Pros: -Close to Dog Beach and in a very quiet area. -Lots of options for food/ bars nearby -Comfortable beds -Good sized rooms -Friendly staff -Dog friendly rooms have a back patio you can let your furry friends out into a fenced area Cons: -Very dated and not very well maintained -Very tight parking on the property -Downstairs rooms are loud- you can hear every footstep from the upstairs guests. This was the worst part about the room. -Bathrooms are clean, but rather dilapidated. Overall- for the ~$80/ night it was worth it, but during the busy season rates are double and I would be truly disappointed. Also- despite not parking in their space, I was going to be charged for parking- so check your bill before you leave for incidental charges. Also(2), right in the flight path for San Diego International and it is a constant flow of jets overhead, but I did not hear any of that inside the room. Overall a great little place if you plan to NOT spend a lot of time in the room (just a place to sleep).

The room was very clean, property was quiet and had a great beach view. The front desk employee was very helpful, courteous, and explained where you can find food and attractions as we explained it was our first time there. He also explained the food truck for breakfast which was also a plus. We'd definitely come back.

Terrible place. I don’t know how this place gets good reviews. Dated, rusty, thin ceilings, poor showers that run out of water, run out of parking spaces and charge for it. Let customers of the coffee shop park in spaces. The towels are pathetic and can’t even dry entire body for one person and old and cheap. Beds greats feeling, sofa sleeper was a futon. Broken door lock. Sliding screen doesn’t slide, beds hard and uncomfortable. Dingy motel 8 vibe. Not cute boutique vibe Close to beach, that’s it. Pool wasn’t open, but I knew that prior. Should be less than $100 a night and free parking

My stay was comfortable and I like the fact there was a little outside restaurant right next to the hotel driveway. The room was not the most updated but moderately clean. The table and chairs on the deck was badly rusted but fortunately there was a bench to sit on to enjoy the view.

The room I had was infested with bed bugs. Additionally, there was no sound insulation, so I got very little sleep due to the guests in the room above me stomping around late into the night and then again early in the morning.

Room was clean but there was nowhere to sit in the room except the bed. Balcony was nice with great view but had uncomfortable chair. Early check in had us put bags in a back room unsecured until room was ready. Laundry facility was unusable as no option to get change for coin operation.

The room they gave us was not at all what we booked, we are a family of 5 2 teens and a pre teen and we booked a room with 2 beds and a sofa sleeper the room they gave us only had to 2 beds one was completely broken and sunken in. The shower was filthy and even with shoes on slippery the floors were dirty and dressers were all broken and to top ot off the door didn't even close right and the blinds were broken . Wish i would have thought to take pictures

We took our dogs to the beach for the first time. Ocean Villa Inn provides a good service, giving access, to dog (pet) owners, to the dog Mecca. Our dogs had so much fun, they've been asleep for 2 days since.

The guy who checked me in was kind but the hotel was pretty old and run down. The attendant told me he was going to waive the parking fee but I don’t know if there actually was one. He then told me we could park anywhere but unfortunately there were absolutely no parking spots available on the property. We got in around midnight and had to drive off the property to see if we could park in the surrounding community but it didn’t feel completely safe and I had my daughter with me. So we went back and I found a handicap parking spot and took the risk assuming and praying someone with an actual disability wasn’t going to check into this place between midnight and 6 (when we left). The rooms were pretty old and the heating/cooling box didn’t work very well either. It dis serve it’s purpose and we had a bed for the evening.

This hotel was ideal for taking your dog along for the trip. Our room opened up to an enclosed dog run with AstroTurf for dogs to run and go to the bathroom. It was cleaned daily for sanitary reasons. The property was literally next to a beach called Dog Beach dedicated to dogs. It was a great place for the dogs to run, play, and socialize. My dog had so much fun. While the hotel was not so nice, the location and the incredible number of dog friendly restaurants was fantastic. I recommend it.

Location good, staff were great. Property could be really charming but very outdated. AC was so loud, ceiling fan made clicking noise, bathroom was YUCK. Rusted out old fixtures no glass globe on ceiling light. people who are saying wonderful I am confused. Starting to question those on Hotels.com. This is decent but NOT wonderful.

The room was clean, nice and roomy. It was right on the beach and made it easy to get too. If you like dogs there is a big dog beach park there as well. I would highly recommend for a beachfront stay.

Typical beach hotel, great location but worn and run down, rooms really need a facelift. We only had one chair in our room so when we asked for another they brought it right away. I like the texting method of communication, quick and easy. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Only negative would be the patio furniture which was rusty and old, whereas other nearby patios had newer furniture. The beach in Ocean Beach is just beautiful, we really enjoyed our visit.

We stayed one night during a week stay in California to get my Ocean fix. Room was clean, staff polite and courteous. We plan to bring our doggo someday soon. Don’t stay here of you are not a lovable dog person. Walking to the beach way of the dog beach walkway was fun. A doggo made friends with me and didn’t want me to go.

The only issue I had was dogs with no leash on back yard was not able to enjoy it. Big dog poop in front of my back door. When I complained at the desk I was told that was normal and they couldn’t do anything about it dogs were aloud to be without a leash

Do not let the pictures on Hotels.com fool you. The shower was so dirty I wore my flip flops while I showered. Every wall was marked up and dirty appearing. There were dressers for clothes but they were beat up and dirty. The pool was filthy when I checked in..however, there was a pool guy there when I left in the morning. Only plus..walking distance to the beach.
