Picked this hotel because it was close to the train station

As soon we walked into the lobby it smelled like a dirty ashtray. Thanks God, we had prepaid and check in was expedite. The parking was across the street from the hotel and it was in a safe location. The room was comfortable and very clean and no cigarette smell. Breakfast was simple but good. The staff was friendly and helpful.

This property was well located, close to the train station and the historic center. When we arrived the street was very dark. The front desk person did not speak any English at all, and she could not find our reservation. I told her I had booked one room with one double bed and one twin bed. We got a room with two twin beds. After a very long day of travelling I had no energy to argue with someone who couldn’t understand anything I was saying. The Expedia page says hotel has an on-site restaurant. We head there for dinner because we are starving and although there are many many empty tables, we were told “we are full”. I look around at all the empty tables and say “ you aren’t full, there are all these empty tables”. Now the guy yells at me WE ARE FULL. Ooook I then see pizza boxes and I ask if I can get a pizza to take away, he say (very rudely) NO! We go back to the front desk person who can’t do anything or offer any suggestions. They should not claim to have an on-site restaurant if it’s not run by the hotel and if arriving guest can’t get a table. So we are exhausted and starving and the front desk person was useless. Next day on-site breakfast was fine. This morning I was woken up early by the maid in the hall. I had the AC going and I had earplugs in and she was crashing around and woke me. Ugh. Overall our stay was ok. Beds were incredibly hard. Decor needs an update. Staff needs improvement.

Hotel hasn’t seen investment for too long. There are new lifts and scaffolding to do the outside, but the inside needs a lot of work to get things up to date. The environment around the hotel feels somewhat unsafe. It’s a bit of a mess, just like most of Viterbo.
But the towels were good, employees were friendly and the breakfast was okay. And it was cheap.

Hotel is in the process of fixing and there was some scaffolding outside, but it’s very comfortable, clean and has good service.

Clean Hotel is about the best thing I can say. Disappointing in every other aspect. No coffee/ water/juice in room or anywhere in hotel on offer other than at breakfast, especially in 30 to 35 degree heat was a little ridiculous. Reception battled to understand English. Advertises has an in house restaurant and bar, restaraunt never opened once and when I asked where the bar was, was told no bar..Could not even order a sandwich or water Staff really do not go out of their way, felt very unwelcome. Would not stay again. Stayed 2 nights. Aircon in room didn’t work.

Balletti is a good place. First of all, it is perfectly located-just steps away from the Potra Fiorentina train station, 2 minutes walk from the historical center and very close to the bus station. So, Balletti gives you an easy access not only to Viterbo, but also to places like Tarquinia, Bolsena, Bagnoregio, Tuscania, villa Lante in Bagnaia etc. It is worth to mention, that in spite of the fact, that train station and highway were so close, I wasnt at all bothered by the noise from outside-maybe they have noise-reducing windows. The room itself, as well as the bathroom, was spacious and clean. In the past, there was a water leak from the ceiling and some minor traces of the leak are still visible, but the quality of my stay was not affected by that.Balletti serves you a buffet breakfast in the morning starting from 7 am and this buffet breakfast is very good. All in all, staying here was a pleasure.

The hotel is in a good location, few steps from Porta Fiorentina rail station. Overall in good conditions..there was some refurbishment going on, but nothing to complaint about, it means they care about the hotel' appearance.
They only thing I would suggest to improve their service, to separate the cheese from the cold cuts (ham/ salami) on the buffet table..as I'm vegetarian, I could not eat the cheese as it was in the same tray.
Very friendly and professional staff.

the air conditioning system was broken. it was hot outside yet cooler to open the window than remain in the sauna of my room. management was advised of the problem yet during my three day stay they could not fix it.
i have recently stayed at the best western viterbo. it is a far newer and better hotel where everything works.

The Balletti was a good value when booked through Hotels.com. The room was large and nicely maintained. The A/C did not cool as well as we would have liked. The breakfast was good and this was a good location for driving to the hill cities in Umbria. We had to book an additional night earlier in the week and did not receive as good a rate.

This is not an entirely fair review as we barely stayed in this hotel for a night, en route to southern italy. However, we picked this for exactly this reason - a motel type stay - but expected a bit better room, comfort, cleanliness etc. Was average across the board.

This is an ideally located Hotel near the train station and walking distance to the walls of the historic town. There is even a shopping mall in the newer section of the city. Hotel staff is excellant and very helpful to the inexperienced traveler. Would not hesitate to book this again if we are visiting.

the hotel was fine but hard to find and not on our new navigation system. but it fit our need, it would have been nice if someone could have helped us without luggage since the parking lot is abit far especially since they new we had such a hard time finding them.
