Due for an update. Getting rather rough around the edges.

Great place!

The inn is quaint and comfortable. It has retained all of the original ambiance of the last century. Two things to be aware of: the noise level in the evenings is significant from the bar below the rooms; also, the bathrooms need some refreshed grout and paint. That said, we enjoyed our stay. The staff was wonderful and our room was quite comfortable.
4.3
As it was a bed and breakfast expected breakfast at the inn not a coupon for a cafe across the street. But the people were pleasant. It was a little noisy on Saturday night, but all and all a nice 2 night stay.
4.3
Choice property for proximity to Chesapeake Inn
Will definitely come back just for the ambiance!
4.3
Awesome and friendly staff. Drinks were amazing. The cafe across the street had really good food. The area is really nice to sit and chill. Overall such a cute area.
4.3
The owner of the property was so nice, accomodating and clearly loved his work. He was indicative of the wonderful small town. The room was cozy with a comfortable bed and delicious home baked cookies. I highly recommend!
4.3
We love the town and all it has to offer. Inn at the Canal is a gem.

There were issues with my reservation and Expedia couldn have been any worse at handling them. They managed to wrestle defeat from the jaws of victory. I was flooded with irrelevant computer generated emails claiming to be unable to contact the innkeeper. I called the Inn myself and had my issue resolved in less than 2 minutes. Very disappointing. Sure I get loyalty points from booking with Expedia, but the customer service I received on this one was unacceptable.
4.3
I liked that we could see the canal from our bedroom window. The lack of any personal contact with the owners was disappointing. No small refrig. in the common area. No self-serve coffee either. The best part was going across the street with our coupon and hanging out with the locals in the breakfast bar.

The town of Chesapeake City is a gem. The Inn is run by an engaging couple. They have added a destination Rum bar. He knows his spirits and has a fabulous collection he is generous to share. We had a before and after drink at the bar and enjoyed a atmosphere of fellowship

Was expecting home cooked breakfast being it’s a bed and breakfast. Third floor suite bedroom was cool but other rooms no AC units so it was hot. No bottled water or cream for coffee. Ants around. No tissues not paper towels for use in kitchen. Yes had coffee and few Splenda. Not enough amenities for four ppl. Overall ok. But not as this place was in the past.
4.3
Wonderful boutique hotel with lots of Charm and LOTS of AC when it is 90 degrees outside! Lovely little “touches” and appreciate the delish Chocolate chip cookies! Well done! And Historic!
4.3
The Inn is in a good location but is fairly old and the room was small. Could not get television to work - just too technically challenging for us. Do not expect many additional amenities.
4.3
We booked a room here for the sip and stroll event. It was a very convenient location. Staff were friendly and helpful.
4.3
Lovely quaint house and rooms situated close to shopping and restaurants but still had a quiet setting. The house and rooms had nice furnishings and all was very inviting and clean. There were homemade chocolate chip cookies in our room when we checked in. Enjoyed staying here and would do so again.
4.3
Will definitely be back. The customer service, because it’s a small business, is excellent.
4.3
Beautiful little town and the inn was right on the water. Rooms were cute and i enjoyed eating my breakfast and relaxing first thing in the morning on the back porch, that overlooks the water. Check in and breakfast was no-contact and very easy. Every one in this town was pleasant. Definitely will be staying here in the future.

Great place and location. Would go back any time.

Unique environment. Needed some repair. Loved the Happy Hour.

Friendly folks, good food.

Visiting Chesapeake City is always a treat. This is the first time we stayed with Ed and Sarah at the Inn at the Canal. What a wonderful experience! They were the perfect hosts - friendly, kind and welcoming. They prepared delicious meals every morning and the accommodations were very nice. We were sad to leave and will definitely return.

I feel bad that I can't provide a better rating, but my experience was limited to a late check-in after a NYE party and then leaving immediately after breakfast on New Year's Day. Our Snug Harbor room was very small, even by B&B standards. Bed was lumpy but comfortable enough for sleeping. There was no bottled water in our room, but we did find a stack of shot glass-sized paper cups that held almost a mouthful of sink water. Breakfast was ok, served buffet-style except that bacon and scrapple were rationed by the hovering and a bit too-chatty owner/operator. Coffee was hot and fresh but weak. Orange juice wasn't offered or available until we overheard chatty owner/operator mentioning mimosas to another couple. The best part of our stay were the delicious chocolate chip cookies that greeted us on our bed. I'm sad to say that I won't be staying here in the future.

I would highly recommend staying here.

The breakfast was delicious. We were lucky to get the last room available.
4.3
The Inn was clean and comfortable. Ed and Sarah were wonderful hosts, too!

It was wonderful. The inn keeper Sam was fantastic. Room was very comfortable clean and inviting ! I hope the new inn keepers are just as inviting.
4.3
Lovely place. The city was quiet.... lots of establishments still not open for the spring.
4.3
The Inn at the Canal was a lovely place for our stay en route to New York City! The room was adequate for 3 people but better suited for 2. We were just bringing our daughter on this trip and decided to expose her to a Bed and Breakfast and are glad we did! Bob was a wonderful host and first-rate chef!!. The breakfasts both mornings were incredible! They were each 2 courses and were absolutely delicious!
4.3
Very enjoyable find. The Inn had a lot of interesting info, pictures and antiques. The breakfasts were delicious! Did not even know that the canal existed and learning about it was very interesting. Very quiet town with a few restaurants and some shopping. Various seasonal activities. There are numerous other towns and activities in the surrounding area. Would recommend for a long weekend getaway.
4.3
Great setting and venue. The owners are well organized and the facility is first class. Lots of charm and good food. Will be back if in the neighborhood.
4.3
A quick get away. The location close to our home. The community very friendly.
