We stayed here before it became the Riverwalk, and it's a much better experience now. The lobby is warm and inviting and reflects the area in its decor and even in the toy campfire kids can play with. Our room was spacious. Nice breakfast.

Quick stay just overnight for a family event. Very family and pet friendly motor lodge with an ok free breakfast. Kids loved the indoor pool and there's brewery where we had dinner two doors down. Better quality than most hotels in the area.

Not a fan of this property. Will not be staying again. Noisy, not clean, mattress, furniture, and in room amenities less than optimal. Staff were friendly but not clear on policies and practices regarding room cleaning and linen restocking.

Bed was okay. Shower had good water pressure. Continental breakfast was well stocked with a good variety to select from.

Very dated hotel... not as nice as the photos on the website. Lumpy mattress, loud fan in old bathroom, flys in the room all over the window when we arrived. Breakfast was average. Definitely not what we were expecting for a "boutique" hotel.

OK but not at all fancy place.

nice pool.

A comfortable and clean room

The Room was in the back, very inconvenient to get to, no room service and then after we leave they accuse us of smoke in the room, well I have COPD there is no smoke of any. kind in my room.

The hotel is sufficient for staying to sleep when passing through. But it's really outdated and the "amenities" aren't going to draw you in. The breakfast they offer is VERY limited and will not fuel you for the day. Will not stay here again.

The TV controls were missing from our room. We were given another remote that did not work either. Not the end of the world but just a tad inconvenient. The breakfast gravy was cold too.

I was fraudulently charged $250 by the hotel after checking out.

Pluses are that proximity to the convention center, River Walk, and 101; the room is large; and the bed is comfy. On the down side, the floor was sticky (due to cleaning product?) and the cleaning product smell was kind of strong. There was no extra blanket in the room. I might stay here again, but will check out other options in the area, too.

They turned one side of the parking lot into a beautiful outdoor area that was very nice. They have really nicely done murals on the outside of the hotel. There wasnt an elevator. The beds werent very comfortable. The area was easy to get to. Breakfast in the morning was good.

This was an amazing place to stay!! They accommodated my 80 year old mother with a lower level room they were so kind and welcoming! Lovely out door area to eat, sit and talk about your day lite up nicely at night just beautiful!!

Room floor needed to be mopped, breakfast was decent and the price was fair.

hyped as a boutique hotel. It is a motel in a parking lot with no lobby to speak of, and a gravel yard to sit in. Nice staff
5.0
Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Quiet. Nice renovation.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice rooms, very large. Dining in area is a challenge, everything except the brewery seems to close early. No crime issues that I saw and nothing of concern going on. Lots of families came and went while we were there, however hotel was quiet and safe. Breakfast in morning was nice and there is also a pool and an outside area to sit and relax. The area itself is kind of a of back of a shopping center vibe but most folks left after breakfast to adventure and stayed out all day - so it didn't really matter much. Convenient gas station and if you drive 5 minutes more- dining and supply options increase - you just have to find them.

Nothing great, but nothing terrible either! Beds were a little uncomfortable but it was a convenient place for our group to stay and would recommend if you're looking for a place in the area.

This is the best place to stay in the Fortuna, Ferndale, and Eureka area. The place is very peaceful and clean. We met the most wonderful hotel reception staff, Telera. Although this seemed like a very large property, she made sure that we feel well taken care of. We will definitely go back and we’ll bring our friends with us next time. I highly recommend this place. Great place, excellent service.

Mattress had indentations, need to replace.

Spacious, comfortable room, decent property. Indoor pool looks nice, although we didn’t have a chance to use it. Breakfast was decent, cereal, English muffins, etc. Convenient to expressway, restaurants nearby. We ate at Peppers, great menu, delicious dinner.

I'm really disappointed that I have to leave a poor review. I have been staying at this hotel for years and have always had a great experience. The last 2 stays have been below average. The condition of the property is declining. It's dirty, the beds are uncomfortable, the lights don't work, and they are in desperate need of some remodeling. I love that I can get some coffee and take a walk by the river, but that's the only thing left that is decent about this property.

nice room, close to restaurant/bar

The towels were too old and worn out , everything in this hotel needs an upgrade.

So heres the deal... this was an expensive stay for basically a roadside motel. The primary thing this place has going for it is the staff is great. Otherwise, its just dingy and worn out but to their credit Fortuna just felt worn out to me. I was super disappointed in paying a 5 star price for a 2 star experience. This hotel has been renovated and they tried to make it cute and retro. They have lovely murals in the outside hallways but the lighting is still too dark. Overall, it misses the mark.
Also, its OLD! There is no elevator for 2nd floor rooms. The rooms are clean and there is a very basic breakfast served in the morning. Cereal, coffee, juice etc. The Eel River Riverwalk is only a short walk and that was nice.

No spa, pool area is noisy, staff was rude on a previous visit, breakfast lacked utensils and plates. Outside area is pretty and comfortable. Overall not a bad place but other accommodations in the area are better for less money

The hotel was satisfactory. Breakfast was adequate, not great. The bathroom floor was wet because we couldn't seem to keep the shower water in the enclosure. The location was great. Near 101 and the river walk path, which is next to the Eel River
One big plus was the Tesla charger! Only 6kW, but it was enough. For other EVs, there are chargers next door at the Super 8.

Was a cut rate place with rock hard mattresses

Pool was great. Enjoyed the murals all over the property. Room was clean and beds were not awful.

DO NOT STAY HERE!
Pros: The lobby is cute and there is a nice outdoor courtyard space. They have a continental breakfast. That’s about it though.
Walking in, the room was dingy and just didn’t feel clean. The beds were really soft, not in a good way, but rather that they were really old and past their expiration date by 20 years or so. The sheets were also obviously quite old (lots of pilling) and not in good shape. Horribly uncomfortable. Neither my friend nor I slept well in these beds and we both woke up with our backs hurting (and neither of us have back issues and my friend usually sleeps like a rock.) The heater in the room ran, but did not heat, so we were also quite chilly and there were no extra blankets in the room. The courtyard area was also VERY loud until very late (past midnight).
I had booked for 2 nights based on reviews, and was quite sorry I had.
The next morning, I tried to talk to the front desk about leaving and getting my money back for night 2, but the woman said she just started working there and there wouldn’t be a manager available until 1:00. We ended up checking out anyway and I left my number for someone to call. We decided that we just couldn’t do another terrible night there.
A couple of hours later, I did get a call back from the lady who just started saying her manager said there was nothing they could do because we booked through a 3rd party app. Nothing more offered. What that manager failed to convey is that if I call the 3rd party app, th

Clerk was not very friendly when we checked in. It was an ok place to stay if you are on limited money. Breakfast was to be ready at 7 but nothing was out until about 7:30

Loved the painted walls!
All in all, though, just a hotel. Nice, a little older, OK.

Average motel experience. Rooms are big but Cleanliness needs to be improved

It was ok.

It was quite, however no water pressure and the bed was so hard my back hurts still from it and my husbands too

We were not given much options in the area for places to stay last minute. So we booked based off reviews on Expedia. I wasn’t impressed. The check in lady was pleasant and even offered us pastry because we were leaving early in the morning. But the room itself was mediocre. Felt like an older room but just decorated to look newer. Best way to explain that. But it was good enough for what we needed it for. Good luck.

The hotel was comfortable and accommodating for our 2 day trip on the coast. The employees were friendly and the breakfast bar was convenient for grabbing some nourishment on our way to explore. The room was fairly large and peacefully quiet.

Needs updates. Rooms were dirty. A/C unit was leaking water in the room on the floor. Bed was super hard. Staff members were friendly. Indoor pool was nice.
