We went for the annual Cambria Christmas market. It was amazing the bus to take us to the market stopped right in front of the hotel!!!

The gentleman who checked us was very professional and friendly. The room was clean, and very spacious actually. We did not have a patio or balcony, but the view at the fire pit of the ocean was spectacular. Will definitely stay here again.

We love staying at the Fog Catcher whenever we go to Cambria! Beautiful location on the beach, and we really enjoy the fireplace in each room.

Room had a beautiful backlit vanity mirror but unfortunately lights flickered so much it made the lights useless. I would have loved the light up huge mirror to work making it easier for makeup application instead of overhead lights. A Woman checking in before us stated she loves the place I can see why, it has a great location to boardwalk along the coastline best enjoyed during a morning or sunset walk. The boardwalk also had a few benches along the trail to sit and watch the sunset, I would recommend staying there when you visit Cambria for this reason alone. Rooms include the fake fireplace for heat, small closet/mini kitchen with microwave and small fridge no freezer though. Room also offers Lather bath products. I had never heard of the product line but ended up loving how my hair felt and smelled all day so much that I looked up to see if you could purchase online and you can! I'm excited to have the hotels products at home. Also about the secret ---a we met a lady at the boardwalk while sitting on bench watching the sunset, she told us she has traveled here often and loves to visit she said this was an awesome place we agreed with her then she told us to keep it (Cambria) a secret, it quite literally is a gem. I'm glad my husband said he wanted to stay at this hotel it really made our stay feel special for our our 8th Anniversary. We can't wait to stay at FogCatcher soon we even started looking at future dates before even checking out. Book this place don't cheap out.

The location was great. The bed was very comfy, and the fireplace was a nice touch. The closet was dirty and dusty. I worried about dirtying my stuff. The tv options were a bit dated, but it could've been worse. Staff was friendly. Check in and out were super easy.

Comfy bed, nice quiet room, clean, a generous amount of towels, nice fireplace. Room looked larger in online pics than it actually was, rather expensive for a room without a balcony. Paint and wallpaper peeling in places. Hard water makes showering a little less effective.

Room was spacious and confortable with view of the ocean which was nice being that my wife and I were celebrating our 28th wedding aniversary. The one drawback was after being out most of the morning we came back to find the room undone. Went I went to the front desk to ask about it I was told I needed to request maid service if I wanted the room and bathroom cleaned. I was never notified of that when we checked in the previous night. I was told by the front desk the manager would call to offer a remedy, they never did. Cambria is a favorite place for my wife and I having made this stop as part of our honeymoon 28 years ago. This is one of a few places we've stayed in Cambria. I don't think we'll be staying here again.

liked - by the ocean and boardwalk, walking distance to a few restaurants, large rooms. not liked - noisy room as the 904 room backs to PCH, carpet needs a clean, landscape is almost non existent. next time I’ll look at other hotels in the area.

Closeness to the beach was what I liked the best 💕

Don’t get the Fiji water $$$ other than that place doesn’t have AC but weather is changing little warm. Place is clean, pool and jacuzzi is nice. Price can be lower.

I did not like there was no breakfast included but made it sound like it was.The room was ok but the site glass had paper stuffed into it because it was broken. The screens in the bathroom window were very dirty. The carpet was stained, No exercize room. Hot tub and pool were very clean and warm. Only a soda vending machine and no snacks. The day office staff were not very friendly and hospitable. They did not make me feel welcome.

This was a great location with really good restaurants and the beach right in walking distance. You can’t beat that!

Very nice hotel, with a nice ocean view

Not worth the $350 per night. The partial ocean view was a joke. Through the cars to see it was an ocean, you had to stand by the front door or stand by the window. That doesn’t count in our estimate. No longer serving breakfast. Charging $5 per bottled water. The windows are very hard to open. The generous room size and fireplace were the value. It was a very good mattress. Tired furnishings. You've lost us.

We absolutely loved the location, the look of the property, and our room. At first we thought the indoor/outdoor carpet was unappealing, but after walking on the beach, which is directly across the street, we realized that there really wasn't a better option. The sand is slightly sticky and I would imagine guests constantly tracking it into the room and it would be very hard to remove.
The window dressings worked surprisingly well - they use a blackout fabric that keeps the outside light from coming in the room.
The clock definitely needs updating/replacing - would be an easy thing to do. The wire in the back kept glitching so it never told the right time. Also VERY dated charging port(s).
The fireplace was awesome, and they have an extensive selection of channels. Overall, a great stay.

We had a room with an ocean view and the property was very serene. The only thing missing that would have made our stay perfect was a balcony to enhance the view.

This was a first time stay. We loved it. We attended 2 weddings it just so happened same weekend same area ! Check in time is too late in the day. Earlier check in time would be great. See you soon.

Great spot right across from the beach. Felt like a resort. Nice pool and nicely set up rooms.

Fogcatcher was a nice little stay for 2 nights for my partner and I. I should have read the property listing better because I didn't notice there was no air conditioning. During the day the room was really hot but the front desk had a fan thankfully. The spa and fire pit were really lovely.

Loved the location of property, property does need a bit of wrk on exterior. Front desk service was not bad but not great just because we had requested a king bed and got a queen so we asked for a roll away bed or cod but never got a response or reply back. I hate to write negative things but this was just out experience other than that you can’t ask for a better beach from location literally across the st from the beach.

This property was so cute right in moonstone beach. Our room was cozy and clean and perfect for our night in Cambria. The pool and hot tub even had a view of the ocean. Just walk across the road and there’s a beautiful boardwalk along the beach perfect for a morning or evening stroll. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful location, quiet, right on Moonstone Beach. Friendly, helpful staff. Easy walk to Moonstone Bar and Grill. Mini fridge and fireplace in room were nice. Could use an update, windows wouldn't all stay open (push up windows) and sills were dirty. Beds sagged in the middle but were decent. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Some rooms are a bit outdated but it’s also across from the ocean. Lots of wear and tear.
I’ve stayed there many times but this last visit was horrendous and the staff was terrible. Unfortunately,on Sat night 7/27 we were running late for check in. I was confident it was ok as most hotels have office hours until at least 10p. Still on the road, we get a phone call that no one would be checking us in. Office closing at 9pm due to staff shortage. Mind you, the courtesy call was 20mins before 9pm. The staff member asked us to go check in at the sister hotel- ocean point ranch. Ok. He informed us, no one would be available at Fogcatcher until 11a the next day. I also asked if we could request late check out? The staff member said yes, to call office at 11. Ok! On our way and if you know how dark Cambria is… ocean point is further down. Fine we did it. I will until almost 11a the next morning. The gal on the phone clearly stated no. So unapologetically apologized. I’d rather her hang up on me to be honest. I then go to the office to check out and again. I told her what had happened and no form of empathy whatsoever. It was almost like she did not believe mme. She mentioned only two people are allowed late check out a day. Then told me to have a nice day. Again. No sincere apology. Not even, in sorry but I will inform the manager. Nothing this was not ok. At this point… I no longer cared about getting an extra 1 hour to check out. Really about customer service. Never again FCI

We had a pleasant but short stay at the FogCatcher, as the half-way point of a Pacific Coast Highway drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Cambria is lovely, and the FogCatcher is one of a dozen motel/inns offering the same set-up, directly across the street from the stony beach and ocean.
Two issues took the FogCatcher down a star:
1. We checked in at 845pm without incident, and were given a laminated page with all the restaurants in the area, their cuisines, and closing times. There must have been 30 of them, in small 10-point font. We took this to our room, but by the time we were ready to order, it was 9:15pm. Uh-uh. Everything closed at 9:00pm. Except for one place open until 11:00pm on every day but Tuesday, the day we were there. I was annoyed that the somebody didn't say something when we checked in, something as effortless as “oh and by the way, all 30 of these restaurants close in 15 minutes, on the off-chance you’re thinking of eating dinner.” It would have saved us much grief. So word to the wise on that.
2. Breakfast was also stressful. The FogCatcher strongly recommended their “sister” motel, the Cow Tipper, promising breakfast in their restaurant or delivered to the FogCatcher with a phone call. In the morning I opted to visit in person, but after waiting 25 minutes for my single breakfast burrito, I had to ask for it to go. I can’t imagine it being delivered! Lots of other breakfast options there in Cambria - most with a view, so try them instead.

I loved this place. The view of the coast and wak on the beach right across the street was awesome. We enjoyed the hot tub with a fire pit and heated pool in the evening. The fireplace in the room was nice as well as plenty of room with a sitting area. A desk, fridge, microwave, desk, dresser, large tv ,an area for luggage storage and a decent bathroom with shower tub combination. It showed it's age a little and the bathroom could be larger, but overall a great place. There is room service or a restaurant at sister resort but we didn't use it. We ordered pizza delivery and brought danishes from our trip in through Solvang. Visited Hearrst Castle which was beautiful ❤️
