Awesome place. Would definitely go back!

Cala Luna was a cute boutique hotel. The service was amazing, the food at the restaurant, highly recommend and the layout respected the landscape. However, for the price compared to other places we went to in Costa Rica, this property was way overpriced. First the rooms though comfy didn't have much storage space and if you had another guest next door, you can hear everything. We had one guy snoring next door to us and watching TV at 3am making it a challenge to sleep. Also, when we went it was low season with only 26 guests so they adjusted the options for breakfast, which was okay for us. If you get this place for $300 CDN then okay, but your high end experience will not be that of Tamarindo Diria or Westin. For comparison, for 4 nights it was $2000 CDN and that was down season.

The staff were great and always went above and beyond.

No an ocean view property, unless you walk to the beach. VIP was not offered, we paid to upgrade our rooms. Service superb, food fresh farm to table, spa service experience by Andrea and Priscilla turned it all to a must must must go back. The property offers free Yoga, work out and Sound bath, by Andrea, Priscilla and Scott, one of the best!

The hotel was nice, and the room was beautiful, but what made my stay amazing was the amazing service providers. Not only were they helpful and friendly, but they went out of their way to make sure that you were enjoying your stay and would go above and beyond to help increase the overall experience.

Great rooms. Great breakfast and restaurant. Great free activities like yoga, aerobics, sound bath.
Beach area a little tight. No chairs.

This boutique hotel was absolutely breathtaking! The slow meditative music, gourmet food, stunning rooms, unique decor and gorgeous bathroom. This hotel is a must stay if you enjoy a healing experience.

Wonderful experience with monkeys on the property. Great staff and excellent food! Definitely would love to come back!

- **Room Issues:** There was no hot water in my room for two days, and the air conditioning didn’t work upon my arrival, taking nearly two hours to repair.
- **Mosquito Control:** Unlike other resorts I’ve visited in the Caribbean and Mexico, Cala Luna did not have outdoor mosquito repellent incense lit up during meals, which would have enhanced the dining experience.
Additionally, I discovered that there was a trash area just meters away from my room. Hotel workers mentioned that this contributed to an increased infestation of spiders, insects, and mosquitoes, amplifying the issue and making it difficult to enjoy the outdoor spaces. Occasionally, the odor was really pungent.
- **Checkout Process:** The checkout process was frustrating, with multiple computing errors causing a delay of over 30 minutes.

They dont believe in thresholds for the entrance doors. There were pleny of bugs including a hand size spider in the kitchen. It was so large I had to kill it with a chair leg. There was no way I could sleep in this beutiful condo with the bugs and big gaps in the entrance doors. The large spider was the last straw. The entrance roads were unpaved. Potholes big enough to damage your car. Cala Luna is a great place if you dont care about large spiders and many other sa\ma;; pests that you can hear when you sleep. I left and booked at another place after I killed that whopper spider. Whoh!!!

Beautiful property and very friendly staff!

The night I checked in it was pouring rain. As they showed me the long way to get to my room so I could see around, they did not help me with my luggage but did hand me an umbrella. I had my suitcase, shoulder bag and the umbrella while all she had was her umbrella. Then when I was checking out they tried to charge me close to $300 extra. Also, I had made an error while booking my stay and they said they weren’t able to help me with my situation because I booked it through Expedia. However, other resorts have been able to help me. When I went down to the beach there were no chairs down there and no one to help me or bring one down for me.
I was very disappointed with this resort and def would not give them 5 stars. Possibly 3.5

This is our 3rd time staying at Cala Luna and we absolutely love it! It gets better each time we return! The rooms are so incredibly lovely, the howler monkeys surrounding the property are a delight but above all the staff is the best! Especially in the restaurant and bars - they are so incredibly welcoming and nice! Andres the bartender is a true mixologist (you have to try his mezcal cocktails)! The beds are so comfortable and it’s a one minute walk to a not crowded beach! The room are well thought out with great detail! We will absolutely come back again!

Poor service, poor planing of yoga class times and classes in general, disappointed at the beach. Unfriendly at the desk, wrong reservation at the spa, poor service at the restaurant and pool bar. Overall really disappointed. Many other great option in the area

Service was great, room was very nice, food was great, no complaints. I would definitely stay here again!

This is a wonderful property with very good amenities. For us, a perfect location close enough to Tamarindo but without the crowds. The grounds were very tropical and the pool a welcome respite from the unusual heat during our visit. The beach is only a short walk away and for us a nice mix of rock and sand. The restaurant was very good and the seafood fresh. The overall experience, however, was spoiled by a night-long power outage that resulted in no A/C or fan for the whole night. Miserable end to a nice visit. We paid for three nights and the hotel fell short of delivering.

Truly enjoyed our stay at the Cala Luna. We stayed in a 2 Queen Bedroom. The hotel is eco friendly, be sure to have your own reusable water bottle -- they have water coolers on site. It's a quick walk to the beach and the pool wonderful. I loved the array of food offered and amazing drinks to cleanse the body and soul! If you like cats, they have many cute kitties on the grounds. Super friendly.
The hotel is walkable to town, about 20-25 minutes. You can also rent bikes, pay $6 to take shuttle to/from hotel or have the hotel rent a golf cart for you! I would definitely come back. The staff is very helpful and super friendly!

Everything was perfect. The property is a tropical paradise. The beach was a very easy walk and very private. Food was fabulous as well and service was very attentive.

Incredible staff and service!

Hotel was nice and just 30sec walk to the beach. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Location is about 20min walk from town or <5min drive, but they also have a shuttle service for about $6 each way which was well worth it. The only issue we had was with the standing water in our tub that the hotel staff did not come fix, but otherwise, the property was well kept. The food was a bit pricey on the property, but the quality was pretty good.

We picked perfect place. Great location to downtown and beach. Very friendly and helpful staff

What a beautiful hotel. Great food and facilities. There were even monkeys in the trees above the pool.

Cala Luna is a beautifully put together property. Compact and comprehensive.
The staff is wonderful.
Our dinners were terrific.
I had a good massage.
Our room 301 sometimes had an odor of waste, I suspect we were near their disposal. Other rooms are probably fine.
For a tropical local the lack fruit at breakfast was noticeable to customers.

Me, my wife and son had a great time at Cala Luna. Its a unique setup indeed, with paths snaking through the jungle en-route to your room or villa. We arrived at night and it was rather impressive.
The staff were friendly, professional and very attentive. The chefs/cooks are top notch.
We had a secluded deluxe room which was really nice and private(until other guests arrived in the adjoining room). It was very clean with a soaker tub you can skate board in. The room isn't that large but was fine for us. Only small issue was the fact that there was a room attached and we could hear through the walls easily if you have loud neighbors. This was only for the last night before we left in the morning so I think they schedule the guests in a manner to help avoid this which was appreciated. The cleaning staff was very efficient.
The beach was a short fun walk down a path at the rear near our room.
We saw howler monkeys overhead, an eagle/hawk?(lol), and some other wildlife withing the hotel grounds. you might hear some action on your roof at night :). probably why you cant open the room windows.
The hotel is in an awesome location, the perfect distance from the action to get peaceful nights and close enough to get the center of it all in minutes.
Next time I think we will stay in one of the 2 bedroom villas they have with a private pool, private parking and separate entrance.
I highly recommend Cala Luna. Pua Vida!

Best vacation spot!!!

Cala Luna is a wonderful choice if looking to stay in the Tamarindo area! It’s not right in the heart, so you are away from the hustle and bustle of the city but also generally close. We walked most times, about a 10-15 minute walk or a 5 minute bike right (free bikes for use). The staff was absolutely wonderful. I had a 90 minute spa treatment from Priscilla and I can’t recommend her enough, she was amazing. We did a fishing charter and the chef cooked up our fresh mahi mahi. We are thinking about exploring getting married at this place! Such a peaceful vibe, very clean rooms and attentive staff. Can’t recommend enough!

This hotel is in a great spot in the city walking distance to the main tourist trap area and close to a great Beach for sunset drinks provided by the hotel. All in a great experience, clean well appointed, checks all the boxes.

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights. We were looking for a nice small hotel experience with attention to detail. Cala Luna lived up to our expectations. The staff was excellent and were always aware if we needed something, but also left us alone if we didnt. They were always keeping the area clean and tidy. We loved the massage treatment, which was like nothing we had experienced before. We tried yoga ( which we are inexperienced at) but she made us feel so welcome. We were pleasantly surprised how close the ocean was, just down a private pathway. A nice walk along the beach to Tamarindo (as long as the tide is out) or another option is a safe walk on the sidewalks down into town (15 mins). The whole area is very pet friendly. Dogs on the beach and cats at the hotel. Our airport shuttle driver Hugo, from the hotel, was so kind, he even serenaded us with a lovely Costa Rican song. We would most definitely come again.

Beautiful property, lovely staff, breakfast is great! Love that they have mosquito repellent lotion in the rooms and around the property that actually smells nice. Sunsets are unreal and the connected beach has a great view, along with a cute sunset happy hour on the beach

The jungle setting was spectacular, very tranquil and calming. Staff was very accommodating.

Excellent service throughout. Clean and spacious. Each room has a nice outside covered patio with hammock area. Poolside was relaxing and calm with exception of nearby howler monkeys :). Food was delicious. Spa treatments were excellent. And of course one minute walk down to the beach. The only downside was what the hotel couldn’t control - the mosquitos. Wonderful place to holiday. Will return again.

Karol was AMAZING! She provided the best customer service ! She was able to upgrade our room honoring my VIP status.
The al-La-carte breakfast was pretty good. Room was very clean and bed was cozy. Super cute boutique hotel. They are also connected to a gorgeous white sand beach. Very close to a lot of great restaurants
