The property in the experience was great however Hotels.com is a rip off. Iâve always gone to them to find the cheapest prices, but this hotel room was literally $100 cheaper if I was to book direct

We arrived at 2pm (making great time on a 6 hour car ride) and were not so welcomed by a Front Desk receptionist who made it seem like we were bothering her. Her first words were âCheck-in is not until 4pm.â She is in hospitality and never even smiled through the interaction. If our room wasnât ready, thatâs okâŚwe were just asking. Pros/Cons of the trip:
Pros:
- Ocean-view rooms have a wonderful view and patio
- Ocean-view rooms are spacious and come with robes and slippers
- Free charging for EVs
- Walking distance to the pier and restaurants
Cons:
- There was a cockroach in our room. It ran away before I could take a picture.
- Construction across the street started at 6am and the crew parked right outside our door, yelling, honking and clanking as they got to work
- The heater in the room is loud so getting a good nightâs sleep was tough between this and the construction
I spoke to someone about the construction and noise and she apologized, but didnât offer any compensation for disruption. She stated that the construction was in the confirmation email, which is true. I also got a followup text that said, âRest assured, we have no construction on our property.â The construction was 30 feet away and it might as well have been on property.
I would not stay here again and couldnât get out fast enough.

The bed was horrible. It was hard like a rock. The âpillowsâ werenât even bed pillows more of a decorative pillow. We didnât sleep well at all. You get charged an extra $35 if you want to check in early. Never in my life have I had to pay a fee for that.

Expensive, no pool, construction across the street. The good thing is that it is in walking distance to the boardwalk.

I will never stay here again. To be honest, this was a splurge for my family. Stay at the historic CasaBlanca, right on the boardwalk, the location couldn't be beat! Unfortunately my hotel experience was pretty awful... My partner, myself and 2 kids drove about 6 hours arriving at 5:30pm for check-in. At about 4pm. while on the road I received a text asking when I would be arriving as check-in begins at 4pm. I replied "5:30pm." and I was true to my text. When I arrived at the location, the front desk was closed with a sign that read "Be back at 6:15pm." Very inopportune time to take a break, especially for exhausted travelers. The desk person arrived at 6:30pm. to a line of weary travelers and with zero apologies... Our room was filthy, all our feet were black just from setting up before going to dinner. The location boasts volleyball rentals, yet every time I would stop by the front desk to rent, it was closed... Our car was broken into and ransacked the first night - I assume its well known that there is no actual staff at this location. The second night there was a full blown party above our room with bumping music and loud yelling, again, I can only assume, they knew there is no staff to enforce anything. Save your money and stay literally anywhere else.

I was a bit disappointed when I check in as I paid for full ocean view and the room I got was more of a rooftop view. The manage was happy to offer a full refund. I didnt want to waste my short time in Santa Cruz so kept the room, as they were otherwise fully booked that weekend.
They made it up to me in how well I was treated. Turns out, you might want to keep the windows closed because although the waves crashing on the beach are a lovely sound, the seals howling all night might keep you up.
I loved this place and how I was treated. It needs a bit of updateing but otherwise a lovely stay.

Love the view our room was right on the street facing the beach. The lady who checked us in was super sweet and inviting. They have little front porches where we had a couple beers at night and had a cup of coffee in the morning

They did not strictly enforce the quiet hours after 9pm. The common areas are not policed unless people are being unruly and excessively loud. Was surprised the attendant mentioned that I could handle the situation if i would like.

Very classy place
Free parking was a welcome surprise in these days of post-booking add ons
Dont like the design of the bathroom door but not a deal breaker

We paid $500 for 1 night, which is insane for a room - labeled as a "family room" but it was right next to the dog area and the cigarette section.
The bathroom was in the "kids" room so once they went to sleep we were not able to get in there since the door to the room isn't hung correctly and it makes a loud noise when opening.
I get the high price being close proximity to the beach but that high price should also include just basic things not being a problem - like the 17 year old they hired to paid who didn't prep anything and paint is all over the tile for example. Things look hastily "upgraded", think house flippers trying to make a quick buck. Seems they slapped a coat of paint on things and said voila, it's beautiful.
Homeless were sleeping on the property at night as well and it doesn't look they (or hardly anyone in SC) cleans the pavement, lots of stains from what is most likely human waste and such. Everything is priced like a luxury experience but you can see that it's just that way to extract as much money as possible while putting the very basic amount of maintenance into things again. Reoccurring problem in America but just sad to see regardless.

Perfect location with newer and remodeled rooms. Friendly staff and lovely common area with fire pit for the evenings.

The hotel was cute. That was about it. The staff that checked us in was anything but helpful. Nothing was welcoming about the property. All they had were Notes about the rules and how much they would charge you if you broke them. If youâre coming from out of the area and have a question about anything around the area, Google it. Thatâs the answer I got from the front desk. Too much money for no good reason unhelpful unpleasant staff. Will not return again

This was my second stay at the Casablanca. The location is perfect with the Boardwalk and the beach being just across the street. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and having a room with a private balcony overlooking the beach was amazing.
The staff are all super friendly and helpful.

We stayed on the Friday of Labor Day weekend. Itâs pet friendly and BEAUTIFUL!! We will be back!

The room was not clean. There was hair from previous guests on the bed and the floor throughout.
You pay that much for an ocean view with balcony, it should be your own balcony. You have a common balcony that nobody utilizes due to the awkwardness as well as the cleaning employees cart and full trash bags being there.
If all you care about is the closeness to the beach, then yes go for it. Itâs totally worth it for that. But if you want a nice clean room with an inviting atmosphere, I wouldnât recommend it.

Huge rooms, quiet at night ( except occasional sea lion greeting) and comfy balcony seating to watch and hear the waves at night. Everything you need except breakfast. Awesome staff, location and views.

When we arrived and we found out where our room was we decided to upgrade to a room with a balcony right above the street. Jada and Cody were very helpful getting us into a room. Only issue with unloading was that there are alot of steps between the parking lot and our room and we had a lot of stuff for the four of us and our dog and we were staying 2 days. We ended up moving the car to Main St and unloading and then moving the car back to the main parking lot. The room was large enough and having the balcony gave us room to move around and sit and we loved the view of the beach. Only negatives were the missing tile in the bathroom and that the lights stay on all night which made me think the sun was rising when it was actually 1am. I understand leaving the lights near the front door but we should be able to turn off the light on the balcony, or at least provide better curtains. The area could use a few more good restaurants. We have travelled to the area before and had always wanted to stay here and are glad we finally did.

Very nice property close to the beach. Staff was excellent and offered us a full ocean view room with a huge deck for $20 more. We loved it as did our big pup. Always have a great time at Ideal across the street and taking our pup to the beach is the absolute best. Want to come back soon to your amazing hotel. Thank you all so muchđ

First inform us, everyone at this hotel was kind and eager to help just not always having the means to help. The location is the best. Itâs in the middle of everything. Itâs still quiet enough to get rest. Itâs perfect. The room left everything to be desired. Iâm not sure our room had been clean as there were long hair in the shower and floor. There was no chair in the room and only one bedside lamp. Our coffee maker was broken, and there were no replacements. Mini fridge microwave were great, but no paper towels or such. This place is in a beautiful location, the views have the ability to calm the soul and spirit. I just wish they made a little bit more effort to make this a five star instead of a three-ish at best.

Construction next door

This is one of the best hotels we've stayed in without a doubt! What makes this amazing is that it's right in front of the boardwalk and the view is incredible. It's also lovely because you get a chance to wake up early (if you'd like) and check out some of the volleyball action going on while sipping on the coffee provided by the hotel. A special shout out to the staff, namely Ellen and Andres, for being welcoming, accommodating, and helping to make this vacation beautiful for the family.

The hotel is small, quiet & very close to wharf & Boardwalk. Could use more detail on the bathroom cleaning and our bed had no top sheet just the comforter which was an uncomfortable feeling.
2.0
This place is not worth $500 a night. The building is nice on the outside, but the inside feels like a cheap flip. The flooring in the bathroom was buckling, presumptively from water damage around the toilet and shower. Smelled musty⌠The pillows on the beds were square and felt cheap and uncomfortable. There was absolutely nothing hanging on the walls which made the small grey room with one small window feel stark. 2 stars because the linens were otherwise clean and the location is fantastic.

The construction next door really ruined our morning. We couldnât sleep and rest. However the staff was nice enough to offer us a late check out with no extra fee. The hotel is located at the best location. A couple of steps to the ocean. I loved it

I was very disappointed I got charged $2000.00 for three days. That is way too much for three days the view wasnât very good. I found out there was an event that weekend which I did not know about. Charging me $2000.00 is a total rip off. The hotel wasnât even that nice. I will never recommend the hotel to anyone.
