and table with 4 outdoor chairs for a cook-out or just enjoy the sea breezes and listen to the waves. Whatever you decide to do this BeachSide Bungalow will make for an amazing stay on Galveston Island!
The bungalow is also close to wonderful restaurants in Galveston; Mosquito Cafe (14th) Sunflower Cafe (14th) and Shy Katz (16th) Pirate Island Bar and Grill (9th) Hotel Lucine Rooftop Bar (10th). You should check them out if you get a chance. It is also just over 1 block to Benno's on the Seawall for wonderful seafood as well!
I recommend you bring your bikes to the Island because anything you would want to do is all within cycling distance from the Beach-Side Bungalow! You can also rent bicycles just 3 blocks from the house in either direction. Try Pedego Bike Rentals first and the Island Cycle.
There are so many fun things to do on Galveston that are all within steps to just a few miles away. Many great beaches, entertainment, shopping, and miles of Gulf Coast beaches. Galveston’s festivals, special events, and attractions are enjoyable for all! Check the Galveston Island website to see what's happening during your stay. There is always at least one festival per month on the Island and ArtWalk downtown on Postoffice St happens every 6 weeks. Galveston has many enjoyable activities for single and family lives. Explore the downtown Strand area and ride horse-drawn carriages. Also don't forget to visit the Elissa (a historic sailboat from 1877) or the oil rig museum, both near the Strand on Pier 21. See a movie, bowling or enjoy many of Galveston's shops & art studios. You can rent bicycles, scooters, golf carts & Segways to enjoy the Seawall during all parts of the day or just walk the beach, which is only a few steps across the way. The stretch of Seawall located just out from the house also offers Jet ski rentals in the Summer as well as chair and umbrella rental which is included free with the bungalow booking (including 1 umbrella and 2 chairs, but can add additional chairs and shade at a discounted rate) directly from Porretto Beach!
Many people also come to fish on one of Galveston's many piers (2 of which are just a couple blocks from the house) or charter a boat for more exciting catches. There are plenty of hidden coves and waterways to explore for your next fishing trip. Take the kids to Schlitterbahn, Galveston Island's amazing water park, or the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier (only 10 blocks away) which hosts many rides, games, and activities for all to enjoy as well as food at Bubba Gump's restaurant. Live Bands play on the end of the pier during the summer night weekends. Galveston has much to offer and explore and our home is right in the middle of all you could dream to do... it just needs you :) We also offer free wifi and Direct TV.
Remember, we are always close if you have any questions or issues during your stay. Feel free to contact us at any time! We look forward to sharing this amazing home with you and your friends and family!

This was a great spot for our weekend. Walking distance to the beach & restaurants. The house was just as described, had everything we needed.

This house was perfect. It was one of the cleanest homes Iv stayed in. Although I didn’t take my pets it is pet friendly but don’t that deter anyone from renting. You would never even know it was pet friendly. My family & I will book this one again in the future

Although Category 1 Hurricane Beryl disrupted Galveston Island utilities, and subsequently shortened our stay, the Beachhouse was bright, colorful, cozy & quaint. Jeanna & Troy were the perfect hosts supplying generator power to keep refrigerator items cold & charging stations available; as well as, extra towels & linens when requested.
The house is perfect for a family of 5-6, and I would recommend the house for your next stay. I know we will keep the listing for future stays.

Great location. Close to beach. Great communication and quick responses to any questions/concerns. However, floors could be cleaner, there is a very narrow stairway noted and bugs/ants present. Overall it was a great stay!

My girls and I loved this bungalow! It was within walking distance of the beach and had all of the amenities and more that we could need for our stay. Definitely recommend!!!

Perfect stay! The location is awesome and literally a block from the beach. Clean, quiet, and all aligned with the VRBO add, which often doesn't. The host was very responsive and we even stayed an extra night. We really appreciated that since we were there for our daughter's 4th Birthday! Even our fur babies loved it! I would highly recommended this place! We will be back, hopefully in September!

My wife and kids wanted to get away for a few days and we found the perfect spot. The house was very close to the beach and we could access it within walking distance. It was close to great restaurants and the historic downtown. We are definitely going to book again. The house had all the amenities we needed. Easy communication with the owner made an easy check and check out process.

We enjoyed our time here exploring the beaches and restaurants of Galveston. Every single person I encountered here was friendly and welcoming. The history of Galveston is also worth exploring. Our little bungalow was perfect for us. It had everything we needed.

The house is about a block to the sea wall. Great location! House is clean and tidy. Very pretty too. I loved the fenced in back yard. Peace of mind with my dog. Area is very safe for walking…so many flowers in the neighborhood that makes for a nice walk about. I would stay again. The owners communicate well and excellent directions.

Rugs need to be secured down. Very slippery & could cause tripping.

This unit has great access to the beach (very short walk), and we really enjoyed the private yard which has table, chairs and umbrella. Full size kitchen well equipped. Highly recommend.

Super cute, has private yard, and very clean. Conditioner pumps don’t work but everything else did. Beds are very firm. We would come back.

My college age daughter and I brought our little dog for a spring break getaway. This was a perfectly appointed, comfortable stay with a fantastic location. The dog was welcomed, but also figured out how to get thru the fence to go visit the main house.Jeanna was great with recommendations, responding very quickly. Would be back if we were in Galveston again!

Very clean, very quite neighborhood but only 2 blocks walk to the beach . Definitely a lot more privacy than you would have in a motel. Maybe a 4 minute drive to our favorite beach.

Stayed four nights at this impeccably clean and charming property, which happens to be a historic Galveston alley house. Neighborhood was quiet and safe, 2-3 minute walk to the beach. Thick memory foam mattresses were a pleasant surprise for us, after long beach walks and exploring the Island. Planning to return annually to this home as it was perfectly convenient and lovely!

Jeanna was the best communicator and so helpful! She was always available if I had questions, and have the most detailed instructions.
The house was clean, adorable, and a great location. We were close to everything, included the beach!

The history and uniqueness of this property made it so special for my friends, husband and me during our stay. It was the perfect size for four adults, always quiet & relaxing, too. Plus, the location was just perfect for everything we wanted to do as well. It was close to the SeaWall, some fabulous restaurants, Bishop's Palace, the free ferry, the Strand, cruise port, etc...We loved the theme of this Vrbo and were wondering what the walls would say if they could talk. All of us would love to see pics before the renovation of the carriage house. Thank you for sharing your property!

This small two-story charmer is tucked away in a neighborhood, but only two blocks from the beach and a quick drive from the Strand. Lots of privacy, but the owners offer great communication and attention to detail. All the amenities, plus a small patio and grill make this a great headquarters for a long beach weekend.

Great stay. Stairs to bedrooms could be limiting to elderly or disabled. However, no problem for us.

We had a wonderful time at the beachside bungalow. The weather was cool and rainy, but it didn’t matter. We still had a wonderful time and everything went great no complaints and we would definitely stay again.

My husband and I decided on an impromptu holiday getaway to Galveston, our favorite spot, in between Christmas and New Year and we wanted a small, quiet, pet-friendly place to stay that was near all of our favorite places.
From the ease of check in, the detailed instructions to find the bungalow and the absolutely cute house and proximity to a morning walk on the beach with the pups, the property met all our needs!
The size, cleanliness, amenities and location of thr bungalow were absolutely perfect for a couple looking for a relaxing time away! Perfect for our needs and since they are dog-friendly (with reasonable expectations), we didn't have to board over the holidays!
We would 100% stay again and 110% recommend to others.
Thanks for an amazing, rejuvenation and recharging week at your adorable bungalow!

The house is tiny but prime! Had all needed amenities for our small family trip, and perfect location. The option to bring dogs was super helpful so that we did not have to board them and could give them a taste of the beach

We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and being close to beach and restaurants. Yard was a big plus for my dog and very pleasant to just hang out and enjoy.
Oh and the mattress, gets a A+!

We absolutely loved the place. It was clean clean. We had plenty to do. We walked everywhere along the beachside. Watched the waves roll in. Doctors orders i couldn't enter the water but i was okay with it. The water was amazingly clear. The carriage house was adorable and exactly like the description. I accidentally took a wash cloth which i will return today bc we are heading to the beach again. I give it a 5 bc thats as much as they will let me. Safe neighborhood so don't fret about that. We never seen the host so those who think they will constantly bother you nope not even once. Thanks for letting us stay at your place. Your place was perfect. Wished we could of stayed longer at your place.

We loved this adorable unit. Nicely decorated and very CLEAN.
We had a short walk to the beach and went several times. We really appreciate the ability to bring our dog, Rocket, who was introduced to waves for the first time!
If you're looking for a dog-friendly unit that's both clean and close to the beach, choose this one. The owners have done a great job with the property!!

It advertised parking available inside gated yard. Not true. Further, we were told we would have access to a pet-friendly beach with beach chairs and umbrellas provided. Not true after Labor Day. Pet-friendly dolphin excursion does not operate weekdays after Labor Day. We were expected to strip the beds, wash dishes, and put them away. We shouldn’t have to do their chores AFTER LABOR DAY. We paid a cleaning fee.
