We absolutely enjoyed our stay in Bryn Melyn apartment. It's walking distance to the town centre (although it's a bit hilly.) The room is sparklingly clean, cozy and spacious, and has a stunning view. Barmouth is lovely town and has lots of pubs and restaurants. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for 3 nights, with my 2 brothers.
The apartment is great, fully equipped with amazing views of the landscape. David and Heather were on hand to welcome us, offering advice on what there is to do in the area, and the best local places to eat and drink. We found The Royal a good place for a beer, and to watch football.
It is a steep ascent to the property, and we got a taxi back after a night out in town. The less mobile, would definitely need transport to and from. But it does mean you wake up to stunning views of the sea, beaches and surrounding area. Our favourite meal of the weekend was The Bay View restaurant for Sunday Lunch, less than a 10 minute drive away.
Overall a fab weekend break, and would highly recommend.

My wife and I with another couple spent 2 nights at Bryn Melyn. We were all very impressed with the standard of service and the quality of the breakfast and (optional) evening meal. The rooms were nicely decorated with modern bathroom facilities, comfortable beds and wonderful views over the estuary. The cosy lounge with excellent choice of pre-dinner drinks, and the dining room overlooking the grade with it's host of birds were a delight. The proud owners, David and Heather deserve a lot of praise for the facilities and the friendly service which they provide.

Bryn Melyn is set up a steep and narrow hill, and manoeuvring a big car was tricky. But the view from the car park of the estuary was magnificent. We had a warm welcome and climbed up two floors to a room with an even better view. The simple room was fine, the common areas supplied maps and books and photographs of the truly beautiful region. Breakfast was well done, the usual basics and a good choice of cooked food made to order.
the owners take their duty of hospitality seriously and I'd have no hesitation about staying there again.

An excellent guest house situated on a hill overlooking the estuary. Welcoming hosts with lots of useful advice and local knowledge. We had a large, well-furnished, clean and comfortable bedroom with excellent views. A very enjoyable breakfast is provided based on local produce.
The guest house at the top of a steep hill - so be prepared for some exercise when you walk into town. It only provides breakfast so you have to go into Barmouth for other meals. I believe that packed lunches are available on request - but have no practical experience of this.
There are tea & coffee making facilities in the bedroom plus a good free wifi service.
Overall, very good value for the money.

Great hotel, The owners, David and Heather very friendly and helpful. Superb breakfast with gluten free and lactose free options. Lovely estuary view from bedroom window. Several bird feeding stations, loved the birdwatching from bedroom, lounge and dining room. Would like to have stayed longer Would definitely stay again

Warm welcome, hosts knowledge of the surrounding area belly busting breakfast if required , changing views of the estuary and hills and coast, the bird table with an endless supply of different bird. A supply of books games free to borrow if you suffer inclement weather The whole area is very beautiful and if you are on a bike the roads are superb

Nearly everything about this Guest House is great. The owners, David & Heather, were both very pleasant and helpful, the room was spacious the bathroom had all the usual toiletries and the view from the room was more than impressive.I enjoyed a personalised breakfast each morning which, except for an afternoon tea and biscuits, was enough for me until my evening meal.Like most old buildings, it is possible to hear people in other rooms but I have been to very few hotels that have been sound-proofed. I did not find it a problem over the four days I stayed.I certainly recommend Bryn Melyn.

Decided at the last minute to have a short driving holiday in wales with my best friend and found this place by chance. I am glad that we have stayed here. We were blessed by the glorious weather and the scenery from the window took our breaths away. Too bad we came in and had to leave in haste, should time permits I would spend a few days just walk or cycle around the neighbourhood, and admire the nature and the warm locals that make it memorable.

We spent 3 nights at this Guest House & the hosts David & Heather went out of their way to make us feel welcome. David went out of his way to assist us in choosing walks we could do on each day. David even provided maps which was extremely helpful.
Very good, freshly cooked breakfast was served up each morning. There was plenty of choice for breakfast too.
Our room had an Estuary view & this view was absolutely stunning. Yes, it was that good.
Sat in the small garden on 2 of the afternoons with a nice glass of wine (very relaxing). You can also watch the birds / squirrels eating from the several feeding stations in the garden.
One downside for some people would be the location of the guest house. It is situated on a steep road. So, if you can't handle walking up steep slopes you can always get a taxi or park in the town & drive back up.

Fantastic, can't thank David and Heather enough for a Great Valentine's stay. The Room was excellent and the added new Windows were great and the view spectacular and the Wine and flowers topped it off. The morning Breakfast was great and topped off with an excellent service throughout. Once again a BIG thank you.

Hotel is excellent and the proprietors, David in particular, were very helpful in advising on some very good local walks. As mentioned, the access and parking can be a bit tricky if youre not comfortable with driving in tight spaces, but not too daunting. Also, it is a bit of a climb from the town, but again, would not be a problem for most people.Overall the hotel was excellent; room, food, facilities, bar, service, and the location, so would definitely recommend it for anyone staying in the area.

Steep Hill to Barmouth for Food & Drink.
Slow Wi-Fi - quickly drops from 32 mbps to 2 (or less) mbps in room.
Nice Breakfast.
Breakfast only server between 8 and 9 am.
Slow water supply in Shower.
Barmouth looks tired and dirty, perhaps due to traffic pollution.

Heather and David run a superb B&B. Very nice couple who make you very welcome plus they have extensive knowledge of the area which helps to expand your itinerary and visit parts of the region otherwise missed.

The Hotel was very clean, the rooms and bathrooms were modern and spacious and the extra little bits were very thoughtful. The Welsh breakfasts were well presented and well cooked and most enjoyable. The views were amazing across the estuary and and watching the wild birds feed on a specially adapted bird area is lovely. If relaxing with an amazing view is your thing then the Bryn Melyn is for you. If you are visiting the town and don't want to drive the walk up and down the hill can be a bit daunting but getting a taxi is very easy. All in all David and Heather run a very efficient hotel.

We were made to feel very welcome with our dog, the full 'Welsh' breakfast was lovely and a little extra for the dog. The view was amazing but to get it you have to live up cardiac hill.. A bit of a haul up when you've had a beer or two but well worth it when you open the curtains in the morning

If you don't have a car, this place is a climb, but so worth the views. I really enjoyed sitting in their beautiful garden with a cold local ale and watching the birds visit the feeder and taking in sunset views. The traditional breakfast ( I passed on the baked beans because I was already full from toast, fruit and yogurt ) is wonderful and the hosts are delightful and friendly!
