It was a little outdated but the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

We were given probably the worst room in the entire hotel. On the entry floor, the first room next to stairs and lifts, we could hear everything, the lift up and down, people talking outside, people going up and down the stairs, in the lobby...
Beds had a gap in between that kept wide opening more and more... what a night.
They call it "themed rooms" with a nautical decor, its just dated and not pleasant. At least it does not smell.

The location the breakfast the cleanliness the friendliness the comfort you cant go wrong with this hotel. The staff are so lovely and helpfull. Especially Ana on reception. She helped me out with my retun check in for our flight. I was having a problem with my phone and she went out of her way to check us in on the computer. Thanks again Ana. I would say no matter what problem you are having they would help you out the best they can. We had a great stay there. Would hsve liked to have stayed longer.

Trashiest hotel experience of my life! I have no idea how this was classified 4 stars, someone somewhere is having a laugh. There was dampness in stairwell. Way finding sign posting was crazy and illogical. The clientele were horrible rowdy British people on all inclusive deals knocking back alcohol and shouting at each other across the pool. The food was depressing. Ordered a chicken salad and it came covered in cocktail sauce like we were stuck in 1980! The scrambled eggs were so overcooked they could doyble up as a weapon and the juice was not fresh but full of sugar and from concentrate. Toiletries were cheap. Decor looks like a cheap office block. The hotel does not have an iron in the whole hotel? It's apparently 4 stars but I have no idea how it got this rating? The phone in my room did not work. The tv automatically turns on and advertises how great the hotel was, I wonder how much they paid people to say it was the best hotel in the world ?(the propaganda didn't work as I was staying there???). On arrival I turned on the bath and the water was brown. So happy to have checked out. Outdated plc3 and a miserable experience.

Great hotel, busy with Thomas Cook travellers however

Great resort in terms of view and surroundings. Also very close walk to the beach. Only thing missing is some amenities like an iron in the room, the beds are also not very comfortable. Overall the staff is very friendly except for the man who makes your eggs in the morning. On more than one occasion he was impolite or made a big deal on small requests like omlettes or even distributing the crepes. I would still go back to this hotel however based on the good qualities outweighing the poor ones.

Great hotel which is very well maintained. Very good breakfast. The hotel has a large pool with a children's side pool, set in a lovely terrace/garden area. It is conveniently located near to the sea front, with a wonderful beach nd plenty of restaurant choices nearby.

We had a great stay at this hotel, lovely rooms and the staff are excellent.
We like to go out of season i.e.:April,may,September because the hotel is child friendly and has a child's activities throughout the busy periods as well as adult persuits ,but not quite are thing.

MY MAIN COMPLAINT WAS DANGER OF LACK OF HAND RAILS IN A VERY SLIPPERY BATH. THE SHOWER COULD ONLY BE USED SAFELY WHEN WE LAID A TOWEL IN THE BATH AS A BATH MAT.

We knew of this hotel but had never stayed here and have been to this resort many times.
We were kindly upgraded to a pool view room. It was a very nicely decorated and obviously with the name had a nautical theme to it, very clean and the upkeep of the room a high standard.
We had a buffet breakfast included which had a very good selection of everything and a chef at an egg station to cook omlettes, fried eggs etc,it was also nice to be able to get breakfast til 10.30am
The hotel itself is at one end of the resort and probably a 20 minute walk to the other end but on the way there are plenty of restaurants to choose from.
It also advertises itself as a child friendly hotel ,as we went out of season there were very few children there but activities were arranged by the pool and music played so I would advise that if you like a more child free zone only to go out of season .
The staff were all very nice and pleasant and I found it difficult to find anything to complain about.
Another nice thing is the management invite you on your last night to meet them and discuss your stay and give them feedback ,something you rarely experience nowadays .
If I had to have a little moan it would be having to pay €2.50 per day for the safe , I haven't done this for many years and seems a retro step.
Wifi was also available and free of charge.

Near the beach. Very family orientated and noisy with holiday reps entertaining children. Very popular with elderly groups. Food rated three stars, evening meal not good value for money compared to local restaurants. Evening entertainment very mediocre and no atmosphere in the bar. Overal not really good value for money.

Nice hotel. Pool area was nice but smaller then it looked in pictures. The buffet was a bit crowded on times but lots of food to choose from. There is a large beach a short walk away, as well as many restaurants and "city centre" area. Great base for exploring the algarve. Overall a great stay, fantastic staff and after travelling many places a great working AC was a great bonus!

Stayed here many times. This time we were upgraded. Initially nice until we discovered our air conditioning was out of order. Phones reception who sent the engineer who appeared to fix it. He said he would come back and check again when we were at dinner. On return from dinner the room was uncomfortably hot. I went to reception and the night manager said they would fix it tomorrow. I stated this was unacceptable so was told tomopen the window ! I asked for a different room and was told there was no alternative. I insisted that the engineer was called in. Eventually at 1.30 am I received a call from reception to say that we could move to another room ! Apparently this evening staff were aware the A/C was irreparable but had not informed the night manager that there was an alternative room. Not the best of nights !

This place should generally be avoided by anyone under age of 50. Unless you plan to go to Portimao every day there is very little to do in hotel neighbourhood and hotel itself.

Nice hotel, lovely swimming pool and hotel staff couldn't do more to help you. The room could have been cleaner but was not dirty. If you are looking for lots of restaurants nearby ie: saving a taxi fares then this is not the town to be. Really surprised at the lack of restaurants although those which are there are very nice.

This was the first holiday my partner and I went on together and found this hotel catered for all our needs. The staff were very friendly. The rooms were an ideal size for the two of us however we requested a double bed but got two twin beds placed together - although we did get a free upgrade and had a spare guest room, and a outdoor patio! - very nice! The pool area was really clean and pleasant. Their clientel is of an older age range, however this again is perfect for those that are looking for a nice quiet get away in which case was perfect for us. We had a bed and breakfast package and the breakfast was amazing. The quality of the food was really nice and catered every possible breakfast type you could ask for. The resort itself was rather quiet we found restaurants are a bit limited to what they offer however nonetheless still pleasing. We did say we would like to return here again but another relaxing holiday. So thumbs up to Villa Gale Nautico.

Vey nice clean hotel. Room was too small for an extra bed so if you have a child maybe get a suite. Excellent pool. Entertainment was o.k the reptile show was good except you cannot take photo's, only buy the ones they are taking. Only sell internet access by the hour & you have to use it all in one hit. No hotel telephone or cash facilities. A short walk from amenities & main bus stop. Lovely beach. Didn't feel happy leaving 4 year old at childrens club, lovely lady running it but activity was with sticks so not good with eight year olds pretending they are spears. Excellent toddler pool but no shelter over it. We ate there most nights as the children could play on the grass. Food was o.k but I guess you get what you pay for. Definately recommend resort, cleanliness of hotel & pools.

The hotel was very comfortable and staff friendly and efficient. Reception staff are fluent in English. Breakfast was first class with an excellent choice in both continental or English. There was live entertainment on most nights we were there and both pools were clean and large enough to swim exercise in.
2.5
A nice hotel, especially as we had a pool view. Breakfast menu was excellent - it catered for everyone.

The Hotel was very beautiful. Staff were very helpful. Rooms were very clean and comfortable very nice pool view. Beach was like 5 minutes walk but there are more nicer beach if you go somewhere like ferragudo. Recommend other people to rent a car to see more places like ferragudo, carvoiera and seville which is like 2 hours drive. There's a chinese restaurant 3 minutes walk from the hotel which is very cheap and nice food. Overall, we enjoyed our holiday in the algarve.

We went to get some early summer sun. Gentles walks and relaxing sun bathing were our goal. The hotel was in a lovely location, with good restaurants and beaches nearby. There were bus connections to neighboring towns. The hotel itself was comfortable, clean and had everything you could want. Indoor and outdoor pools, not bad food, a bar, a gym and sauna. We're in our late twenties, and chose to go when most guests were in their 60's but that was fine. I wouldn't go if you're looking for a big nightlife, but to relax and while the time away, it wouldn't get much better!

The hotel is very confortable and has everything you would need to relax. Close to the beach. The room walls are quite thin, so if you have noisy or loud neighbors and do not sleep easily this can be an issue. The staff is very helpful and they do their best to accomodate everybody's needs. The breakfast is particularly good, complete and abundant.

It was my 4th visit to this comfortable hotel and enjoy it every time

we stayed in a junior suite and the rooms were clean, The double bed wasn't very good though - hard and noisy. We were visited by ants one day and the staff were quick to act on them, The kids liked the pools. The indoor is quite small though so with the bad weather it was quite busy. Breakfast was Ok with enough choice even for my picky daughter! Will consider going again.

Hotel was very clean,no problems checking in but it did take about 30 mins to check out! Only criticism of rooms is that the beds creaked whenever you turned over in bed and there was a plastic bed protector on the mattress, which was very unpleasant. Breakfast offered a good selectionof food to suit all. Did not eat in hotel in evening but there are several good local restaurants. Not much to do locally but lovely coastal walk and old village.

We've just come back from a fantastic holiday at this hotel! We stayed for 4 days in February - it wasn't at all crowded so we had plenty of access to the indoor pool and to the sunloungers around the outdoor pools as well as to the games in the hotel. (Table football, pool etc) The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and there was plenty of food.

My fiancé and I stayed at this hotel from 5/12/ - 10/12 05 and found it very well presented, efficiently run with friendly and helpful staff. We arrived around 9am due to an early flight and were checked in immediately without any fuss. The breakfast buffet was very good, plenty of fresh fruit and other hot items. We had the dinner buffet once and there was a good selection of food items. Our only gripe with the hotel was the soundproofing in the rooms, we could hear the conversation of the couple a few rooms away. Also, the bed was not very comfortable, very stiff and there was no team making facilities, scandalous!! But other than this, the service was impeccable and clannishness was top notch. I hear Armacoa De Pera is a busy resort in the summer, well in the winter, it's very, very, very, very quiet.....be warned!

Nice Hotel and staff, nice food, great long sandy beach.

Make no mistake this is an excellent well run and comfortable hotel. We booked Bed and Breakfast with a pool view. The full breakfasts were well up to English standards. We ate in the hotel most nights and the evening meal was reasonably priced. You probably need a car to get the most out of the area, although public transport is good. The beach is less than 5 minutes walk and there is a lovely cliff top walk adjacent to the hotel.
2.5
This hotel is extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. The rooms, public areas, bars, swimming pools are all kept to a high standard of cleanliness. One night the pool attendant was cleaning after midnight. A room with a pool view is definitely worth the little extra as you can also see across to the sea and the sun is there all day.You can hardly hear the traffic noise. Another plus is that it is mainly Portuguese people that stay in this area. So everything is very laid back. We had bed and breakfast and the food was lovely. We hired a car for the week though, and I would recommend that anyone thinking of going to Armacao De Pera do the same. Recommended and would visit again.

This hotel is very family orinted so if you aren't prepared to be around a lot of children, this may not be the hotel for you. It is a very good hotel...spacious rooms, great staff, excellent breakfast, public parking is in front of the hotel and it is very close to a very nice beach. We would stay there again!
