Overall it was okay, but the room was pretty beat up and the shower was horrible, barely any water.
4.0 / 10.0
no consideration by anyone working there for guests to sleep!
6.0 / 10.0
We are 2 friends in our mid/late 30s that stayed for one night.
PROS:
Close to great restaurant options.
Close to a huge modern supermarket with AC.
The pool is very chill, with loungers, immediately next to the beach.
Great view from the room of the sea.
The restaurant beneath looks good although we did not eat there.
Very chill area, sleepy beach town vibes.
CONS/TO CONSIDER:
Staff felt a little disinterested with answering our questions in general. Did not help us with booking a taxi in the morning, told to walk until we found one.
We were on the 3rd floor, no elevator all stairs for those with luggage of mobility issues to keep in mind.
Room floor made our socks dirty with sand and dirt.
Shower water pressure very low, bathroom window did not lock.
Door to the room felt very flimsy, as though the lock had been broken and repaired poorly with a screw in the wood, very wobbly and felt a bit insecure.
Loud noise from other guests.
Not a lot of privacy on the balconies.
The AC and ceiling fan were both very weak.
Towels and sheets were stained.
Pillows uncomfortable, could do with replacing.

My hotel room door opened to outside which was not clear in the description, it also DID NOT LOCK! When I asked the manager at the desk for a locking room as a woman traveling alone, they came and drilled into the door frame and adjusted a lock but with a quick wiggle of the door handle it would unlock again.
The door also had a one inch opening between the frame- not helping safety, noise, bugs, etc.
The bathroom was full of rust and mold. The towels we extremely old and stained. The bed was also rock hard.
I switched after one horrible night- they wouldnt adjust policy and give me a refund but I felt unsafe and moved anyway. - VERY DISAPPOINTING

Right on the ocean with a nice pool. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. Our only issue was water pressure, it was a bit low. The restaurant is outstanding and the town is very walkable. Also very convenient to the supermarket. We would definitely go back

The ocean view was nice. The people here are very nice and it’s a bit peaceful only thing I really didn’t like about. I didn’t have no wash towels to wash my body with I guess they don’t Provide them . I did have dry towels, but no wash towels. They got two for one drinks are great too. Monday through Sunday beautiful ocean view for the restaurant as well as your room. I wouldn’t drink the water. It does come out a little brown in the sink. But overall, I enjoy my stay.

It was better than I was expecting from the reviews. I would stay again, no problem. The staff were all really nice and accommodating. Everything was clean. The restaurant priced average and the good was good quality. The only thing I'll add is bring washcloths.

Repeat visitor to hotel. However, it seems like the food quality and service has declined. Used to have a nice lobby coffee bar in the morning, not a pot of coffee and powder creamer. Hotel allowed some construction work on the property until midnight making it impossible to sleep. For the relative price to other hotels it seems this one has slipped down the list. Used to be a real gem.

I thought the receptionist and I had difficulty communicating. Our language skills not the best. But, usually we got our points across.

Beautiful sea views and a great location, but there were a number of issues that would discourage a return visit. The pool, for example, was extremely murky looking the first couple of days and not at all inviting. There was also a banquet hall adjacent to the side of the hotel we were staying that can translate into very loud music played well past midnight. On the positive side, really lovely cleaning staff that kept our room looking pristine, and a great restaurant that serves excellent coffee and espresso.

Cozy corner spot, on the other side of the restaurant from the pool. Quiet throughout the day and night. 30 seconds to the ocean/beach. Nice cabanas and private spaces on the beach. Cold fridge back in the room. It was perfect!

The Hacienda Morelos has roomy family rooms and good showers. We had to change rooms as we had made two separate bookings over 2 nights. The security of the doors was questionable as they were in need of replacement as were the locks. Overall, the place could use updating. The safe was definitely used! The staff was very friendly and helpful. My husband had a good massage in-house. We didn't eat in the restaurant. There was strong persistent breeze blowing through the lobby and restaurant that was a bit much. The beach is covered in seaweed but the pool area was pleasant. Overall a good place to stay within walking distance of the main square and the street where the restaurants were located. The loud 80s bar across the street was a problem the first night in 2nd floor room. Earplugs are always a good thing to bring along.

It was the hotel staff and the great location that made our stay there so winderful.

Hacienda Morelos was the perfect spot for us to enjoy a quick stop in Puerto Morelos. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by friendly staff and a gorgeous view of the aqua blue Caribbean. The beach was only a few steps away and they have a lovely pool. We ate twice at the attached restaurant and I cannot stress enough how delicious it was! Staff at the restaurant were top notch. Our only regret is that we couldn’t have stayed longer!

Staff was kind and helpful. Watched over our luggage after checking out while we shopped for a few hours. Beds are VERY firm and you can hear karaoke from the 80s club across the street till the AM, but that didn’t really bother us. Money exchange location and supermarket were across the hotel which was very convenient. Overall a great experience and would come back again!!

Wonderful, small hotel on the beach. Staff was extremely accommodating. Loads of great restaurants steps away surrounding town plaza. The restaurant on the hotel property was definitely four star. As a bonus, the very well run on-site diving center actually got my wife to join me on a snorkelling session to the barrier reef. She is not usually comfortable in any water activity.
It was a fantastic getaway from the winter weather in New Hampshire

Beach was amazing

Property was great and right on the ocean, with a great bar and restaurant However, they need to do something regarding the bottom floor doors always slamming when you open the front door with the rear door open. It’s loud, annoying and can be scary. Also, don’t leave any food out or the ants will invade your room. NOTE: use the shower drain cap to keep the smell out of your room. The hotel cannot do anything about this, that’s why the cap is there. Just remember to remove it when you start the shower or it might flood your room. Overall, great place and location and would highly recommend

A very well located, clean but basic hotel.

We were on the 3rd foor, room 302, south side of reception. The bar across the street plays loud music (did I say loud, very loud music until at least 2 a.m. EVERY NIGHT) The maid was excellent at her job, but irratic timing. Receptionists were friendly and helpful but speak very little English. The air conditioner is positioned so that it blows cold air directly on one of the beds. Mattresses are hard, pillows are lumpy. Doors don't seal tight. The shower head is old and marginally puts out a decent spray.
We've stayed here several times. It was the phrase, "newly rennovated" that brouhht us back. As far as we can see that only means the air conditioner has been upgraded.
Finally I will say, the view of the ocean and sunrises was wonderful. The restaurant was excellent.

There is one reason to be here and LOTS to avoid. Crazy loud night club across the street till 3 am. Not kidding, it's insane. Deposits required for the ratty beach towels. Missed room service on some days. No fridge, closets or room phones, beds are really hard. Due to the crazy noise there is no point in upgrading anything. They will never get decent reviews. You can almost see the nightclub though the holes in the door. Oh, last night there was a wedding till 12 which was even LOUDER than the night-club. Only reason to come here and that's the location. Beautiful views and the restaurant was quite good.

The place was incredibly nice and the proprietors were even nicer. The place was clean, comfortable and very well decorated with bold colors. There were no real options for eating nearby, however, and we didn’t have a car. They offer full service, making breakfast and other meals that were extremely good and very inexpensive. We took that option and did not regret it. Because the ferry could not sail, we had to cancel the first night, and they were easy to communicate with. I highly recommend the place.

This hotel is ok. Great location and the staff was helpful and friendly. The room, however, felt old and needed some work. The toilet seat was the wrong size and was lose; the windows rattled with the wind; the shower head was faulty and the water was lukewarm.

Hotel has basics needed for a comfortable stay. Water must be obtained on the lobby. Staff are kind and helpful, and the hotel is kept clean. Beds were firm and comfortable. The views from beachfront are amazing and you can sleep with the windows open listening to the surf outside your door. Nice refinished pool with lounge chairs, loungers on the beach and beach towels are provided. We will return to this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay in Puerto Morelos very much. The hotel has a great restaurant and pool and view. It is an old building but clean. Our only issues was they could use a new shower head in the room. Otherwise great place and loved that it was across the street from the grocery store and close to everything.

The staff are amazing. The showers drop at best and have zero hot water. The music from the 80's bar across the street can be heard until 1 am or later every night.

This is a great place. I've stayed here on and off for over 10 years. The food and staff has never been better!
The staff was a great as always, with a very heavy hand from the bartender! The food has never been better! The kitchen is on top of their game and the price is super fair.
THis joint is a gem in Puerto Morelos for sure!

For the money this was a good deal, but after sleeping one night on these beds, it was not as good a deal as I thought.
The property is clean, and the views are great. The two complaints that we have is 1. with the beds, we both woke up in pain. If they would invest in some newer beds this would be a good deal. 2. My only other complaint would be that it was a very rainy day, and they were not bending on checking in early. In fact we were told first that for 390/or 490 pesos about $30.00 USD that we could, then she looked up our reservation, and because it was made from a third party, She said that NO YOU CAN NOT CHECK IN EARLY EVEN IF YOU PAID THE ADDITIONAL FEE. WOW

Stayed many times.
Bed Comfort varies by room. Rm 204 is interesting in that it has a huge double pane glass door between the bed and bath which make it quieter from the bar across the street.
Good walking beach and nice chairs. Oct is good since seaweed is gone, Fantastic grocery store across street. Though wish the rooms had a fridge or even a cooler to rent.
Hate toilet seats. The toilets have elongated bowls, yet the seats are for round. And the bad part is they are commercial with the gap in the middle/front. This means they are flexible and bend/slid and drop making it feel like you will fall in.

This hotel refused to accommodate me with a cancellation/postponement for an unavoidable delay due to political unrest in departure city (Panama). My booking company reached out to them and they refused. All other hotels on my trip were more than accommodating because of the extenuating circumstances.
