This was our second stay at this property and our fourth visit to Kiawah. I’ll start by saying there is nothing terribly wrong with the property, but the wear and tear it has endured over the last couple of years since our last visit does not come through very clearly in the posted photos. The living room furniture is a bit tired and has some staining, the floors didn’t seem very clean when we arrived, the towels provided were few and very thin, etc. In addition, while we paid to have the pool heated ($75/day), it was obvious over our first two days that the pool wasn’t heating up. We called and were told it was too cold outside for the heater to kick in, but nobody offered any refund. Someone eventually stopped by to “fix” the issue (I think he just turned on the heater!). The location of the property to Night Heron Park and the beach is excellent. In the end, I just expected more/better for the price it costs to stay at this property. We will search for another property the next time we visit.

Our family celebrated Thanksgiving at Kiawah. 57 Surfwatch is in a perfect location to enjoy all that Kiawah has to offer. House has great space, supplied well and managed well. We had a few issues that were taken care of promptly
My only complaint is the living room rug, it is shredded on the edges and we were tripping over it all week. Other than that no complaints.

Reviewer Comments:
A great house for sure. We really enjoyed the spacious interior and the pool was outstanding. The exterior of the home is beginning to show some wear and tear and for this price point we would have expecting higher quality amenities from the outdoor furniture, grill and screened in porch. Overall a beautiful place to stay and a very short bike ride to the beach.

Reviewer Comments:
The house was wonderful. We loved having a pool and it was so well-equipped. There were even toys and books for the kids to play with. The pool was shaded which was a nice reprieve from the August heat. All of the sheets and bedding were very comfortable. The kitchen was very well-equipped and organized! The only issue we had were spiked pinecones falling into the pool. We had to sweep it quite a few times and it was impossible to get them out of the pool from the bottom without a pool vacuum.

We've been coming to Kiawah for years with our girls and have stayed many places on the island. This house was exceptional. It is even more gorgeous than the photos...beautifully decorated, wonderfully spacious with lots of natural light and well-appointed with many thoughtful amenities. The house was clean and comfortable and just gorgeous. A quick bike ride to easy beach access. We especially enjoyed the lovely pool and screened back porch. The kitchen and pantry storage were wonderful. Thank you for a lovely stay and another memorable week in one of our favorite places!

All seven of us loved this house. It was beautiful, comfortable, and located very close to the beach. We were amazed at the organization exhibited by the owners. Every light switch, every shelf for kitchenware, every fan, etc. was labeled. We would love to stay in this beautiful home many times to come. It was equipped with everything imaginable. One of the best homes we have ever enjoyed at Kiawah, and we have stayed in many homes there.

Reviewer Comments:
I will share the positives first. The house is beautiful. The furnishings and finishes are lovely. The home is spacious and the layout family friendly. I love having two master bedrooms. The walk to the beach is very doable, even for older individuals. The pool and yard were serviced while we were there. Now the negative. The house was not clean and is in need of some tlc. When we arrived, there were 50 towels shoved in the dryer. I’m not exaggerating. Bath, kitchen, and beach towels packed in so tight, I could barely pull them out. It was unbelievable. I assume they were all “washed” together like that as well. I spent the first 2 days washing 6 loads, yes 6 loads, of towels. I wasn’t about to use those on our bodies without washing them again. Not something you want to spend your vacation doing. The gas stove does not work properly. If you want to make pasta, plan on boiling the water an hour in advance. Not exaggerating. The maintenance man said the propane was at 28%, but no one ever returned to fix the problem. There was not a single dishrag in the kitchen to wipe things down. The office brought more dish towels, which is not what we needed. The drain in the upstairs bath was clogged. My son and husband cleaned it out. There were dirty dishes left on the shelves in the bunk beds. It made us wonder if they even cleaned the bedding. You need a NASA engineer to work the tv in the family room. The bottom line is, the rentals need to be cleaned much better. It was obvious that it was a rush job. We paid too much money for this to happen.

At the start, we thought we'd made a perfect choice for our trip. However mid-week, the house ran out of gas. For three days: no hot water, no pool heat, no cooking gas. The rental company assured us each day that the gas company was "on the way", but they never arrived. To be fair, they were very supportive and sympathetic, and provided us with what we feel is fair restitution, but the back end of our trip was ruined by this problem. If this had not happened, we would have had a 5* trip. Paying extra for the pool heat was worth it, except that when the gas runs out, the pool heat turns off.

Wonderful home. Great location.

House was in perfect condition. Location is superb - close to entrance to Kiawah and close to beach access. Communication with the rental company was outstanding. We only had 2 very minor issues, and they were corrected immediately. We will definitely rent from this company again and would stay at this property again, as well.
