The hotel is large and well presented. The rooms themselves were medium sized and had a shared balcony area above the first floor, and as I have been to Eastbourne countless times at many hotels I would put this definitely in the upper ranks compared to all others. The man on reception was very friendly and funny. The only downside was that due to being immediately on the seafront, you have no choice but to listen to whatever is playing on the bandstand, which wasn’t great for my mother who wanted an early night.

Locked out of the hotel late at night, quite rowdy but it was a Saturday night

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, lovely room and balcony
4.0
Great team of staff ; always helpful and chatty what makes for good customer service , the manager is also hands-on and visible ,interacting with guests which is a good sign ; fantastic single room with sea view and looking straight down on the bandstand ( free concerts). Floor board creek like mad but is part of the hotels charm!; reminds me of childhood sea side holiday

Spacious clean room. Bathroom could do with updating. Good location on sea front by the bandstand. 5 mins to town and 10 mins to station. A drinks fridge in the room would be nice.

Good hotel for three star
Nice and relaxed.
Great location on the sea front

Like - cleanliness, location, very helpful maintenance man.
Dislike - Boiling hot room, no fan, only 1 plug which didn't work, ceiling leaked when it rained, shower holder broken & not much of a flow. Reception not helpful & ignored when I asked for a fan. Looked at me as if it was my fault!
Lovely maintenance man got us a fan & an extension lead as we had to unplug the tv which had no space to get another appliance in (kettle) & would have been on the floor!

Fantastic view to the sea front! Would recommend the balcony room, where you could enjoy the view with a drink. Very friendly staff and would stay again.

Our room faced the promenade and was just opposite the Bandshell. At 8 pm, the band began to play, and as they finished at 10 pm, we were thrilled by the fireworks visible from our room and our balcony.

This Hotel should be done up quickly. Our room/cupboard with a view of the rusty fire escape was outdated with a bathroom door out of the Ark, As for the breakfast, we payed £20 to make our own! make your own tea/coffee, toast, from a 2 slice 1930's toaster, form an ordely queue. No rolls/pastries/fresh fruit, just prunes and the hot food served out of a trolley/ban marie. Cheapest cereals as well. No parking, not even disabled. We left early.

The hotel is in a great location, right opposite the sea front.
The staff are friendly from the front desk team to the housekeepers- all very nice.
The sleep quality is very good; comfy beds, pillows and nice linen.
The hotel itself is very dated and in desperate need of an update. Threadbare chairs, dirty carpets and old skool decoration. I can forgive the decoration as it does have a charm, but replace the chairs that are so worn you don’t even want to sit on them.
It is quiet for saying the location, however the rooms do get hot and there’s no fan. This is especially difficult when they tell you not to open the window due to seagulls.
The shower is bad, more like a portable tap than a shower really.
It’s fine- but there does need to be investment to bring this hotel up to standard; not even former glory.

there was no air conditioning and the all floorboards squeaked in our room which was 204 and the room above which you could hear every movement

Friendly hotel great views of sea and also the Bandstand just across the road if you have a sea view room which is well worth it.
Would definitely recommend and stay again

Stayed for a couple of nights on the top floor. Whilst a little tired in areas, this didn't affect the comfort of the room. Excellent value especially when treated to wonderful sea views. Didn't eat at the hotel as it was a celebration visit so food not needed therefore can't comment. Our friends paid almost 10x more for the hotel up the road .... I bet they didn't sleep any better than us!

We really loved our room. Everything you could need and THE BEST sea view ever! I also wanted to say a massive thank you to Ruth on reception as I called in a panic after we had left as my husband had left his wallet in our room. She was amazing and so were the house keeping who found it AND all safe. Other staff members were lovely too who we met

The location is perfect from the beach 2-3 minutes walk. The hotel is a sea front hotel. The local centre is a few minutes away where you can find a lot of food shops. Theres alot of halal places to eat but there’s not much choice to choose from. We were quite upset. There was a horrible smell as you enter Cumberland hotel. The rooms are average but the bathroom is Really Run Down!! It really needs a complete revamp. The housekeeping service was extremely slow. Parking is good you can buy a £2 pass from the reception for 24 hours and Sundays are free to park.

We found bedbugs in our bed. We were relocated. On checking out another resident was complaining that he found human faeces under his bed in a room he’d been moved to also having found bedbugs in the first. I’ve stayed here before but am very unlikely to return.

It’s also in a great location and close to all you need !

There was a slight issue within the hotel which the staff dealt with promptly and professionally.
Apart from that it was a good stay.
