Hotel room was alright, you could say very good. Sadly everything else was mediocre at best. Food was not really good, lot of it felt like microwave food quality. Imagine a pizza that the kids wont eat, that's exactly what we had... There are some wild animals roaming around the property, especially at night, so if you are not comfortable with that then stay away from this resort. They have a fenced in area with some crocodiles. Also it smells really bad in certain areas, sewer like smell. The beach was unusable, due to amount of algae on the beach and in the water. I tried going in, it felt like stepping through mud, not pleasant at all. So, if you dont want to be confined to the pool, choose a different resort. There is nothing in the area really, it would take you some 30 minutes walk across some unpaved road to reach some civilization or local place Puerto Morelos. Taxi is very expensive and they do not offer free shuttles to any location, like many other places do.This is my 4th time in Mexico and sadly this was the worst experience. Lots of food remains from room service seems to be left for hours, sometimes even an entire day/night in the open stairways/hallways, attracting animals. I have no idea how this place received such a high rating...

Coming to this resort we knew the beach area wasn’t great. We were ok with that because the cost of the stay was excellent. The resort is beautiful and you’re able to use the two other sister hotels. Great variety of food choices. One is connected to El CID and the other one is across the street. Many choices of restaurants, pools, golf cart transportation and entertainment. For those that have never gone to the Cancún area, September is a perfect month to go. It’s low season and resorts are not overly crowded. It would recommend this resort. Only downfall was “Pushy Staff” trying sell their timeshare. I am bi-lingual therefore I squashed that fairly quickly! She was unaware that I heard her telling the other staff members that I was rude her. Lady, I am on vacation. I decide what I want to do with my time there, not you!

Food is great. Place is clean ( smell of the lobby is sulphuric tho) Our suite was wonderful. We stayed in for a day because it rained, maid service still done while we went for the Alhambra buffet. We were very impressed!
Staff were respectful and attentive.

They didnt have free wifi. I hope they do have free wifi now. Even 1 star motel gives free wifi these days. It's 2024 now. Getting data roaming is much cheaper than $20 a day wifi. Please make wifi free. Don't play cheap.

Pros:Beautiful grounds, nice clean, large pool with entertainment good food, friendly staff. Our favorite server at Dolores was Rodolfo.Very knowledgeable and hard working.Kobo and french restaurant are the best. Disappointed with Aakat this year.
Cons: additional fees not included while booking package on expedia upon checkin $19 per day, no room substitution option unless extra charge is paid even in the same room category. New fee of 20$ per hour for late chechout(last year we got 2 free hours)

First time visiting Cancun - we had a family of 11. It was very enjoyable overall. Lots of activities for everyone. The teens enjoyed the main pool where they could swim up and order lots of drinks, play volleyball, and jump off the cliff and use the slides. My sister and I played with my 10 month old niece on the swallow end and she loved it.
Toni was our favorite staff at the resort - very friendly
Wait staff at all the locations, pool side and resteraunts were wonderful.
Downsides - hostesses. Terrible attitudes. The buffet especially, there was an instance where my parents showed up 30 mins later, and so we asked if they could sit at a table near us. The hostess rudely grabbed the napkin out of the waiters hand and said NO. and moved our parents to the far end of the buffet. ** no worries. After she left, he said they could sit near us anyway. I don't understand why she did that... Our section was empty.
Another thing to note is the WIFI. You are only allowed to connect to 2 devices. That's it. You’ll have to pay for more.
Beaches are a hit or miss.
But overall - trip was great kids had a wonderful time and I would go back :)
Book at KOBO if you can!

The good:
Excellent property! Best dinning from all family resorts I’ve stayed in Mexico. Great service in general.
The bad:
Only give you 2 wifi connections per family. This is unacceptable and very odd for 2024. Management needs to get with the times. I would pick another resort just on this.
I saw a resturant staff secretly making fun of a customer. Also unacceptable.

Some of the staff with the exception of waiters, were rude. The treatment is pretty obvious with just regular people vacationing and members of their hotel, starting with the wristbands. No premium liquor, unless you’re a member, and you have to pay for WiFi. Not the best experience.

Everything was amazing but the beach is pretty smelly and the water isn’t that clean, and they charge you an extra 150 dollar fee on arrival for “hotel fees” which is non refundable and they kind of push a room upgrade which gives you a nicer view but when you book the room, it says ocean side but it’s not and that was a 300 dollar upgrade as well. Everything else on the resort was amazing, food was good at most places, drinks were also great everywhere, they have multiple pools and the staff is very nice. There is one club on the resort but I wouldn’t say that there’s that great of a night life, it’s a lot of older couples and kids so not much of a party resort but free room service 24/7 and good food and drinks, i recommend to others while also being cautious about the things I spoke about.

This is our second stay at el cid. And we just love everything about it. The food is always great. The lobster tails at the marina were sooo good. The new Japanese restaurant was so good. The pools were awesome. We loved everything about our stay. Will deff return.

The room have bedbug. My child got. And I feel itch when I sleep. The air conditioning on the 5th floor is not cold enough. It's difficult to book a restaurant, so we can only eat buffet

Overall my family and I had a great time at this resort. I’m surprised that most of food was actually pretty good except for Alhambra ( very limited food options for a buffet). The staff were very accommodating and had great hospitality in which they upgraded my room to a one bedroom instead of two double bed room. My only complaint was that my room does have a smell so when our housekeeper comes in I had to tell her to spray freshener every time she cleans the room. All in all, beautiful resort and very family friendly place so I highly recommend!!

Meh! The only good thing about this resort is the staff members. They are very polite. The resort itself is lacking so many things, there’s no snack bars, not enough entertainment, and overall very boring. We had to go out of the resort just to experience fun so we will not come back at all. The beach is terrible 0/10, the food is 4/10, the pool is 6/10, entertainment is 5/10.

We just got back from a 7 day vacation at Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort. The hotel is ok, but if you're going for the beach, don't go there. Beach was HORRIBLE. They have a huge beach problem and it's un-swimmable. We tried couple times, but impossible. they have installed some kind of sand bags to block the waves. Because of stacked water the beach was so dirty. We had to walk 15 minutes to get to a different resort next to Marina El-Cid, which was not comfortable with kids. We couldn’t use umbrellas and chairs in other resort beach , which was so clean. We were very disappointed. They have many pools, 2 of them are infinity pools. The main pool was getting dirty (you can find a bunch of hairs in the bottom). The buffets are ok , with repeating meals all the time. The Italian restaurant waiters were not so friendly, even forgot to bring many orders.
Something that you should know, the hotel charges a resort fee of $19 USD per room per night and that's not included in the package. The resort fee only includes wi-fi access for 2 devices only. So if you are thinking about bringing a laptop, forget about it. I would have appreciated to know this before. I will not come back this resort next time. I had much better experience with Iberostar hotel, which has nice and clean beach and pools with variety of meals.. If you will not change your beach you will lose a lot of travelers!!!

I can’t say enough for this resort, it’s beyond amazing. Rating it 10/10 is not enough. The staff is beyond responsive and professional, super clean, food is upscale, everyone is super helpful. The girls at kids club do an amazing job to take care for the kids allowing parents time to relax. Traveled for the second time at this resort and is simply amazing, can’t thank enough Paola Medina at the reception desk to make everything better and possible for my newborn too. Will be back for many mor years. My son’s birthday was amazing and the surprises organized but the staff were endless. Congratulations to all, you do an amazing job.

There are many things to like. Felt very safe and it’s a family friendly place. If you are a foodie, this isn’t the place for you. Great place to relax and just hang out at the pool.
