Waterloo isn't just a train station, or a path to the buzzy South Bank. Far livelier than it was a decade ago, this well-connected south London area is home to a couple of world-famous theatres, the BFI IMAX, the London Eye, quality food markets, hip coffee shops, and plenty of great pubs and bars. These days, there's a lot more to Waterloo than might meet the eye.
Waterloo at night
Although it's excellent for sightseeing in the day, it’s not the liveliest in the evening.
Waterloo is a great place to come for taking photographs of the attractions lit up and the river cityscapes but other than restaurants and bars there is not much here to entertain you.
A quiet walk along the River Thames is something that many enjoy, an opportunity to get away from the frantic energy of the West End. It is however very close to the West End which can be walked to or is a just a quick Underground journey away.
The Southbank Centre, just a few minutes' walk from Waterloo Station, and right by the River Thames, hosts a popular food market Fridays to Mondays, offers a fantastic range of street food as well as fresh produce to take home.
In addition, this area has many individual cafes, with a range of menus and great views over the river.
As you get closer to Waterloo Station most food outlets are more convenience styled, geared to the needs of the commuters using the station looking for food on the go.
Attractions
The London Eye, London Dungeon, London Aquarium, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey are all near to one another.
It’s a short walk into Trafalgar Square and the museums and galleries. Walking down the south bank, you can visit the South Bank Centre and Royal Festival Hall, Tate Modern and Tower Bridge.
There are various Underground stations that you can use to access the rest of Central London’s attractions, all within 20-min journey.
Getting Around:
Waterloo is easy to get to as well. Waterloo station is the busiest rail hub in the UK, and you can travel here directly from many places in southern England.
It’s also well connected on the London Underground. Waterloo is served by the Jubilee, Northern, Bakerloo, and Waterloo & City lines of the tube.
Because it’s so close to the Thames, Waterloo is also easy to walk to. It’s close to the attractions along the South Bank, and accessible by bridge from the Embankment.
There are plenty of bus routes running through the area, too. Which means there are so many ways to get here there’s no excuse to stay away.
Other Things to Note:

Violation of this rule will result in eviction from the property and charges for any damages or additional cleaning required. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

We had been planning a trip to London for quite some time with my extended family. We chose this property for its close proximity to the location of several of our events. Our disappointment started as soon as the front door came into view. The inside of the window coverings were stained and there was loose trash on the front porch. When we entered, it was obvious it had not been cleaned. There was food in the sink, trash in the trashcan, toilets that had not been flushed and a dirty mop bucket in the kitchen. The "garden" area outside was overgrown, littered with trash and debris and in disarray. Furniture inside was not at all on par with the property description- the coffee table was held together with a piece of tape. 2 of the beds upstairs were extremely low to the ground making it impossible for the elders in the group to use them. I immediately contacted the property management and we found another property in a safer neighborhood that actually contained an accurate property description. The only review for this property states that renters concern over cleanliness and my experience confirms this. I was very disappointed in the response time from the property management company and to date, I am still disputing the charges. I am not a high maintenance person and I love travel and seeing new places and new areas. But this property was not truthfully advertised. Period. I am extremely disappointed with the management company as well as VRBO.

The 3 story apartment comfortably fit our group of 7, the 3.5 baths was a plus given the size of the group. The neighborhood is quiet and home to a nearby grocery store with quick access to the Kennington tube station. Check in/out was efficient, and the Wifi signal was strong. But...the apartment was noticeably dirty. Hair was visible on furniture and the carpets were so filthy we didn't walk around barefoot. Even the staircase handrails had not been properly wiped down. There were noticeable hardwood floor stains, and obvious lack of dusting/overall cleanliness. The kitchen was minimally stocked although it comes with a brand new dishwasher (the tag was still on it although we didn't use it). Washing machine only for at least some convenience.
Overall, this was a decent size apartment for our size group, conveniently located, but needs some TLC.
