Excellent stay here. The seclusion in the forest is a major plus. Best mixed drinks I had during my whole stay in Belize, including on Ambergris Caye. Food was excellent and home cooked. When looking back on this trip, I'll remember our great time here. Was very relaxing and felt authentic. Pool was smaller but nice. Staff is small, and very courteous and attentive. Rooms and the restaurant was very clean.. also a small gift shop on site was nice. The bungalos were very neat with a nice fans and air conditioning. Choosing this lodge was the best decision I made on our trip.

Mariposa Jungle Lodge is such an incredible place! Its located near towns and San Ignacio, along with the Pine Reserve. It was a great location to explore the Cayo area from.
The staff were very kind, thoughtful, and helpful. Robelvi gave us great recommendations and helped us plan some really fun adventures to a butterfly sanctuary and local swimming spots and waterfalls.
The dining option was fantastic - excellent food and services. They made everything really special and the attention to detail was really great.
Super clean with everything we needed. The pool was a fun place to relax and we enjoyed the hiking trails and bird watching tower.
After being at the beach for several days, I wasn't sure what to think about making a change - but I'm so thankful we visited Cayo and stayed at Mariposa. It was the prefect combination of adventure and relaxing. My kids absolutely loved it!

Mariposa Jungle Lodge was a wonderful place to stay and base for adventuring in and around San Ignacio. Blue Morpho Lodge was perfect for our family of six. Two bedrooms, a small but very functional kitchen (two burner counter stove, toaster oven, toaster, mini fridge and basic dish ware), and patio. Easy to get in to San Ignacio, to bidet for day tripping in Guatamala, and easy ride to beautiful outdoor sites like Rio on Pools.

The property is an awesome setting in the jungle with nice hiking trails and pool. The staff was excellent and they went out of their way to help when my wife got injured off site. It is close to many sites of interest in the pine ridge area but not too far from town.

This was unexpectedly delightful. We loved the quiet oasis of the jungle and the beauty of the surrounding grounds. We felt well taken care of at the small eco-resort with friendly staff. Rooms were clean and had plenty of space, kids enjoyed the space, and meals were easy with their breakfast and dinner meal plan. We were sad to leave and hope to return!

Mariposa was perfect for our trip to Belize. The staff was terrific! Everyone was super friendly. While cell phone reception was spotty, the property does have very good Internet service. It was also nice that laundry service was provided at extra cost. The Mariposa Jungle Lodge is also ECO conscious.
We signed up for the breakfast and dinner plan (or you can order off a menu). Plenty of "home cooked" food and everyday something different. The bar offered beers, wines, and mixed drinks. Loved the "Belizian Tea".
We wanted to focus on the western side of the country and see the Maya archaeological sites. The Mariposa Jungle Lodge property was perfectly situated. While we were able to get around in a 2WD SUV, a 4WD is recommended when you get off of the main roads.

Beautiful location. Easy access to all the sites in the area. Staff were great. My family had some dietary restrictions, and the food was incredible. They really go out of their way to make your stay special.

What a wonderful stay!!! Our lodge (Iguana Lodge) was clean, roomy, and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful, including the walking path and bird observation tower. We spent the mornings on our deck bird-watching (parrots, toucans, macaws). The pool was small and refreshing. Drinks were delicious (we did not eat on site, but the food smelled great). Hospitality and customer service was outstanding.

This place was wonderful and would recommend it! We stayed for one night only, wish we had had more time there.
We were welcomed by a friendly face, with a refreshing drink waiting for us. Got a quick tour before showing us to our room. It was a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. One thing I was quite disappointed about, was that they did not have a play pen or crib available for my baby. So that meant a sleepless night for us (we are not used to having baby in the bed)
Also the pool was quite dirty (leaves and junk floating on top) so we did not use the pool as we had hoped.
Otherwise, everything was great!

Wow! I mean, wow!!!!I loved this place. The arrival drink and meet, the accommodating tours enroute to and fro, the onsite nature trails and bird watching tower, the untouched environment ( removed one tree to build), the pool, oh, and the delicious meals! We had fresh , local fruits, eggs, re fried black bean, jacks, pork, chicken, jicama salad, zucchini and potato soup, coconut tarts, quesadillas, carrot cake, need I say more?!We were always thrilled to see what was on the menu!Yes, make Mariposa a part of your stay and embrace the true nature of Belize

Had an excellent time at this resort, would certainly stay here again. The resort was nice and clean, however, what set this resort aside from the rest was the staff and their wonderful service. They made us feel welcomed and as if we are a part of the family. I would love to stay here again thanks to Nelle Marie and Freddy. Thank you for our wonderful stay.

Great jungle hideaway with hiking at the location. Helpful and friendly staff. Easy to arrange tours from the resort.

This review is mixed because there were aspects of this lodge that were amazing and aspects that were not desirable. Positive aspects: 1. The owner was very helpful in helping us with an itinerary and scheduling excursions--even those that took place after we left the lodge,2. The tour guides, Damien and Agusto, employed by the lodge were knowledgeable, helpful, and engaged3. The menus are flexible for those with dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegan, vegetarian) and most of the food was fantastic (see exceptions below).4. The lodge was private and peacefulNegative aspects:1. The roads to get to the lodge--although not the owners fault--are terrible and hard on the body2. Tours not booked through the lodge should be considered at your own risk because not as much care was put into our safety and well being for things we did not pay the lodge directly for3. Our menu was missing for one dinner and there were allergens that we had noted in our food. They seemed to have limited supplies and our replacement meal was essentially salsa on corn tortillas with a second iceberg salad. So if there are issues with the food, be aware that it may not be resolved to your satisfaction4. The packages are a bit misleading. You will have to pay for every item and lunch purchased that is not detailed in your package. The complimentary drinks are restricted and alcohol is a bit pricier than one might expect here5. You will have to ask for extra toilet paper and other amenities

The Mariposa is an oasis in the middle of the Mundo Maya. After several days wandering around the country we came to Cayo district and the Mariposa Jungle Lodge. Not knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised at how the resort is tucked, quite naturally, into the surrounding forest. The difference between this area and others in Belize is amazing. The facility is pristine. Our room was perfectly clean and well appointed with local art and even a hand-made bed coverlet. The open-screen area allows you to fully relax outside without the local creatures invading your space. Birds and butterfly were everywhere when we stayed. We instantly fell in love with the place. The Mariposa offers access to the largest Mayan archeological site in the region, Caracol. You can also plan an excursion into Guatemala to Tikal, which we did. Other sites accessible from Mariposa are Xunantunich and Cahal Pech. The Rio Frio cave and Rio On swimming are also very enjoyable excursions. The staff is very attentive to every need. And, while it is impossible to anticipate every guest’s every whim, they make great efforts to insure your comfort and that food preferences/allergies are planned for well in advance of your visit.
