Our group loved our time here! Lots of space! Beautiful property! Very responsive host!

We had a great stay here. Exactly as described. We loved to spread out and rest after our busy days. Felt even more spacious with the two story ceilings. So neat being on the Mississippi. Convenient location being in between Nauvoo and Carthage which were what we came to see. Friendly hosts. Thanks for the good memories

The house is lovely with great proximity to Nauvoo. Owner was easy to get in touch with. We enjoyed our stay.

We were so grateful to stay in this beautiful house. It is surrounded by forest on three sides, and the Mississippi river on the other. What an amazing view and what a beautiful home. The home has such beautiful, big windows that let in so much light and happiness. The kitchen was well equipped, and the house was clean, tidy, and beautifully decorated. The upstairs bedrooms were Themed, which made it fun for our kids to choose their favorite room. We will definitely stay here again.

The mansion was just that! The pictures do not do justice to the actual home. Clean, orderly, beautifully appointed and nice environment. We lacked nothing and our morning and evenings together in the mansion were memorable. The location was ideal, located halfway between Nauvoo and Carthage. Easy access to stores in Keokuk was a nice affordance. My brothers and our wives get together each year. This was by far the nicest place we have stayed! Anyone spending time in Nauvoo should stay here.

The host was kind and accommodating.
This place is indeed laid out like a mansion, and the 13 of us had plenty of room to gather or spread. The rooms look neat and kept in order. We enjoyed the ping-pong table, and the deck (after applying deet against bugs, it's a common Mississippi blessing).
There are signs of neglect, though. The driveway could use a load of gravel on the steep section so cars won't get stuck. The plants around the house could use a trimming. We found mouse droppings inside. The WiFi didn't work. If you don't mind some roughness in your experience you'll enjoy the place.

The property is fairly well maintained. There was some confusion on the checkin process (they were transitioning to a new security system), but we managed. There was quite a bit of dust etc. on the ceiling fans and the windows were quite dirty. Overall, very comfy and easy to feel at home. The grill was very nice and functional. The kitchen was well equipped with appliances and tools (difficult to find sometimes - not surprising for a rental, but well furnished). Knowing that the property owner no longer lived on the premises, I planned for delays in return messaging, and it worked out fine. Responses were within a day or two. As recommended on the website, if you have any questions, ask ahead of time and be prepared.

We had a wonderful stay! Beds were comfy, place was clean. Convenient location to the Tri State Rodeo, which is why we went.
Would definitely stay here again!

This was a great place to stay for us. There was an issue with hot water the first day and it was fixed the next day. They were very responsive to us and had great communication. We had room to spread out and a large kitchen to fix meals in. We also had a large table to play games at when everything in Nauvoo shut down. I would recommend this property.

Outside impression is very nice. However, garage and downstairs were messy and in need of maintenance. The big crack in the kitchen cabinet top, missing divider between cabinet doors , bad finish on the dining room table, and door to outside with no deck detract from the overall appearance. We did have a good time and were comfortable.

We were in the area for our daughter's wedding at a nearby venue. The home is large and as pictured. There were plenty of towels and the kitchen was well-stocked with cookware and dishes. The view of the Mississippi River is a nice plus. That said, we had several struggles with the owner. He is older, forgetful, and spends winters in Hawaii so the time difference makes communicating very difficult. Three weeks prior to our trip, and weeks after our reservation had been confirmed and paid for, he called to cancel our reservation saying he had double-booked the property. After much panic on our part, he "worked out" the problem so we could keep our reservation. I don't know what we would have done otherwise because it was too last minute to change travel plans.
Also, within an hour of checking in, the owner called to inform us that there was no internet. Apparently a mix-up with the arrival time of the tech had prevented it from being installed. Rather than rectifying the problem by re-scheduling the installation, (or even apologizing), he suggested that we get a hotspot on our phone plan. That was an added expense we did not want to incur, especially since the property is advertised as having internet. Without internet, none of the TV's work (at all). We did happen to bring an HDMI cable and adapter which helped, but cell service in the area is unreliable as well so streaming quality was quite poor. We asked several times for him to reschedule the installation and offered to allow the tech access to the house during our stay but to no avail. We had a similar problem with the fireplace. It does not work. My inquiries about it were simply ignored.
Easily-accessed parts of the home were clean however, the whole house needs a deep cleaning. The windows are very dirty, covered with bugs stuck in spiderwebs, the stairs had not been vacuumed prior to our arrival and it was obvious they hadn't been for some time. Carpets throughout the home are in desperate need of cleaning. There is a plethora of silk plants and trees and all are very dirty. We also found mouse droppings in the master bedroom closet. We had to wash pans and dishes prior to using them because they were either covered with a greasy film or didn't come clean in the dishwasher.
Overall, we would suggest careful and detailed communication with the owner prior to booking and actual travel to make sure what you are expecting is what you will get.

This was a great place for our family of 11 to stay at while we hunted geodes during Geodefest. There was plenty of room for everyone to hang out, plenty of beds and enough bathrooms for us all. Check in and check out were very easy. The back porch was a nice place to sit and visit. We're already planning on booking this same house for next year.

The house was very accommodating, we loved all the room and had a nice stay. It’s a beautiful home. The owner let us check in a few hours early since there wasn’t a family checking out ahead of us. There are beautiful close by places to stop and enjoy the river and the views of the river from the house is beautiful. The kids loved the ping pong table and we had a great time! Cons. There are tons of wasps, wasps nests all over the outside of the garage area. Have to pick your bravest to open the door. My daughter is allergic, so every time we left we’d have to make sure the garage door was shut before she got in the car, she couldn’t be outside the house. We did advise the owners, but maybe with the short notice they couldn’t act, but I would think the people that clean should have advised them. There is not a stalked pantry. The grill not only didn’t have propane, but it was so old and rusty you wouldn’t be able to use it anyway. Wish I would of known and we would of brought our portable. So we had all this food to grill and couldn’t. We ended up buying another portable. There are not enough towels. This being said, I would still stay again and we had a lovely time.

Beautiful home right on the Mississippi that was perfect for two families. There was plenty of room for us to spread out. The 15-minute drive to and from Nauvoo each day was stunning. There were just a few very minor things I would suggest for improvement:
1. The garage (where we parked our cars) was disgustingly full of dead and live bugs and spiders. It would take just a minute for cleaners to blow most of them out with a leaf blower.
2. I wish the owner had provided shampoo in the bathrooms
3. The hot and cold water was reversed in the shower of the master bathroom
4. Internet was too slow for high-quality streaming. It was probably just the area.
5. There were a few "slightly damaged" things (like melted surface on one of the kitchen tables, a toaster that did not work at all, etc.) that were not reported in the inventory list. I was worried we might get charged for them.
We loved staying in this beautiful home and would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

Awesome place to stay. Clean, comfortable, just plain amazing. We stayed here with a large group of 10 people had plenty of room.
Owner was very helpful and easy to get a hold of.

We gathered here from 3 states to celebrate our 2 year old granddaughter’s birthday. This was a beautiful property and a perfect fit for our family! This might have been the cleanest home we have rented. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We were blessed to rent this beautiful property for an extended New Year's weekend. It was a serene setting on a hill overlooking the lake. We enjoyed relaxing indoors, as well as exploring the quaint downtown of Nauvoo and sledding nearby, as well as in the backyard. Our hosts were very gracious and accommodating to our family. It was such a precious time to make memories and start the new year with anticipation. This would make a wonderful get away for other families looking for a respite from the stress of a pandemic. My only recommendation would for fellow winter guests to prepare for potential snowy weather by bringing extra shovels, salt to melt ice, and sleds. In such peaceful, small towns, it can be harder to find these items in stock nearby. Thankfully, the hosts contacted us ahead of time to let us know that snow removal was not included, so that we could try to better anticipate the weather.

We were 9 adults staying together for the first time. This house gave us space to be together and space to ourselves.

This was the perfect house for our reunion in Nauvoo! Both adults and kids were happy and entertained in this home! Thanks for helping to make our reunion a success!

Spacious house. Great view of Mississippi River. 15 mins drive to down town Nauvoo. Located in Hamilton, IL. Use google map to locate the house. We had a harder time finding this house because we thought it was located in Nauvoo. Mailing the house key back on the day of arrival was a bit inconvenient, but Post Office is in down town Nauvoo. We had a great time there.
4.7
We stayed with 2 families together. Plenty of room for everyone. Easy to find. Extremely close to Nauvoo. The nicest folks own it. When we needed to get in touch with them, they took care of things right away. Very clean. Well stocked. We had an RV so if you're travelling with one as well, be aware that the driveway in is steep, but doable.

This home is beautiful and in an incredible location. It is spacious and very clean and comfortable. We are so grateful to the owners for allowing our family to experience Nauvoo in a way that would not have been possible otherwise. The sunsets and the fireflies were our favorites.

The house was perfect for our family reunion. The owner was helpful and wanted to make sure we were satisfied. Our family members loved our time at this property.

Loved this house. Spacious and fun for a large family. Also loved the location, close to Nauvoo and other towns with groceries and restaurants. Very well kept up house.

Was the listing description accurate regarding the location, layout, amenities, etc.? Yes. There are six bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, two living rooms, two dining rooms, 3-car garage, and a huge partially finished basement. The home faces the Mississippi River (great view). Unfortunately it rained each day during our stay, and while the (outdated) tube TVs have Roku with Netflix, there was no over-the-air TV.
Was the property clean and well-maintained? It was acceptable, but a house of this size requires a lot of labor to clean and maintain well. The bedrooms and bathrooms were cleaned well. There is some black mold in one of the second floor bedroom closets. The bucket underneath indicates that the owners are aware of the issue, but it must be dealt with correctly and immediately to eliminate a larger problem. While it is important to address the mold, it is also in a corner of a walk-in closet and does not interfere with living space. The exterior of the home needs some TLC, mostly as a result of using wood trim instead of PVC. Overall, however, it is a wonderful and large home for a family get-together.
Did the owner provide good customer service? It was acceptable, but effort was required to book the home. It would help if inquiries were responded to faster. The owner did a great job of providing information about the home and the area.
Would you recommend this property to your friends or relatives? Absolutely without hesitation. It is a great place to gather with family. We hope to come back again, and we will definitely refer others to stay at this home and visit Nauvoo. There were fourteen of us (seven adults, seven children), and we had plenty of room to spread out. The layout of the home is a good mix of open space and private space. The value is incredible.
What activities, attractions, and restaurants did you like or dislike near by? Nauvoo is a great place to visit with family. The historical LDS buildings and activities are free and delightful for all ages, providing entertainment for at least one full day. There is a Hy-Vee and Wal-Mart in Keokuk (five miles away) for groceries, and a variety of places to eat.
