About this house rental
Amazing ambiance!
This charming house is just a couple blocks from downtown in the small Gold Rush village of Sierra City.
The house is cozy and private. But its greatest attraction is the peaceful sound of a small brook cascading past the deck and water trickling down the rock patio wall.
This house has three bedrooms, with one California King bed and the other two queen beds. This two-story house has one full bath (shower only) and one half bath, one on each level.
The stairs leading to the two upstairs bedrooms are fairly steep and may be difficult to navigate for people with disabilities.
Hardwood deck looks out over a small year-round stream that provides great sounds!
Usually requires a 3-4-day minimum rental. Requests for shorter stays may be considered in between other rentals or for open days close to booking window.

My family came to Sierra City to celebrate my adult daughter's 4th of July birthday. This location was central to so many amazing things. We hiked to several lakes, spent a day in a darling mountain town & even saw fabulous fireworks in nearby Graeagle. The house was absolutely perfect for our family. Large deck for relaxing and playing games, large well equipped kitchen & dining room and comfy beds for everyone. Generous amenities & extremely clean. We will absolutely return to this place.

We had a family gathering to celebrate my husbands birthday. Our grown kids laughed for hours playing games-so many to choose from. The deck next to the creek was so relaxing, I’m going to miss that! It’s a cute older home with lots of character.

we loved our stay at this cozy home in the forest with a creek running out front. It’s an older house with character, and it felt very comfortable and clean with a fully stocked kitchen for any and all cooking you might want to do. The beds were very comfortable and we loved hanging out on a rainy day when it was too wet to hike, just enjoying a fire in the fireplace. Toby was very attentive and available throughout the pre and post-visit periods in addition to the time we were at the house. A great find.

Driveway is a little sketchy in the wet but other than that the place is great and I would recommend staying there. Shady and quiet as you are up from the main road.

If you like a cabin in the woods, you will like this place. We had trouble finding it because of an obscure address sign. I talked to the owner, and he is putting up an easier to spot sign. Some windows could use light-blocking curtains. It was bright in the upstairs bedroom at 5:30 AM. The owner agrees with me and hopefully will add curtains.
Other than this minor issues, the place was comfortable. Meals were easy to prepare in the kitchen. I would rent it again for a family.

The home is lovely, clean, and very comfortable. The kitchen is very well appointed, with a great deal of space in which to work. The owner is wonderful to work with, always very responsive and helpful. He even had a welcome bottle of delicious Syrah waiting for us. The setting is beautiful, with a fast flowing creek running through the property and an additional water feature in the back yard. Would definitely stay here again!

Loved our weekend stay here. Was close to Downieville and the little shops in Sierra City. The little creek that lines the property was very peaceful. Hope to come back again in the future.

Such a beautiful setting with the burbling brook running past the house. There was wildfire smoke some of the days so we were glad we brought up an air purifier. Around the house it was so peaceful and green woes of the world are far away. Owner is really helpful. Stairs are steep to 2nd floor, easy to go around the back of the house & there is a ground floor room for the older folks.

We had a wonderful stay. House was clean and well stocked. Love the large deck and the relaxing environment. Great communication with the owner, Toby. The only thing I would change is to put window curtains up in the bathroom. I hope the next time I travel to Sierra City the house is available.

The description given for this property is specific and great, more importantly its all very true. You will definitely get everything described. As beautifully written as it is, it really is even better then that.
First the owner Tobias, is very informative and will reply back to all ur questions quickly. He's very kind and made it feel very comfortable to go to him with whatever questions or concerns u may have. My family and I are very private and don't really like dealing with people to much. Simplicity is what we want. Don't want to deal with anything extra or have to meet with people and deal with the whole awkwardness of dealing with a stranger. That was our main concern with using this type of rental instead of a hotel. Communicating with Tobias didn't feel awkward or weird at all. I was very comfortable from our first communication with one another.
The home is just great. It has more then expected...more then necessary available to you so that u feel at home. And its so so clean..I can't say enough about the cleanliness of this home. Everything u may need is there and easy to find. We are homey people and are content being at home. We took this trip because our 11 yr old daughter had been telling us for a year she wanted to be in a private forest with her family. As her parents we felt it was our obligation to allow her to expierance the outdoors even though we didn't know how to be outdoors. We wouldn't know what to do to camp so we were looking for a place that would make her feel like she's in the middle of the forest when she was outside but made us feel at home when we were inside.
We definently felt at home and the outside is breath taking. Just beautiful. Makes us wish we learned how to camp so we could be out there more often. Absolutely gorgeous and so so private. Loved it.
The only thing I wish would have been different is that the windows would be covered. My daughter is 11 and when bed time came around not having curtains on the windows was a problem. She ended up wanting to sleep in the living room on the couch with the outside lights on..and of course I had to sleep with her. Also the bathroom didn't have the windows covered and the windows a clear. I taped wrapping paper on them to cover them up during our showers. Its a very private area and unless someone was in the back yard u probably couldn't be seen showering but if ur standing at the back door u can see whoever is showering shower. It was a simple fix though

This cabin was great! Very spacious with plenty of room for cooking and hanging out. Everyone had their own bedroom which was great. There were tons of supplies and everything we needed for a comfortable stay!
