The hotel was amazing. The location was great, the staff was friendly, they gave us an early check-in, the restaurant was wonderful (breakfast too), I would highly recommend you the Italian cuisine. The room was decent. The only bad point was that the building didn't have an elevator, do we had to carry the luggage 3 stories ourselves. Thanks.

Staff in general was excellent, except for the waiter that sent me off the terrace ‘because he was not ready’ at breakfast

Our family vacation to the Löwenbräu Köln Hotel during EURO 2024 was an experience we'll cherish forever. The hotel's location was incredibly convenient, nestled in the heart of the city's vibrant atmosphere and just a stone's throw away from the Rine river. Our room was not only clean and well-maintained but also boasted a stunning view of the river and the lively boardwalk below. Despite the excitement of the event and the presence of enthusiastic British supporters chanting into the night, our room remained a tranquil haven. The soundproofing was exceptional, ensuring that our nights were peaceful and our sleep undisturbed. This hotel truly offered the best of both worlds—a front-row seat to the festivities and a serene retreat when we needed it.

Location is great. Staffs are friendly. Tasty breakfast.

The Lowenbrau is right on the river and our room in particular had excellent river views from the top floor. I can't speak for the other rooms, but we were super happy with the 2 bedroom setup and amazing view. The facility itself is very "old school" and quirky with pictures hung everywhere, a dark, wooden restaurant (with lots of outdoor tables, too) and creaky stairs. There is no elevator so you must use the stairs to get up to the hotel rooms. The breakfast had a lot of choices with hot and cold dishes - eggs, meats, cheeses, yogurt, cereal, toast, etc. with OJ and coffee. We loved our stay and would recommend - assuming you get a nice river view from your room.

The food was excellent along with the service & friendly staff

A wonderful stay, very friendly, welcoming. Good breakfast selection that’s open from 730-11 so for both early and late risers!
Beautiful views of the River and central to the sites. Not noisy at all, as they have what seems like new double glazing and the city has a quiet after 1030 regulation.
I’d 100% go back!

Fantastic experience for solo traveller. Very affordable and with a brilliant breakfast included. Located in the beautiful old town by the river and with much of the city in walking distance, particularly the Döm area and the shopping centre. If I ever find myself lucky enough to return to Cologne, I'll be checking in here no doubt

Lovely place! Friendly staff, good food, good beer. Room was very small, but the bed was comfortable. Breakfast is pretty standard. Several kinds of slices meats, breads, spreads, and granola. Eggs, bacon, sausage. Nothing superbly fancy.
3.7
Great area the staff and the people were very kind and courteous!
3.7
Nice little hotel in great location! Noisy neighborhood as a downside. No elevator

The service was good and the breakfast great. The room was very small but sufficient

Wonderful view from the room, very spacious, and walking around the area was fantastic.

Staff were friendly especially in the restaurant. The hotel is very well placed. Considering its location the room was surprisingly calm since it was possible to shut the windows with the air conditioning, except for the weekend when there is really a lot of people out. The room was not large but well designed for practicality. One negative point is that I pointed out that there was no hot water one morning and the reply was "I was not informed about it" which I did not find particularly helpful and then no hot water the next morning.

Great hotel in a really good location. Single room was pretty small but more than adequate. Good breakfast and great German restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff. Can highly recommend.
3.7
Excellent location on the river front, great view and just a short walk to the old town, main train station and cathedral!
3.7
I stayed in a single room with a shower on the 4th floor. My main complaint is that I was above a pub called Papa Joe’s and this was very noisy until 1.30am in the morning. It was difficult to fall asleep, even with the windows closed!
Breakfast was good and reception staff were friendly.
3.7
A good place for someone who visit Cologne with riverside sightseeing

Overall an OK hotel for a short stay. The rooms are dated (dated carpeting) and you have to realize that you are in an old building (e.g. I found a woodworm in bed). Hotel is located in a busy area, so bring some earplugs if you wat to have some decent sleep. Breakfast was quite good!

Hotel on top of restaurant in busy town area

The check-in staff were nice. The room I rented was quite small with carpet that didn’t quite give me the feeling that the place was super clean, neither did the kind of dingy hall/stair area. I understand most choose the location for being next to the water and restaurants, but I didn’t get the opportunity to enjoy those features during my very short visit, so cannot comment on them. There is parking for €24/night about a 5 minute walk away next to the cathedral. Hot shower, comfortable enough bed. This place got the job done when it comes to basics.
One thing that made me very uncomfortable, though, was after I turned the deadbolt on my room, sat on the bed and started to do some quick work on my laptop, a man walked into my room. He didn’t speak English, and I could not understand what he was asking or saying. He had a key with a red tag on it (the doors are accessed by a key card). He shuffled away after moving some boxes that were in the hallway. I don’t know if he had been a longterm renter of the room before me, was perhaps a maintenance employee or what. Anyhow, I didn’t feel very confident in sleeping in the room as a solo traveling woman after that, but I figured out a way to jam the desk chair under the deadbolt so it couldn’t be turned by and external key. It could have been an innocent mistake, but I really could not grasp exactly what happened to confirm completely so it rubbed me the wrong way.

Rooms were in well used condition but clean, probably not uncommon for many of the smaller hotels in this area. Overall good experience with this hotel. Main selling point was location. This is the area you want to stay in if you want to explore Cologne. It is close to lots of eating and sightseeing. Excellent location and we enjoyed our experience!

I enjoyed my stay, the hotel is easy to reach on foot from Köln Hbf, and is situated by the river in the altstadt. My single room was tiny, with a micro wash basin, this didn't spoil my stay though. The staff were pleasant, and the breakfast was good. If i were to visit Köln again i would have no hesitation in using Hotel Löwenbrau.
3.7
Needed a little bit modernizing. No lift, i know it is an old building and it was good exercise climbing all the stairs to the forth floor. Only
would be good to know before booking.

Excellent staff and hitel , great stay

Lowernbrau hotel is an amazing quaint hotel my partner and i have had a wonderful stay . Our room was spacious clean and tidy with a woderful view of the rhine . Staff very friendly and helpful . Food was good also . Would definitely stay again

Location excellent for any plan in Koln. Ambience is over the top. The staff are so helpful and kind. The food is more than excellent, however, the breakfast could use a beefy up. The restaurant staff is the best in the industry! And the chef, well, can this guy cook or what! Only downside is the steps. Lots of stairs. If you are elderly or have walking issues, unfortunately this great hotel may not be for you.

Room was comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace was memorable.

This has to be one of the most adorable buildings in the cutest area or Cologne.
I thought it was a little weird that I had to use my key card and go across the hall to use the toilet/shower.... then back across to the bedroom for the sink, but it wasn't nearly as inconvenient as I thought and what else can you expect from these adorable older, tall thin, buildings.
The service downstairs at the bar was great. I was traveling alone and happy to have friendly conversation with the staff downstairs while I sat at the bar. Plus you get a discount on food and drinks if you go downstairs while staying at the hotel!

Wonderful location close to all the stops and transport. The rivers cruise companies are right in front of the hotel. We booked the river cruise and the two day hop on hop off. This is a great way to see the entire city. Prebook for guaranteed seating for your exact time. The hotel is not air conditioned but the evening rain helped cool things off; two nice fans were in the room. When I checked in I was told the price of breakfast and decided to pass on it. The day after check out I remembered that I did purchase the breakfast option. Wasted 30+ euro (booked several hotels on vacation should have checked this reservation). Anyway the staff was friendly and accommodating would definitely return here. Food was great at the restaurant but we were on a budget and opted for lesser priced shops.
3.7
Close to central station, good breakfast helpful staff. Area is full of restaurants so it's quite noisy outside. No elevator.
3.7
If you want to experience the energy of the city and get a taste of the weekend night life this definitely the place to stay.
The rooms are typical Europe I.e. small, but adequate and the hotel is old but serviceable.
It is super central and does not lack in the character department. It is located right on the river and is 200m from the Cologne Cathedral and HBF Station.
3.7
Friendly and welcoming staff on both the reception and the restaurant. My room was very small, as expected, but it was very clean and nice. I hope Ill make it back one day!
3.7
Very good staff, very good breakfast. Small bath, and the temperature of water changes by itself. But not so bad.
3.7
Not hugely impressive. The hotel was slightly smelly and the toilet was the closest to my bed that I have known - could basically reach out and touch it. Also lots of noise, e.g. when anyone else used toilets in nearby rooms. The bar downstairs was nice though, and location is good.
3.7
Great stuff enjoy your stay jocking loughing and more
3.7
The staff were super friendly and attentive. The room was spacious but it wasn’t very clean, we had dirty glasses. The bathroom was super tiny that when my wife 5’3 and I 5’8 got up from the toilet our knees hit the sink. The bathroom door was super hard to close and it wouldn’t glide on the carpet.
3.7
Great location on the river's side, terraces all around, close to train station, metro and parking place. The place is located over a restaurant and he's no elevator, so hand carrying your luggage is a must. Still, the hotel is a perfect pie a Terre for those on a wine and dine expedition!
3.7
I booked a single room and it was unbelievably tiny. The room itself was only 4.5 sqm and I wasn't even able to open my big suitcase on the floor. The bathroom had a tiny washbasin 20 x 20cm just enough to wash my fingertips. The bathroom had a strong chemical smell which got into my room all night also with the door closed and window opened. It's not possible to organize yourself in a room like this. The staff was very helpful - they carried my heavy suitcase all 4 floors up. No elevator!
