Amazing helpful staff. And the Hotel is situated in a perfect spot to discover Venice.
Breakfast was very good . So nothing to complain and highly recommended

Was a good location and big spacious room for Venice - but hotel needs a revamp and lick of paint! Walls dirty and grubby- (not charming dirty) with every historic mosquito squash visible. Bed not comfortable.

The staff were wonderful, the location ideal and room lovely. Pillows - not so comfy, but I probably could have asked for some a bit softer.

Small property on quite canal street. Location was great. Bed and pillows were rock hard. A/C didn’t work. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Porter carried bags up stairs and the hotel arranged our water taxi to airport.

What a wonderful hotel and great location. Breakfast was great (a lot of options, could do with some granola).
The staff is very friendly and competent. They carried the luggage, helped with inquiries and answered all questions to our satisfaction!
The rooms are finished with lovely Venetian furniture and style.
Thank you for a wonderful experience.

This is a boutique property. We were provided a slightly upgraded family room so it was spacious. Staff are friendly. It is short walk to the main attractions. If you are physically challenged and have trouble with steps may not be the place for you. Room was clean. Breakfast was alright. Staff was helpful.

The staff was extremely helpful, including restaurant recommendations. The best meal we had in Venice was a recommended restaurant. Also we left a Kindle reader in the room and they sent us an email right away sitting room off of the library was a perfect spot to take a break.

We stayed for only two nights. The accommodations were exactly as advertised. The location was excellent. The only negative was the lack of elevator, but the experience was worth a few flights of stairs. What really made the hotel great was the staff. They were incredible. I travel for work and am in hotels regularly. The staff at the Ca' Alvise was the best I have ever had the pleasure to work with. They could not have been more helpful.

I rarely leave reviews, but if I can prevent anyone from having our experience, it is worthwhile. Upon entering our room, it smelled like smoke, but this wasn't the biggest issue. The AC in the room doesn't turn on until you put your key in the slot by the doorway. However, even after doing this and waiting for hours, the room did not cool down and felt like a sweat lodge, much hotter than the outside temperature. They should mention that they do not have a working AC in their property description. The staff seemed unconcerned when we informed them the night before and the next morning. Consider staying somewhere else or even sleeping outside, especially in the summer months.

I would definitely stay here again. The beds could be a little softer but overall it’s a wonderful place

This property has the best location you can imagine; however, it has a lot of negative issues. For instance, the check in was not smooth, given the fact the property owner sent us directions about an hour before our arrival. Keep in mind, the checking time is until 1:00pm. After that, they charge you extra 20€. The worse of all was the lack of AC, although I booked this property because AC was listed. When we got there, I called the owner to request the AC to be turned on, it was off and locked, and she declined my request. She stated it was the law to keep the AC off and that we did not need it. She suggested to open the windows, however, there were mosquitoes. We were supposed to get a room with view to the courtyard, but the courtyard was a space where the restaurants downstairs keep their trash. You can just imagine the view and noises! The second night, the owner was in the property and told she was turning the AC on because the temperature reached the highest on that day. I am not sure if this was accurate, but what I know is that the temperature in both days we were there reached the same highest: about 27 Celsius. I did contact Expedia, so I don’t if they actually talked to the owner. Bottom line, if location is your number one priority, this is the place, and you don’t mind the heat and the lack of attention and rudeness.

Incredibly helpful and friendly staff who made our stay extremely enjoyable, thank you.

Did not realize that the lack of an elevator would be such a big deal but after walking for miles and being on the top floor was not something to look forward too. Stayed in room for breakfast and realized just a limited amount of items available, location was good for getting to St Marks, and not too bad getting to Realto bridge.

The property could use new carpeting and is a bit worn down, but the day staff is excellent and super helpful. The breakfast is honestly terrible. Italy is known for good food and great coffee. The coffee is instant- both in the rooms and at breakfast. The food is just very mediocre and needs an upgrade.

This is a quaint hotel for a true Venitian experience. It is not a Hilton hotel. The rooms are nice and decorated to take you back to the 18th century. Just be aware that, like most of Venice, there is no elevator. But they do have porters to move your luggage up and down the stairs. Very nice breakfast. A/C in the rooms, but it won't get real cold if you like sleeping in a meat locker. Bathrooms are good. Hotel staff is very friendly and eager to help. Some restaurants and shops right around the corner. It is next to a small canal.

Excellent location, close to main tourist attractions. Service standards by front desk staff were low, unfriendly staff generally. Staff serving at breakfast were lovely though. Room was clean. AC did not work but night auditor provided a portable unit that did the job.

During our recent stay in Venice, our experience was a bit of a mixed bag.
On the positive side, the breakfast offered was very good, providing a wide variety of delicious options to start the day.
However, we were disappointed with the initial room we were given. There was a horrible smell that made our stay quite unpleasant. We promptly reported the issue to the reception, hoping for a solution. Unfortunately, the reception staff could only offer us a bigger room as an alternative, but this upgrade came at an extra cost of 30 euros. We felt a bit cheated since we were forced to pay more just to escape the unpleasant odor.
Adding to our dismay, the person at the reception was not very helpful in resolving the situation, which left us feeling frustrated.
Despite these setbacks, we appreciated the efforts made by the hotel to accommodate our request for a different room, and the new room was satisfactory and odor-free.
In conclusion, our stay in Venice had some positives, such as great facilities and a delightful breakfast, but there are areas that need improvement, like better handling of guest complaints and ensuring that all rooms meet the expected standards.
Overall, our stay was decent, but we hope our feedback will be taken constructively to enhance the experience for future guests.

Spacious, comfortable, family room with king bed and two sofa beds decorated in old Venetian style. Bathroom nice and shower worked well. Difficult to get to when carrying luggage. Check-in was 20 minutes than 2pm as room was not ready even though we requested an early check-in at 1pm and was frustrating after carrying luggage all the way there. Room for holding luggage after check-out was not locked and did not feel secure.

This hotel calls itself a 4 star - it should be a 3. If I had paid 3 star prices, I would have been satisfied. But it is NOT a 4 star. The staff are lovely, but the hotel is dated & tired. The included breakfast was sub-standard (canned fruit instead of fresh, minimal selection), the lounge furniture is dusty and falling apart. You are paying for the location (which is excellent).

The property was conveniently located and a five minute walk to Saint Marks Square. The Hotel is located in a building that is over 100 years old, but has been through many renovations. The hotel staff is great and their personality gives the place vibrant feel and the decor gives the hotel unique charm that makes it a fun place to stay. Be aware the hotel has 3 floors and a ground floor with no elevator so ask for a low floor if you have accessibility issues.

Fantastic staff throughout, so helpful and friendly. The jacuzzi bath was a must- have after the 20K steps we did each day around beautiful Venice. Breakfast was only ok, undercooked bacon for our liking but we ended up having coffees and croissants by room service for no extra cost which was lovely. Would return!!
