When we arrived early we asked where we could go to wait for our room to be ready. We were told we could go to the pool area. I asked where it was. We went to go look for it, and upon finding it realized you need a key to get in. We were told “we would have to give you one.” We asked where the pool was why wouldn’t they have told us we needed a key. We were here for a Wedding, which the hotel was aware of as there was a dinner that night at the hotel. At the dinner, a drink was spilled on my husband where it soaked all of his clothes. When I asked the next day if they would clean his shirt, there was much hesitation and they said they would see what they can do as we were leaving the next day, but as it had to be dry cleaned, we decided to just forget it. But we felt it should’ve been offered to clean his clothes as everything he was wearing got so wet he had to change. Next, as the wedding had an early start time and we needed to be ready by noon, It should not have been too difficult to let the cleaning staff know to wait till 12 for the rooms of hotel guests preparing for a wedding. This is a nice property, but overall felt the expectations after reading reviews as well as description of the property were set high and were not met. Front desk staff was efficient but I would not say friendly. Breakfast is nice, varied. Property is clean and rooms are spacious but lack of attention to details was noted.

Ms. Frau Heirz at the front desk went above & beyond to be helpful. We enjoyed our stay

Lovely hotel nearby many sites in the black forest. I would highly recommend staying here. We also went to the restaurant located in the hotel and it was excellent.

Top class hotel with fantastic dining, spa facilities and impeccably clean and well designed funky and comfortable decor throughout the hotel. Classic cars also available to hire from the hotel as an added feature!
The breakfast was great including the make your own waffles, and the Michelin starred evening restaurant was superb, with tasty and unusual wine pairings.

Enjoyed our time and stay. Staff and facilities where top notch!

The staff of the Ritter are the friendliest, most efficient group of people I have ever encountered at a hotel. The breakfast selection was copious. The dinner menu was unique and intriguing. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The lounge chairs on the roof were perfect for some much needed relaxing.

Excellent service ... the staff was extremely attentive and responsive to issues or questions. Also had a fantastic breakfast spread that did not get old after a 3 day stay.

We had a lovely stay. Durbach is a rather small sleepy town with not a lot to do. There are several wineries in the area and the wine is excellent. It is well located to explore the greater Black Forest area and neighboring towns if you don't mind driving a little. The hotel it's self was very nice. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed, a nice quiet respite after a day of touring. The breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly and nice but at times I felt they were a little under staffed and service would lag in certain areas of the hotel. The spa and property amenities were nice but the whole place was like a labyrinth and I was constantly getting lost. The property boasts a Michelin Star rated restaurant which we did dine in one evening. I've had many fine dining experiences and this was not one of them. The wait staff was nice and well meaning but the food, presentation and attention to detail was not up to par. Maybe it was an off night? Overall nice stay but I wouldn't rush to come back.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. The road to Durbach winds through beautiful vineyards, a stunning drive. The hotel itself is very comfortable with secure underground parking, a nice swimming pool and hot tub, and an excellent traditional Bavarian restaurant. The staff are very friendly, and we were given a complimentary glass of fizz on the first night. The breakfast buffet was absolutely outstanding, one of the best we have ever had. If there is one criticism it is that the room we had was quite small, but otherwise a very good hotel.

If you plan to drive there, call in advance about parking. The spaces are shared between the hotel and the 2-3 restaurants they have. We ended up parking outside in a side road. Not the best of experience after driving several hours. Same goes for reserving a restaurant table - call in advance - we were there during a weekday and it was all fully booked. We didn't know it was high season for the area (October).
Room service offers very little choice, so we ended up driving to Offenburg to get something to eat.
The breakfast is EXCELLENT and the staff very friendly in any case.
There is a sauna area with pool and jacuzzi which is a really nice treat.
The room was modern and clean.
Wifi was just ok. (I was faster on cellular)

Lovely hotel, in a beautiful quiet village close to Offenburg. The hotel itself has lovely facilities and the village has lots of places to eat including a very friendly pub opposite.

This hotel consists of 4 or 5 buildings connected together with a series of glass covered walkways. It takes a while to figure out where the various spa facilities and restaurants are located, but it was always a pleasant adventure with a friendly staff to guide you along. Generally, the hallways and spa facilities are quite clean with complementary tea and fruit baskets in the spa areas. The restaurants and bar facilities are quite pricey considering there are several other places with excellent food and wine within 5 minutes from the hotel at less than half the prices of the hotel. The breakfast buffet is beyond excellent. After many trips to Europe, their spread of baked goodies; meats; juices, etc. are the best I've ever encountered.
