We loved our stay at the Okra Inn! Plenty of space for our whole party and located right in the heart of New Orleans. I would definitely stay here again

The house is very large and perfect for my extended family. This was our second time renting the Okra Inn. It probably won't be the last.

We housed a total of 22 family members between the 2 properties we rented. The Mid-City location was close to everything. The properties had all the charm of the old shotgun style houses typical of New Orleans.

Great central location near public transportation or easy to drive around. Wonderful, helpful hosts. Charming accommodations with everything a large group could want (kitchen and a place to hang out!)

Lindsey’s property was perfect for our large group. With 6 bedrooms and 3.5 baths it was a perfect accommodation for all of us. Beds are really comfortable and bathrooms are clean. We rented the whole house and enjoyed having access to all the space her house provided. Great location being so close to restaurants and bars and a Walgreens is a stone throw away if you need anything. Lindsey was a great host and a was willing to accommodate our check in and check out times and checked in to see if we needed anything. She also had some really wonderful suggestions on dinner and what to do in the area. Definitely check out Katie’s just 4 blocks down, best charbroiled oysters. The noise level was mild with it being closer to some bars but only if the patrons were being extremely rowdy, you couldn’t hear the noise in the rooms at the back of the house.
The street car is very close and easy to use, Lindsey gave us great advice to download the app which made buying tickets easier. It’s not a very long ride and does have AC. I would definitely come back k and suggest this property to any large groups visiting NOLA!

This was a delightful home for 11 of us to enjoy during our Jazzfest stay. Hope to be back again next year!

The set up was just what we needed. Great location as well. Lots of restaurants to walk to. Unfortunate for us the city decided to tear up the sidewalk in front of the house and along the street. Not the fault of the owners as they have no prior warning when they will work. We made it work but it caused an inconvenience that couldn’t be helped.

The property was exactly as described by the owner and the commenters. It is situated in the best location to see all of your favorite sights without the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas (Bourbon Street). We were able to walk to great restaurants in the area and the local bar The Red Door which stays open just about all night. Hands down it was the best time I've had in NOLA in a long time.

House was perfect for a large group looking to spend most of the days out and about. Short Uber ride to Uptown, French Quarter, I would definitely recommend staying in Midcity at the Okra Inn. Lindsay had some good recommendations and was accommodating in her responses. Would definitely recommend.

The duplex suit over family of 4. We originally had 7 coming, but thanks to Omicron, we only had 4, so had lots of space. Great location and loved the trolley. Easy communication with owner. Thanks for all!

We loved this house! Our family had plenty of beds and room, and lots of space to just hang out. The cool kitschy decorations were perfect for the New Orleans vibe. We really loved the location, being able to walk to Old City Park, and many great restaurants. So close to the trolley although we ended up using Uber more.
We would definitely recommend staying here!

This location gave us an opportunity to spend time in a non-touristy neighborhood in New Orleans. The house is fun, eclectic and comfortably houses large families or groups. Great restaurants, and street cars within 1 block. Groceries and other types of shopping within 3 blocks. Owner very helpful and easy to contact.

The Okra Inn was the perfect home base for my husband’s New Orleans birthday trip. Plenty of room and well stocked. We were able to spend quality time with our guests at the house and enjoy the local neighborhood vibe and then easily jump on the streetcar to get to the French Quarter. The streetcar runs 24 hours and you can buy a day pass for $3 or a one way trip for $1.25. We can’t thank Lindsay enough for her hospitality! We will definitely be back!

Right next to a streetcar stop and a Walgreens! Walking distance to restaurants, bars, and grocery stores. Amazing old house with so much room for large groups. Lindsay was so sweet.

We brought a big family reunion into Mid-City and The Okra Inn served us so well as a home. It had all the amenities we could want and was smack in the center of a vibrant and lovely neighborhood. Plus extremely convenient to bus/streetcar to access Uptown/Garden District/Quarter/Bywater. Hosts are the sweetest. So pleased. Would absolutely book again.

We had a wonderful family vacation in Lindsey"s very comfortable home. It was a very convenient walk to the trolley stop and an awesome bakery that she had recommended. Everything we needed was there and if we needed something, Lindsey was readily available to help with whatever it was. There were 9 of us this trip and could easily have added a few more and still been very comfortable. The beds were very comfortable, the decor very homey, everything very clean and we would definitely stay here the next time we visit New Orleans!

Lindsay, the owner, was a very great person and helped me from the beginning from booking to check out. I told her we were coming for a bachelorette weekend, and she was very helpful with allowing us to rent both sides of the house. Everything was perfect! We had plenty of space for 12 ladies! We had a blast exploring the city and also had a fun bachelorette party at the house! The location is very convenient to downtown as well as to surrounding cities! I would definitely stay here again!

The Okra Inn was adorable. Perfect spot, close to street car. We never moved our car the entire stay. Lindsay was super sweet. Would definitely stay again.

Booked the entire duplex for a cousins 30th birthday bash! Was enough room for 11 of us. I will never forget this trip. The decor was cute and interesting. Was able to ride the streetcar down to Bourbon Street and the French Quarter in about 15 minutes. Walgreens is right across the street and Winn Dixie (grocery store) is only a few blocks away. There were enough linens, beds and cooking utensils for us to make breakfast for everyone Saturday morning. I only slept for about 4 hours but I slept very well. I will book again in the future.

We rented both sides of the house for a group of 13 ladies. Having it split in two sides was convenient and made us feel less crowded. Plenty of place to sleep and hang out downstairs. It was a little hard to get to. For some reason our gps took us a couple blocks down. Felt like we were in a safe area and super close to downtown without having to pay downtown prices. It rained really hard when we were there and the electricity went out as we were on our way out to dinner, but Lindsay was responsive and called to let us know that it was turned back on. She was also flexible with checkout time. We would come back to the Okra Inn!

We fit perfectly in the Okra Inn with a total of 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. We had a wedding to attend in New Orleans and stayed in this rental for nearly a week. Rented one minivan but the location was so perfect as public transportation to the French Quarter was very accessible. Everyone in our family was very happy to be close to the neighborhood Gelato shop, an Italian Restaurant, Walgreen's, a grocery store and the City Park was within a mile away with a track to keep our joggers happy! The house was very comfortable. Lindsay was also very accessible if we needed anything. Very nice decor--New Orleans style! Fun porch to sit on! Beds were comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed at the Okra Inn for my sisters 30th Birthday. We had more than enough room for the 9 of us. We really enjoyed our stay at the Okra Inn and absolutely Loved the location! Only a street car away to the French Quarter, a lot of great food around the corner. Went to Brown Butter for brunch and the food was absolutely amazing! Bevi Seafood also has great seafood. There's a Walgreens around the corner which was convenient and also Winn Dixie and Rouses about 2 blocks away. Definitely recommend this place.

Location is great. Easy to use public transportation. The neighborhood has a lot going on. House was clean with a ton of character.
5.0 / 10.0
We had the best time at the Okra Inn for the weekend! It was close to everything: a block from the Canal St. streetcar that was a few minutes from cemeteries and about 20 minutes from the river, two blocks from Rouses grocery store, and a block from the Carrollton streetcar that was a few minutes to City Park. We also walked our dogs through the neighborhood or to the park several times during our stay with no trouble other than a little traffic to deal with getting to the park.
This was our first time staying in Mid-city, and the neighborhood was perfect for us. Not too rough or too fancy, free and ample street parking, and lots of great restaurants nearby (PS for a late night snack, the calzones at Wit's Inn across the street were great!). Like most in the area, the house was beautiful! Having the different patios to enjoy the October weather was lovely. The kitchen can only really accommodate one person cooking, but it had everything we could need for our stay. Also the beds were comfortable!
I would definitely stay here again if it's available on my next trip!

I had a wonderful stay at the Okra Inn. Although I'm originally from New Orleans I haven't lived there for 20 years, and I don't get to visit often, however this was just the right mix of what I remember and what I expected. Easy access to the streetcar made our car unnecessary. Everything we wanted or needed was nearby or a short ride away... I'll be back next year!

What a great find! We needed a place with 3 bedrooms and a common area so this was ideal. When traveling we like to experience a city from a less touristy point of view, so staying outside of the usual tourist areas is a plus for us. It was an easy walk to 2 Canal St. streetcar lines, there was ample, free street parking, a couple of really good restaurants in walking distance--Katie's and Rue 127. There is a Walgreens across the street for the last minute needs and a grocery nearby. The house is very cute, decorated in New Orleans style--eclectic artwork, Mardi Gras beads, etc. 2 bedrooms up, one downstairs. Full bath upstairs. Our host, Lindsay, was pleasant and responsive every time we were in contact, and she lives next door. She left the beer, wine, and unopened milk and juice that a previous guest had left instead of dumping it, and her interest in sustainability shows. It is an older house with a few manageable quirks (sticky front door and slow drain) and some street noise but I would stay here again without hesitation.

We had a wonderful stay for Mardi Gras 2014. Checking and out were very easy, and Lindsay was available for our questions. The location could not have been better for ease getting to and from the various parades and attractions. All items needed for our stay were available in the home, or within an easy walk which made it a wonderful stay for our families! Cant wait to return!

This home was ideal for our NOLA visitl. We needed a place where 6 to 7 people could gather for coffee in the am and a Christmas day meal. The bedrooms were comfortable and private. The bathroom upstairs was lovely and it was convenient to have a half bath on the main floor. We did some porch sitting and walked to a lot of places. The convenience to the grocery store was outstanding. Very pleasant arrival and meeting with the owner and she always responded quickly to our questions.
