About this house rental
Please be advised that postHurricane Helene the lake access is closed until further notice. This fully remodeled 1940's lakeside retreat is the perfect escape. One step into the front door and you immediately feel like you are walking on water. The home has an open floor plan; on the main floor, which is easily accessible by the parking area is the living room, kitchen, laundry, and two bedrooms.
The main level living room has a large queen sleeper couch for extra guests. The living room has a nice area to play board games or sit back and enjoy your favorite book, or grab the binoculars for bird watching.
The master bedroom is equipped with a king size bed as well as a gorgeous private master bath. After a long day of playing in the sun, come in and stand under the rain shower in the master bath. The additional bedroom on the main living floor has the original hardwood floors from the 40’s and boast a comfy king size bed. The private bathroom will not disappoint, it has a large soaker tub plus a rain shower.
The kitchen has all stainless steel appliances and is fully equipped for those home cooked family meals. It offers a large bar for seating along with a farmhouse style sink that reminds you that you're in the south! From the kitchen there is a formal dining room area that has the original 1940's fireplace with newly outfitted propane logs for those chilly nights. The dining room has enough seating for 8 comfortably, with additional chairs offered if needed.
On the lower level, there is a second living room with a large TV for gaming or sports, along with a nicely equipped kitchenette with an additional fridge and sink. The lower level has two additional bedrooms each with queen beds and both bedrooms have private baths as well. One of the lower bathrooms has a vintage claw foot tub dating back to 1911, what a nice way to end the day! From the lower level you can access the private six-person hot tub to relax and enjoy those starry nights. You can also access a large covered porch with its own private bar.
While mountain lakes are known for lots of steps, this property is easily accessible with just 8 steps from parking to the front door or a side yard ramp as well. From the house there are multiple ways to access the lake from the lower level as well as the upper level. We hope you are ready for some water activities on your vacation. The house comes with a 22 ft. pontoon boat, 2 standup paddleboards, and a slew of floating chairs and aqua toys. While at the waters edge this house has what Lake Lure is known for the classic jump off boat house and this one will not disappoint with its 12 foot decent into the water. After enjoying the lakes amenities there is a nice hot/cold outdoor shower to rinse off and recap the days adventures!
We do require that guests present a pontoon boat security deposit upon arrival for the protection of the homeowners. This will be in a check form and shredded after pontoon boat check in if there is no problems. At this time, we will be requiring all future guests upon arrival to provide a security deposit in a check form for $500.00 (to Lake Dog Properties) this check will not be cashed unless there is mechanical damage to the pontoon boat, which we will properly inspect after each guest departure. If at that time there is no issue we will properly dispose of the check.
We want our guests to be aware that with Lures Edge Retreat, we are not responsible for any refund due to the fact that the boat is not functioning or unusable during your visit, as we provide the boat as a courtesy. If the boat is broken it is our duty to have the boat up and cruising again within a timely manner but sometimes these factors are outside of our control.
While our property is a pet friendly property we do have restrictions. We permit up to two dogs per reservation. Also we do have size and breed restrictions. Please reach out directly if you are planning on bringing your four legged friend with you for approval. Please be aware the pontoon is not permitted to pull any water sports behind the boat. There are companies on the for waterskiing.

Everything about this home exceeded our expectations. Byron provided and stocked the house with everything you needed and more. He did a fantastic job with the renovations using the highest quality appliances and fixtures. The whole family enjoyed the week and talked about coming back again. This was our first time visiting Lake Lure. Our family consist of 11 and typically we book a 5-bedroom vacation home; even though this was a 4-bedroom home it worked well for us, and we had plenty of space. Byron was the best host we have had in all our vacations together. He truly has a genuine heart and passion for hospitality. The boat and hot tub were a hit with the grandkids! This home is even better in person than the photos - Wow - The view, the lake and the mountains are stunning! The beds are comfy, and there are water toys galore. Byron and his mom, Barbara, were wonderful in answering any and all questions. Do not hesitate to stay in this home!! The kitchen is loaded with way more than the usual basics as well. We would love to go back!

Byron could not have been more accommodating. From the minute we got there he was the gracious host. Any questions? He was always available. The house was perfect for our family. It was clean, spacious, and fully stocked for cooking needs. The boat dock area was loaded with paddle boards, kayaks, and most importantly, a wonderful pontoon. It made the week so special to be able access the beauty of the lake. Sunsets were my favorite time. I truly can’t wait to get back. Thanks for making our time so enjoyable!!

We joined some friends for a lovely weekend getaway. Although the lake was in it's drained state we still had a great time. I'd love to come back at full levels and take advantage of all of the excellent toys that come with rental. What a beautiful spot!

We travelled to Lake Lure to visit family. The house is beautiful and cozy with wonderful mountain and lake views. The pontoon was an awesome bonus and we very much enjoyed being out on the lake. Would absolutely stay here again!

This was our 2nd year renting this beautiful home on the lake! It has a room large enough for everyone to gather together, and four lovely bedrooms to retreat to for some quiet time. We enjoyed using the pontoon boat and paddle boards, as well as the hot tub. Very pet friendly! We hope to be back again next year! Thanks, Byron and Barbara!

This house has so many amenities to keep everyone busy and happy! The water toys, kayaks, paddle boards, private little beach like water access, hot tub and the best a pontoon boat to explore the lake and try some of the restaurants. The view of the lake was beautiful. Everyone could have their own space. Gorgeous sunsets from the roof deck too.

After staying in Vrbos for over 10 years, this by far was the most clean and well stocked place we have ever stayed. Byron has thought of everything to make this home comfortable. It felt more like a home with all the personal touches and decorations then a place we rented.
Byron was an amazing host who made sure we got settled in quickly. The lake which is steps from the back door was perfect for all of us adults and children.

The house was very clean and loved the set-up, kids downstairs, adults upstairs.
The views from the house are unbeatable. We all got a lot of exercise going up and down to the dock, kids were tired out at night! Boat was nice to have and the kids caught fish off the dock and enjoyed swimming. Absolutely a great house and location!

Loved a lot about our stay, but the view of the lake from the top floor stands out!! The use of the pontoon boat was a wonderful option for our multi-generational group. Loved the SUPs. The outdoor deck off the lower floor got a lot of use for game playing, relaxing and an occasional work call. We enjoyed the nearby hiking just 10 minutes up the road. We were so happy to find such a nice accommodation that allowed us to have our dogs vacation with us. Great family memories were made during our week at this beautiful lake!!

To celebrate the baby of the family "Me" turning 65 I found the perfect place to gather with 2 of my brothers and 2 of my sisters and 2 spouses. The oldest is 81. We could not have found a better place. The view was awesome. Everyone commented on how clean it was. Byron's attention to detail showed throughout both upstairs and downstairs. There was room to gather as a group or plenty of places to find some alone time. Kitchen was well stocked. We found everything needed. I will definitely rent this again.

This was the fourth time we have visited this property over the years. This visit did not disappoint. We had a wonderful time with family. Our teenagers enjoyed time on the lake with the paddle boards and time. The pontoon boat and hot-tub was a nice bonus. We are looking forward to our next visit

This beautiful lake house was PERFECT!!! Extremely clean, complete and updated!! It has ALL of the amenities we needed. Spent most evenings on the deck watching the sun sets with our friends. Byron is an amazing and very gracious host! He made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend and will book again!

The house was immaculate and SOOOO cozy! Even the guys in our group kept commenting on how comfortable and clean it was. We had a group of 8 for New Years and cooked dinner each night of our stay- the kitchen had every utensil and dish we were in need of! There is ample room for everyone to spread out, sit down and relax and chat in different areas of the home without feeling like you're on top of each other. The view of the lake from inside the home was mesmerizing! We have already talked about booking another weekend at this home in the future... if you're looking for a great place for a larger group this home is it!

The owner went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed to make our vacation awesome. We loved the view and the spacious layout. The house was fully decorated for the holidays - complete with a Frazier fir Christmas tree!! Be sure to check out the renovation pictures in the owners binder. Every detail has been thought out making this house a home. We can’t wait to come back!

Our family got away together with our college kids home and adult kids from all over. We wanted some time away with just us before Christmas with extended family started. This was the perfect getaway. The house had so much that made hanging out, fun family time. They had a large hot tub and a pontoon boat that even in 30-40 degree weather, we were able to enjoy short cruises bundled up. The kitchen is well stocked. We made Christmas cookies one night and watched a Christmas movie another. We went on a short hike together and went to the local brewery in town. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

This is a very nice home and accommodates a group of 8 quite well. The main floor is very large with 2 large bedrooms and large attached bathrooms. The additional half bath was appreciated just off the kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking which we did alot of! The second refrigerator in the lower level was great to have. We loved the open concept main level, and there were terrific views of the water from the kitchen, dining and family room areas. The lower level is much smaller and the 2 bedrooms down there are also small, but nicely done. The lower level porch/outdoor bar is not much use in the cold weather as there is no firepit there or anywhere on the property. The hot tub is NOT on the lower porch, but off to the side of the house, which made it a bit less inviting but nice to have none the less. The boat and water toys (kayak and SUPs) were great to have and we spent a lot of time on the outdoor deck overlooking the lake. This home should please most anyone.

This was our 4th trip to Lake Lure and this place did not disappoint. Our family loved that each bedroom had a bathroom. The house was very clean. The owner was very quick to respond when I had a question. We also loved The owner’s mom who knows so much about the area and she is very easy to get a hold of. The boat is a plus too. We enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again.

A wonderful, relaxing fun vacation. Our family had a great time at this beautiful Lake Lure retreat. Byron has done a great job renovating this unique home. We loved having the pontoon boat! Our family took several rides, watched the sunset, and arrived for dinner by boat to some of the local restaurants. The hot tub was a great bonus as well. Our 15-22 year old children had a great time jumping off the boathouse as well! We had thought we would be taking day trips around the area but no one wanted to leave the house and lake because they were having so much fun. Byron and Barbara were so easy to get in touch with and such warm hosts! A great time was had by all in our group!

Had an awesome week renting this lake house! It had everything we needed to enjoy our time on the lake- pontoon, SUP, kayaks, floats, jumping dock! Kids had endless options and a perfect cove area for swimming out of the way of boat traffic. The kitchen was well stocked along with beautiful open views from the living room. Our family of four plus two friends enjoyed a wonderful week at this spacious, comfortable and well-appointed home. Lake Lure is very charming, and we enjoyed swimming, fishing, paddle boarding, and cruising around in the pontoon boat. Nearby Chimney Rock was also a fun excursion. We had plenty of spaces to spread out and gather together. Beds were comfortable, and the whole house was neat and clean. We have rented many different VRBO cabins in the NC mountains over the years, and this is our new favorite. We hope to come back again!

We stayed at the property for two weeks! The property is exactly as listed, and is absolutely beautiful. You feel like you are sitting on the water when you are in the house. Everything you might need, they have thought of. Byron was super friendly and easy to get a hold of if we had any questions. The use of the boat was a major plus. We used it every day. The lake water is clean, and we swam every day. Would come back in a heart beat!
