Service was good, bed comfortable, interior wasn’t great /but not terrible.. exterior, especially the grounds antiquated, unkept, run down, looks as if owners aren’t paying attention to detail at all.. should be , could be a beautiful property considering location and view..CEO better put on a pair of jeans, roll up his or her sleeves and go work before he or she loses the opportunity..make a difference, start with this property..

The room was nice. The bathroom was a little rough, especially the tub. Unfortunately, not sure if I would recommend.
3.8
Excellent service and room. Middle of renovations but handled well. All stairs do need to have railings and only found 1, main lobby that had railings.
3.8
The room was sterile and had been remodeled but wasn’t great. It was extremely loud. You could hear every door that shut. Window lit up like a tv screen from the light outside and the blind that didn’t close all the way. They needed a curtain that closed like most hotels. Service wasn’t great either.
3.8
The renovations are awesome, rooms have been updated. Very Nice! The grounds have been horribly neglected. It's a shame, as it has always been well maintained. Not sure whats up with that? But it's so nice to see the renovations to the rooms & lobby. Ive been a regular guest of The Shilo Inn for decades. This new chapter, Columbia River Inn is exciting 🙌

I was so disappointed. As shown on the website was untrue. My door didn't lock! There was no breakfast offered, just unhealthy grab sacks. Little water pressure. the decor is outdated EXCEPT for the lobby, the only updated area. The rest of the place is old and very outdated, chipping paint everywhere. The desk person said the property was recently purchased A YEAR AGO and they were not done yet with renovation. This place is unsafe: breezeways between sections had transients walking through them all day from a homeless camp a mile away, people were walking to the Chevron at the corner.
3.8
The service was great. The room was clean and the restaurant served great food.
3.8
Balcony did not have chairs. The door doesn’t lock, one of the lamp light is not working. The room is dark with only the side lamps, then one is busted.
3.8
The hotel is currently being renovated and it looks like it is going to be beautiful. However, there were ants in our room, including our bed and all we were told was "oh that's too bad, sorry about that". It would have been nice to at least have a little compensation back because I have ant bites all over my body and it is uncomfortable.
3.8
Way too much construction through out the whole hotel. The room was not easy to find with all the corridors and different sections. I wish we would’ve known there was going to be so much construction & mess before booking our room.
3.8
Great and friendly service. Property was going through remodel currently so some facilities were not available.

I stayed for 4 days and didn't get any towels until I called them on the last night there. They did have them to me within 5 to 10 minutes The breakfast consisted of a microwaved breakfast sandwich they didn't make my bed at all what's a no big deal since I was there for 4 days I made my own bed. But the towel thing was wrong.

This property has recently been purchased and is in the middle of renovation. What they have done so far looks beautiful but they are just not quite there yet. You can see as you walk around the property they are working hard to bring this place together. I predict once finished it will be very nice. One flaw that may cause issues is no elevator in the building, there are only two flights to get to the second story, not bad. When this building was built there were restrictions with elevators and one was not put in, they may have plans to add one somewhere down the road but as of now it is limited in accessibility. They do send an email asking to reach out so they can accommodate if needed. The area surrounding is beautiful you can see the river and the dam. Breakfast is limited and they seem to be a bit short staffed. Not a complete continental breakfast. I think this property had huge potential and when done will be very nice.

Didn’t receive the room I booked. Contacted front desk regarding it said they would leave a note for manager. They never contacted me regarding any of the issues I brought up. Too many to list.
3.8
Front desk staff were very nice. Air conditioned room. Comfortable King bed. People seemed to like the pool area; laying out and swimming. The restaurant/bar is great. We played pool and I won some money on a lottery machine. The view of the Gorge and The Dalles Dam is unique. Convenient location next to I84, Chevron with little store, McDonalds.
3.8
Service was great. Breakfast was lame. Hotel is under construction and looks bad from outside. Inside room was fine. Heated pool perfect

The hotel is currently undergoing a major update - the majority of it has been updated but there are still some unfinished areas - not in our room, but outside in the hall. Our room was super clean and modern with vinyl flooring and a spacious area. Would stay here again.
3.8
The hotel is under renovation, construction debris everywhere inside and out. The amenities that were supposed to be included did not exist as the commissary store and the continental breakfast areas were under construction. The layout of the hotel is terrible. From our room you either had to walk through five exterior doors and go downstairs or walk around the entire property to get to the front office. The room was decent and clean but I did not get what I paid for and would not recommend
3.8
I understand the property being renovated but it would have been nice to know ahead. The room is poorly fashioned.. crowded. No place to sit comfortably, air conditioner extremely loud, noise from hallway not muffled at all.
3.8
Advertised free breakfast did not have. Took over an hour to get a Cobb salad at trstaurant

Close to the Columbia River

Property is being remodeled and there is paper taped to the floors. Breakfast is in a paper bag to take to your room. NO elevator!
The 2 stools on the balcony were so dirty we couldn’t sit on them.
3.8
The entire hotel is being updated so there was normal construction mess, but overall it was a great stay. Beautiful view and we were able to take a nice walk with our dog and watch the sunset. It is also great to have a restaurant on site!
3.8
I booked the hotel for the location/nice pictures of the lobby&room/breakfast. In reality, the property is undergoing renovation, there are debris throughout, and instead of breakfast, we were given a tiny bag of three junk food options (which is somewhat expected) to be eaten in a room or in the lobby. I would not take an issue with the renovation if the hotel management was upfront and open in description instead of completely false advertising. For example, they took a picture of a bunch of chairs and tables in the beautiful lobby put to look like it's the breakfast area and made it a bit fuzzy to make t hard to say for sure. Why not charge people $20 less and explain that it's for the inconvenience of the renovation? This property is not worth $185/night but will be once it is done. Also, please don't lie that you have an 80F heated outdoor pool, when it is not (and is very easy to check!). Check your greed at the door and treat people we with respect please!

Love the river

Average, service could be better. Looks better in pictures than it actually is.

Very nice place in the midst of a major renovation. It will be beautiful! Good food in the restaurant. Breakfast is a bit simplistic due to the renovation but it was fine for me.

NOTE: This property is undergoing a remodel, so check the date when you read reviews.
This is going to be a fabulous place to stay when it's complete but things are a little wonky right now. I would recommend calling ahead to make reservations if some things are more important than others.
The lobby was under construction but looks like it will be gorgeous when finished, with a large stone fireplace and a lovely view of the river and dam. Breakfast is bagged grab and go for now. The restaurant & bar area (plus a bonus room with pool tables) overlooked the river. We ate out, but popped in for yummy desserts.
My room had been painted, but the furniture hadn't been replaced or set up to function properly with the layout. A 4-plug outlet up on the wall behind the TV that I could barely reach, a 2 plug outlet on a wall with nothing near it, and nowhere to plug things in bedside. One side had a lamp & alarm clock, the other had a lamp, fridge & microwave. No plug in the tub for bathing, but they do have them, so ask if that's important. The fridge was bigger than most hotel mini fridges, and the freezer refroze my ice packs. The coffee maker is on the desk, not in the bathroom, which is important to me. There is also coffee available in the lobby.
Staff was overall fantastic!
As stated, this property is undergoing a big remodel, so if you're reading this after 2024, I'm sure none of it will apply except the gorgeous view and it will have lots of 5 stars!

Loved our stay

It was the worse yet. Under construction. My sister and i stayed while headed to see family. I chose this spot because of reviews and the fact it had breakfast well the breakfast spot is under construction so it was supposed to be a jimmy beam sausage biscuit warmed up to go. Chose not to take that. The heater in the room was so loud and bathroom door was almost off the hinge couldn't shut it quietly. Then the smoke detector was beeping all night and the construction workers tarps were flappin outside our window so much for any sleep. Price was way to much for that.
3.8
Property under construction and rooms haven’t been totally finished. Otherwise, it’s beautiful and staff was wonderful.
3.8
Renovations are underway but it was still an excellent stay. When finished it’s going to be beautiful and very functional.

We understand that the former Shilo Inn is under major renovation, but the room that we were put is was not very clean and looked quite shaby.. We hope that the next time we stay it will be better. We love the loation and the staff have always been very nice. The lobby is looking gorgeous and excited to see how the hotel is going to look in the future.
3.8
Parking was easy because nobody was staying here... with good reason. The contractors had messed up a bunch of the showers and as a result we could only take cold showers. When brought to the attention of the hotel staff they shrugged and said sorry they are messed up. When the hotel sent an email asking about the stay i indicated a negative experience so they asked if i would like to be contacted by management. Never heard from them. My advice is stay somewhere else. The rooms have all sorts of rough edges... including birds living in the a/c unit.
3.8
They had construction during our stay so there is always that. Nice property location is great. Bar is expensive and not good drinks, ie…very weak for price. Front desk person at night was not the friendliest, while morning person very hospitable. I would stay again as the property itself is and will be very nice.
3.8
Nice quiet location next to River
3.8
Pros: I have stayed here many times. Overall always a good experience and nice room. Good food at restaurant
Cons: the heater in the room was very loud. The wifi was non existent.
3.8
The evening employee doesn’t have a good costumer service personality!

The description for this hotel says it's been renovated in 2024. As of April 5-7, 2024 it is still in the process of being renovated. I stayed in building D which still had the old siding. The rest of the buildings were prepped for new siding. The inside of our room did not look like it had been renovated. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. One of the chairs had major scratches and stains. The bathroom fan did not work. One of the other hotel guests said their fan didn't work and another guest said their fan worked but made a horrible noise. There was a stack of debris and building materials from the demolition in an area not easily accessible to hotel guests, but very unsighlty. There were scraps of metal and wood with nails in it on the lawn in front of building D; probably blown there by the wind. Not a safe place for children to run around on the lawn. I was not at the hotel during the day. The nights were quiet. I suspect it may be noisy on weekdays when contractors are working on renovations. It isn't all bad. The hotel is located near the Columbia River and easy driving distance to downtown. The hotel staff were friendly and the floor in the lobby was beautiful. There were big paper wrapped packages in the lobby. I assume it was furniture for the lobby, which was unfurnished. I think once the renovations are done, this will be a very nice hotel. But I wouldn't recommend it for now unless you just need a place to stay at night.
