this room worked pretty well for me. the building is a huge building, and appears to be an old (1950s?) boarding house - if you have any interest in architecture you will like its characteristics. the room did not have its own en-suite, but the shared toilets and showers were ok. every other room started at double the cost!
the manager was Ron, and he was helpful.

Dirty, it was impossible to sleep in such a place, I lost my money because they said it was too late for a refund. the photos on the site do not reflect reality, highly not recommended

The common areas are dated (especially the main eating hall), the common carpets are dated and most things are a bit worn. It’s pretty basic.

The property is close to the train station. In common areas are dated, especially the dining area with it's brown veneer panels. The female toilets didn't have hand basins, you have to go into a large shower or wash them in your room using the small handbasin.
My room was next to a 'reading room' which has some foot traffic and my door opened onto this room which felt less private; especially as it also had a fire exit door.
The property manager was helpful.
The property has many stairs and rooms and corridors that have more steps that are larger than your average step height. The property can be accessed via a lane which is convenient to cut across to the main street etc.

Nice place; but the bunk beds were extremely loud which makes getting up in the middle of the night sound like a klaxon alarm. Just hope you dont need to drink some water or go to the toilet while on the top bunk :)

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere, but the room was really cold (we stayed there in July) and you could hear a lot from the corridor and neighbouring rooms.
The toilets and shower room was also quite cold and could use freshening up.

The room was filthy the tv didnt work and was told to go to common room an watch tv with other guests, the shower curtain was that mouldy it stuck to itself the shower itself was disgusting doesnt look like its been cleaned in a long time.

A very comfortable hostel in the Blue Mountians area (Katoomba). The staff are very hospitable. Facilities are real up to par. WIll stay here if I ever return to this area.

People would just walk in in the middle of the night, it seemed like there was no cut off for booking times or showing up.. however if I wanted accommodation I’d just rock up at any minute of the night..

Why would Wotif say that the rooms have private bathrooms if they don’t. It’s so annoying if the description of the room is wrong and I have to go on an expedition to find a toilet at 2am

We stayed here for a night. The Checkin process was a lil bit of a hassle, it was a lil tough to find the place too. The shared bathrooms were not very clean, it was super cold but we were provided heaters. Overall an okay stay but I would not go back.

Great location, rooms a bit different to advertised.

Clean, nice sunny room and good location

It is budget accommodation, so do not expect much but still good to stay for a night when all day in the Blue Mountains. Clean and quiet, though internet didn't work last weekend

Oldiesh but quiet, clean and close to the city. Grocery shops and restaurants walk within 5 minutes. I would definitely stay again.

It was cosy and comfortable.Nothing I didn’t like

Comfortable bed at a great price. The building has a lot of charm.

The overall property was okay! It really is nothing fancy, but it was a quiet and clean environment with staff leaving you to your own devices. I was not a large fan of the shared bathroom and showers, it was pretty inconvenient. The hotel staff were very kind and warm, with excellent customer service skills. Overall, if you are looking for a simple hotel and an inexpensive nights stay, this is the place for you.

lovely period property, great situation next to all the shops and restaurants, clean, comfy bed, lots of areas to relax, reading room. Gushing hot water and nice baths, would definitely stay again

Owner was very accommodating making arrangements for me to check in after midnight even though there was no one to be there in reception at that time. I did find it a little difficult to find the place in the dark as the building is not on street level but up a steep set of stairs. Really loved the vibe of the place. Not as noisy as some backpackers in Sydney I have been to. All round, excellent value for money. Will definitely be back.

Loved the old style place with the variety of cosy sitting rooms (TV room, quiet reading room, etc).
Very central location. Great value, especially for those on a budget!

I Was surprised to find people sleeping in common area like TV room and Reading room. Room is a little bit dusty. Common toilet was quite cold in winter without heater. The positive point is very nearby to restaurants, supermarkets and shopping.

It was close to the center of town. Room was clean. Basic facilities but not expecting anything special. The heater was on in the room upon check in, which was nice as it was a cold day.

Good value for money, get what you pay for. Good location, quiet, plenty of character

Basic accomodation with no frills. Simple check in and out process. Room was clean. Could do with a bigger heater in the rooms for those chilly Blue Mountains Winter nights. Nice views outside the room.

The Lodge is in an excellent location in Katoomba. Its old but is comfortable with several lounge areas and a kitchen and dining area. I was disappointed that my credit card was debited with fees attached before my arrival even tho the Hotels.com website said I would either pay on check in or check out. I was told this was normal practice but they would refund and allow me to pay another way. I chose not to do this as I have experienced problems with this in the past. In spite of this I would stay again.

The location was good, but the property seemed dirty and run down. Our room smelled when we got there so we had to open all the windows.

Do NOT book this accommodation. It seems like a nice and cheap place, but don’t do the same mistake as I did. I got bitten by bugs while sleeping there, which I got confirmed by the local pharmacy. I then tried to talk about this with the manager of the hostel, but he rejected to believe or help me, even though one of his colleague had taken pictures of the bites. Spend some extra dollars and make your stay in Katoomba more memorable by choosing another place.

extremely run down
very noisy rooms
needs a little TLC

Limited running hot water in room, showers and kitchen. Too cold to wash my hair

You want a bed for the night no frills this is the place

Basic room but bed was comfortable and accommodation was quite. Community kitchen needed some work but utensils etc supplied which allowed for a meal to be prepared. Shared Bath and toilet facilities clean. Served the purpose for a weekend away but I wouldn’t consider it to be the right spot for a romantic getaway.

Good location and good price

Budget accommodation in centre of Katoomba that is clean, comfortable with good wifi and self cooking facilities
3.0
Strength- very friendly staffs.
Weakness- dirty blankets with hairs.
Opportunity for improvement- there is a glass window on top of the room door through which staircase light seeps in. This can be covered with something to make the room dark enough for a good night of sleep.

Location is good, short walk to restaurants, banks etc. Toilet/shower outside of room is okay when you're paying this little, but lights on timers? Had to keep stepping out of shower to turn light back on - not the best experience. No food in the rooms. I guess I get no smelly food etc, but no food at all? Seems overly restrictive. Requiring Wifi users log on each time they wish to use Wifi using user/pass given by front desk (and each username/pass only valid for 24 hours) - but gives out front door code freely. We stayed for three nights but were only given 2 codes total. Seems a bit silly to me really.

Clean linen. Clean towels. Clean toilets and bathroom. Beautiful view. Old building but has character from a bygone era.
2.0
I really was just looking for the cheapest place to stay in Katoomba. The hard floors make the place noisy throughout the night so it is hard to get a good nights sleep. My room didn't have a blind and the only window was onto a shared balcony so there was no privacy. At this price point it is what it is although there are probably better options out there.
