Very helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful grand exterior and very interesting breakfast menu. Everyone we met was extremely polite and kind, which we appreciated after a very long 2 days travelling. thank you! Sadly quite a bit of the hotel was being renovated so we weren’t able to access it but the parts we saw very very nice.

A bit of relatively quiet luxury, in what is often the dusty and humid city of San Jose. Except for the absence of a swimming pool (they have two Jacuzzis on the roof instead), it is a lovely hotel.
4.8
VIP member and received quarter bottle of wine rather than whole bottle as entitled and expected to sgare with travelling companion.
Breakfast only allowed for ONE cappuccino even though it cost $27! My companion paid $14 for same experience paid separately. Totally outrageous situation

Very nice hotel. Good location.

Service and restaurant was excellent! The only downside was the insufficient lighting in the room.
4.8
The staff was absolutely great. They were able to make recommendations for local restaurants and easily coordinated excursions

Amazing place, great restaurant, beautiful architecture, great staff, loved the place

We had a 2 night trip in San Jose after “roughing it” for 2 weeks all over Costa Rica. We splurged on this place so we could get some good rest and we did! Also really liked the hot tub. We did not eat in the restaurant (very pricy) but found a wonderful cafe around the corner for breakfast. Would go back.

The food at the hotel was excellent. The service level was very good, attentive, efficient and professional. The front desk took every opportunity to make us feel welcome.

Amazing old city architecture in the heart of San Jose, pretty close to Central Market and Museums. Great restaurant with open air courtyard. Very neat!
4.8
For the price I would expect a much nicer room. It’s clean and bed is comfortable but it’s cramped and dark the restaurant is very good. Next time we’ll just eat here.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They really made us feel special as we were staying there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Recommended.

Staff could not have been more helpful. Food is delicious a d the atmosphere is very soothing and calm. Different than an American hotel with all the local charm
4.8
Wonderful hotel with a great restaurant.
4.8
Air conditioning was extremely slow to change temperature. Found mosquitos and small bugs in the bathroom due to no screens on windows.
4.8
Excellent staff, from the reception desk and housekeeping to the waiters in the restaurant, outstanding. Of course this includes the kitchen staff who provided exquisite meals. The ambiance is charming and warm, will stay there again. Great boutique hotel - 40 or so bedrooms in total - with a good location to explore San Jose.By the way, at an astonishing low price.

Beautiful rooms, outstanding service and delicious breakfast!

It is a wonderful charming hotel in an otherwise busy city! Very relaxing! Perfectly located.
4.8
This is a very high end hotel with impeccable service. Our dinner was the best yet after 2 weeks of travelling through the country.

They were very helpful and we had a great stay.

Very elegant hotel

Unique, beautiful courtyards and massages to garden and spas. Staff was outstanding and spoke fluent English. Just a special place and a historic alternative to the major hotel chains.
4.8
This is an exceptional historic property. The colonial house architecture is authentic restoration. Windows doors floors moldings etc are beautiful. Even the hardware on the windows is original certainly not from some restoration company. The art in the rooms are originals mostly coffee related simple but attractive. The restaurant is layed out around the courtyard with the original huge windows opening out to the court with outdoor seating there as well. The restaurant furnishings avoid being homogeneous and are understatedly in tune with the architecture. Food and service are top shelf fine dining. The barman is excelent. This place is extraordinary.

Easy check in ... pleasant staff. Lovely restaurant

Great boutique hotel. Older and more traditional, but very tasteful and nice. Would recommend for anyone visiting San Jose.

We loved our time in San José, Costa Rica. The hotel is really nice and the staff is super friendly.
I would absolutely return to this property.
4.8
Beautiful property with nice staff. They told us they didn't have a room to upgrade us to.
4.8
The room, jacuzzi, hotel, and restaurant were all exceptional. The building is gorgeous with lots of plants, fountains, and beautiful artwork.
4.8
The hotel is unique. Lots of corridors with interesting old photos or orchids, interior courtyards with fountains, etc. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The restaurant was good (highly recommend the duck!) but my sons tenderloin that he ordered medium came rare, and wasn’t very good when they tried again.

This is a beautiful hotel! The staff was excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you
