This is an excellent hotel in a beautiful location, staff were absolutely wonderful, room was clean large, private onsen was affordably priced and a lovely experience, would recommend this accommodation

The hotel room overall (the old side) is a bit traditional and old. The outdoor public onsen is quite small which only fit around 3 ppl. Free parking and breakfast is fine

The hotel is located in the Sengataki area which is one local line station away from the busy Kyu-karuizawa area and thanks to this, the surroundings of the hotel is very quiet and made us feel that we were staying in our summer house. Although the location is away from Kyukaruizawa area, there is a newly developed Hoshino resort area nearby and we were able to enjoy the sophisticated atmosphere as well.

Dormy Club Karuizawa is small but has much to offer. The hotel staff contacted us a week prior to arrival to arrange our pickup from Naka-Karuizawa station using their shuttle, which was very convenient as there is no way to walk to this hotel from the station as it is at least 2 km uphill. They continued to offer shuttle service to Naka-Karuizawa from the hotel with some hours advance notice. The receptionists greeted us warmly upon arrival while the porters held our bags during registration. Dormy Club offers a lounge with a TV, comfortable seats and a Jura bean-to-cup espresso machine. The walls are adorned with original artwork from a local artist, and there is a selection of locally made gift items and postcards for sale. The dining room is casual but very smart - breakfast served 9 am for all guests and dinner if reserved in advance. Breakfast service was flawless - formal but approachable, and the food delicious.
The room we had was their basic room - it was quite generously sized with two full-size beds, a three seat leather sofa, two chairs, and a ~30" TV beside a writing desk. There is a closet beside the door with ample space to hang clothes and stow suitcases. The bathroom is small but it has a Toto showerlet toilet and a traditional shower/tub.
There is both an indoor public bath area and an "open air" public bath that is open in the daytime.
My only complaint is that unfortunately the door and ceiling didn't keep out the noise of our upstairs neighbors.
