The kitchen is so well equipped, my food finally tasted like something again! I enjoyed the feeling of the big communal living room, and when people cooked traditional Guatemalan food, I got a bite :) The hostel itself is nice, and I was glad to have an affordable private room.
The room, though, wasn't very soundproof and from traffic to the neighbors' alarm to coughing after brushing their teeth. I heard everything.

Amazing hosts Andreas and Ashley were super welcoming and amazing. Best kitchen in Guatemala. Really has a homestay feel to the place. San Lucas is a nice town and it's located right in the center near the market and square. Good place to explore the lake while staying in a place that doesn't see many tourists. One of the best places I've ever stayed and wish I could stay longer! Really felt at home here.

I didn't use the kitchen but it looked very well equipped and clean.

Lovely stay, friendly staff, nice quiet Mayan town on the lake away from tourist centres. Some good little hikes around. Wifi and hot water works, hammocks etc to chill in.

Casa Qatzij will forever hold a special place in my heart. This space is truly a home and you’re a welcomed part of a family.
The kitchen facilities are gorgeous and a lot of thought was put into it, similarly with the rest of the house. Truly, one of the nicest kitchens I’ve seen during my travels, with everything from
sharp stainless steel knives to spices to cast irons!! There’s an exhaustive collection of novels, non-fiction, zines, and other readings materials and many cozy spots to curl into (possibly with one of the three animals who live here.) Everything is cleaned daily and I found my bed to be sooo comfortable after weeks of lumpy pillows are wiry mattresses.
San Lucas Toliman is certainly a quiet part of the lake, but worth visiting! Veronica, Frida and I went for an excursion to Punta de Diosas (goddess point). it’s also worth noting that while the owner was away, his volunteer Veronica held the container of this space with such integrity and joy! I think it speaks volumes to the energy of this home that she is so wonderful. additionally- Veronica gave me the best haircut of my life. I’m truly leaving here as a different person. COME HERE!! Just live and be in this thoughtful, gorgeous home.

The host Andres, is the absolute best. I was supposed to be there one night l, but he made me feel so at home I stayed 3 nights. He was even kind enough to make me dinner for my birthday. Not only is he a great host, he’s also an unofficial guide around the lake with great knowledge which caters to different travelers.
Everything was great!

We booked one night and stayed for 3 nights. We had an amazing time at the place with Andres and his sweet dog Katzij. Went hiking, swimming and having nice dinners at Toliman. Met some amazing people and visited the IMAP. Will def come back!
There are some car noises as it is close to the mainstreet with earplugs its manageable, even as a light sleeper. Only love for this place.

just everything is great, from the staff to the structure, the dog the bathroom the garden. towels are included. I stayed both in a dorm and a private room and loved them both. the structure also doesn’t let the cold in, which you can’t say for many places around the lake so plus even there. fully equipped kitchen, big garden, easy to socialize but also chill, in the exact center of the town.
maybe had a light in the bathroom and the kitchen so that visibility is good at night as well.
I can understand why dorms have to pay for the kitchen, but for me the price was rather high.

Excellent place, wish I could rate it more! Andrès is fabulous, speaks fluent English and was so warm, friendly and accommodating to us. He organised a few group meals over Christmas which was so thoughtful when you are away from home but always enough quiet time too so that I could get work done. He has a gorgeous dog and two cats which really add to the atmosphere of the place! Very secure parking for our motorcycles with room for more cars. The house is set back from the road which adds to it being a very quiet and relaxing place to stay. Close to the boats to explore the rest of the lake. Spotlessly clean, excellent wifi, great price, what else can I say! Perfect, I would love to come back!
Nothing, place was amazing!

Simple, authentic home that made our stay feel more like a Guatemalan home-stay than hotel. We joined the other guests and Andres for family dinner. The neighborhood feels safe while having very low tourist traffic. I felt like I was living a page out of a novel!

Cozy place, perfectly located in the chill city of San Lucas Toliman. 1 minute walking to the market, 5 minutes to the lake. Owner and volunteers were super nice and helpful. Great hiking opportunities around with the two volcanoes pretty close to it. And for some wildlife, there is also some nice ecological parks around. Would absolutely go back there anytime.

Very nice location. Right on main street within easy walking distance of the central park and many good eateries, restaurants, and other attractions. Very good hotel owner and host who made sure we had everything we needed on arrival and throughout our stay. Even provided access to clean drinking water throughout our stay. Staff are super friendly and helpful.
Honestly, the whole stay was good. We paid for and stayed in one of the more modest apartments but even so felt very welcome and that anything we might need was simply a question away. It was decently clean and the perfect place to base out of.
