Clean comfortable room. It had everything I needed. Brewery next door is a plus, with good food and a great selection of beers.

An amazing stay for the price and location. Staff were hospitable and welcoming! Have stayed here many times and will come back!

The place is really cute on the exterior and interior. They have an outdoor chess board you can play with, lights, a pool, a fire pit and Halloween decorations.
The issues: The problem was when we got there after check-in they were still cleaning the room so we left and came back twice until they finished. The room smelled great and all surfaces were wiped clean.
Also, there was mud/dirt, crumbs, and a pill underneath the bed and was discovered when our toddler dropped his toys and went to find them. I just wish they wouldâve cleaned the entire room because my rating wouldâve changed.

I much prefer a restored property to a modern one. This is my third stay at The Kern Lodge, and I will be back again.

It was old but adequate.

Very nice, friendly, let us check in early.

Very clean and great location. Rooms are dated and could increase the amenities.

i booked a room that was an exceptionally low price & when i got there that room was not available so they put me in a beautiful 2 bedroom suite that was 3x as much as what i paid at no extra cost so i am really grateful. I arrived kinda late but they were very polite, friendly and treated me very well i would def stay there again & again.

At check in we were told they double booked and that I shouldnât have had a room reserved. Michelle at the front desk found us a room, although my original booking was for an apartment. Room trash was full and there was a bar of used soap in the shower. Fire alarm was not hooked up and just placed on a shelf. We also talked with a local that said the motel is known for squatters. Do not book here!!!

Well, I did not get to stay at the property, but I can review what I seen and experienced at the property. When we got there, there was no one in the office. We called the hotel, from the lobby/entrance, and the phone rang and rang. No answer. Finally, someone in the back of the property was watering, so we approached and asked for assistance. He came to the office, could not help, went to a back house and got someone, she came and she advised that the hotel is fully booked and that Expedia, who we booked through should have never booked us as they are completely booked. They had 1 room with plumbing issues they could see if were repaired enough to give us, but it was not. Dealing with Expedia has been unsuccessful for a refund as this hotel staff will not answer the phone as to confirm that we were unable to stay there. So I am still dealing with trying to get a refund.
I can say that the pool was dirty, green murky water, and we had thought before we could not get our reservation that we were not going to use the pool, even though we planned it as it was super hot that weekend. The pictures do not reflect what we saw.
Parking is sparse to say the least...The worst is that the entire area we were going to visit, all of the lodgings were booked. We found 1 place that would only accommodate us for the night. So, if given the opportunity in the future, I would not stay at this hotel.

This not a Ritz Carlton and is exactly what youâd expect from a rustic lodge in a small town. It was clean, the front desk was helpful, and it is walking distance from everything. The beds squeak and I could hear the neighbors tossing as Iâm sure they could hear me. Wouldnât choose this for a couples vacation. I would stay solo again.

New towels, clean, cute little motel in a convenient spot. Would return.

This place had nobody in the office for me to check in. Non of their business numbers worked. After all the wait, they gave me a room that was occupied. Horrible check in experience!

I never received a key for my room had to leave the door un locked was told i would eventually receive a key and I never did. Rude landscaper told me to keep my dog off his grass even though its a pet friendly inn. My wife asked the staff to bring towels up to our room and they never did so she had to go pick them up at the front desk. Needless to say iwe wont stay here ever again

Nice little property and the people that work there are friendly, a/c was pumping and rooms are as advertised. Just a note...I had tried to contact the lodge for a couple of questions about check in, etc - called, texted and emailed for several days and never received a single reply. Once i was there everything was fine.

Really cute and quiet place to stay at. You have some restaurants right next to it walking distance form then and gas/grocery store.

The room was clean, which was the most important. We stayed for three nights and no one ever came to clean the room, refresh towels, or remove trash.
The grounds were acceptable, although there were cigarette butts everywhere.
If youâre looking for a quick stop over this place will do, but I donât think we would stay again.

Be forewarned: this place is a mess. When we arrived at 6:30ish (pm), there was no one at the desk. I rang the doorbell, texted the number on the note left on the deskâŚnothing. 20 min later there was a line of people wanting to check in. Finally a woman hurried around behind the desk. Said they were double booked but I had a room. However it wasnât ready (6:30 pm!) and it would be 45 min. We went to kill time at the brewery next door. A man said he had been waiting for his room for an hour and a half. When we came back, she was still trying to find people rooms, couldnât find keys, our room still wasnât ready. After a half an hour she said our room would be ready in 10 min. Itâs been 30 and we are still sitting out front waiting. Every other room in town is booked. What a mess.

Another great stay at The Kern Lodge. We stayed in the Eagles Landing room this time. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the mini kitchen met all our needs. Michele, the manager, was friendly and helpful as always!đ

This is a quite neighborhood. Parking available right next to the room we stayed in. The room was clean and spacious. The only problem was the wifi. Although we had the right password we were not able to log in other than for a few seconds. This seems to be an ongoing problem since I have read other reviews describing the same issue. No one stays in the front office so if you need help you are on your own.

With confirmed reservation we drove 200 miles to Kernville. At the front desk we were told to wait for the room to be clean and ready, and to come back at the check in time at 3 pm. To our shock, after having couple of drinks in town, we came back to hear that our room was sold out. They had "something else" for more than double the price, but even when I, out of desperation accepted it, I was told it's no longer available. I guess when there is annual event in town, the room goes to one who pays the most. No one cares that you are in the middle of nowhere with no bed to sleep since entire town was sold out due to event. Not quite shocked for the small bitten up motel policy, but am shocked that Hotels.com do the business with dishonest place like this.

It seems in the past it might used to the be good, looking at the infra.
We arrived and there was no one at the check in - it was closed. Thee was a nunber to be called, but no one answered.
Finally, I found an on-site worker who knew someone ( not the person at the sign ) that could help me. A very nice old lady who did hsr best but could barely find the key. Finally, having found the key, we went to the room. Besides the bed, that was nice, everything else was serioulsy dirty, I mean, DIRTY. And Im not the picky kind of person. I wikl give one example ( there were others ); inside the dishwasher, there were used dirty plates from someoelse. I rest my case.
Would never stay again and do NOT recommend.
By the way, we stayed thefe withiut even having checked in. When leaving, again thede was noone there and I just left the key there. It was already paid.

Wanted a stay in a charming rustic motel and this one fit the bill. Check in was easy. Had a bit of issues though. It is a clean motel but whatever they used on the floor left a sticky residue when you walked on it and when we wiped the floor with a towel it was dirty. The fridge door wouldn't close because the freezer was frozen over so had to prop a chair against the door to keep it closed. Lastly there was no hot water for the shower, just luke warm. Don't know if they turned the temperature down due to the time of year but not good when in the need for a warm shower. The ceiling is in its original papered state but given some of its condition it would probably be best for it to be painted for an overall refreshed look (not sure if they are trying to maintain the original look). Price was good for the unit at this time of year and the unit is quite large. Nice large heater unit that took us a bit to figure out.

I had to wait over 30 minutes before anyone showed up at the front desk. Thatâs after calling and texting property management.
Then there was no heating control in the room so that was another 30 minutes of waiting. Management sucks!

There wasn't anyone in the office when we arrived near 7:30PM. I tried the intercom next to the door and two separate numbers posted to call or text. I didn't get any answer from anyone of them. It was close to freezing outside. Finally, someone approached from behind me and opened the office. The room was nice, but there were bright lights shining in the only window near the vanity all night long. The heat was not on, and the room was very cold when we arrived. It took several minutes for the heat to turn on. There were very few customers at the location, and it would have been nice if the manager would have offered an upgrade for a larger room. We texted for extra blankets, and several were brought to us, but one appeared to have been dropped on the ground and it got dirt on the bedspread. Overall my satisfaction was mixed. The bed was a comfortable foam mattress.

This is my 4th time staying here, and we love it! Within walking distance to the brewery which is super convenient. Michele went above and beyond to make sure our room was perfect. Thank you, Michele!!
