BEDS AND BATHS
Roadrunner Ridge comfortably accommodates up to six guests in two bedrooms and a den. The primary bedroom features a queen bed, a natural wood modern dresser, and full-length mirror and an ensuite bathroom with double sinks, and tub with shower. The second bedroom has a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom, and a great view of the light changing on the rocky cove. The den, the original homestead cabin on the property, does not have desert view, is exceedingly comfortable and has a queen-size bed, a full-length mirror and a skylight. All three rooms have closets with wood hangers and luggage racks. The primary and second bedrooms have blackout shades that significantly reduce the morning light, with some light filtering in around the edges. A crib and high chair are available only upon request.
KITCHEN AND DINING
With its stainless-steel appliances, ample counter space and well stocked cabinets, you can find everything your inner chef desires, including All-Clad cookware, a Vitamix blender, and Henkels knives. Both the kitchen and the dining room have sweeping desert views that capture your attention. Keep the chef company sitting on one of three bar stools by the kitchen, and enjoy dinner in the dining room, which features a stylish live-edge table that seats eight. This beautiful wood table inspires formal and elegant dinners as well as fun and playful family brunches.
LIVING SPACE
At the other end of the sunlit great room, relax on the comfortable and beautiful leather couch or soft leather chairs with a book and coffee in the morning, or start a puzzle on the live-edge coffee table. Maximize your fun with a record player and wide-ranging collection of vinyl LPs, stream a favorite on the large flat-screen smart TV with Yamaha soundbar, or, do it the old-fashioned way and browse the extensive collection of DVDs and Blu-ray movies. For best streaming results connect your laptop to the TV via the supplied HDMI cable. Spread out your yoga mat for a refreshing morning stretch on the cool, polished concrete floors and unwind in the natural, rustic modern design of this space.
OUTDOOR SPACES
The myriad of outdoor spaces provides all sorts of experiences to make your stay unforgettable. There is ample shade and seating in both the front and the back of the house. Eat your breakfast or lunch on the wooden table on the back patio and have dinner out front at the table for eight, while watching the sunset in romantic lantern light. You can have Happy Hour on the Loll designer chairs, which are also great for gazing up at the visible Milky Way during summer nights; you can comfortably grill on the high BTU gas barbecue under the covered half of the front porch; soak up the sun or shade in comfortable front porch Adirondack chairs while watching the roadrunners or quail wander back and forth; sunbathe on the out-of-view private patio east of the house down the rock-lined path; and gently swing while snuggling with a loved one in the two-person hammock. Even more, stargaze from the Jacuzzi hot tub, cool off in the freshly filled cowboy tub (our “pool” is a 6’ diameter un heated stock tank) on a hot day, and on cool nights, warm up by the glow from the natural rock and wire framed fire pit. There is a security camera located on the electrical post by the driveway, but it is oriented away from the house and towards the road.
LAUNDRY AND CLEANING NEEDS
A washer and dryer are provided as well as detergent, stain remover, drying rack, iron and ironing board, and basic cleaning products and a few paper products to start your stay. We also provide Turkish cotton spa towels for use by the cowboy pool and hot tub, which can be found above the washer and dryer.
Please provide names of all guests and confirm that you agree to all the House Rules (in the House Rules section), when booking your reservation, and also BE AWARE...
NO PARTIES
While our property is quite beautiful and inspiring, it is not a party house and is not set up for large groups. We only allow up to six registered guests. If you want a party house in the middle of nowhere, this is not the space for you.
WILDLIFE
Snakes and scorpions can be seen in the desert usually during the evening through morning time, May-October. We provide flashlights and recommend closed toed shoes after dark – long-time desert dwellers shake out their shoes (whether inside or outside) before putting them on.
ROAD CONDITIONS
The last mile and a half leading up to the house are on dirt roads. They are easy to negotiate in a sedan type car, but sportscars low to the ground may have some difficulty. Roads my have ruts, particularly after rain.
BUGS AND LIGHTS
The desert comes with plenty of bugs that are attracted to light, so it’s usually best to keep the doors closed at night, or use screens with inside lights off.
PETS
Due to severe pet allergies in our household, pets are not allowed. Failure to abide by this pet policy will result in a $400 security deposit charge.
SAFETY
Our Jacuzzi and cowboy pool (our “pool” is a 6’ diameter un heated stock tank) are at ground level and ungated. Covers should be kept on at all times when not in use and children should be watched outside at all times.
We are located at the end of the road in a private cove and thus only the bedrooms have window coverings.
EVENTS & COMMERCIAL PHOTOSHOOTS are not permitted without prior approval, applicable permit and additional fees.
RESERVATIONS STARTING ON SUNDAY require a 4 PM or later check-in
We look forward to having you stay at Roadrunner Ridge!

Wow!! We absolutely LOVED our stay at this gorgeous home! Everything was just as it looked in the pictures, and even better! The house was spotless, the beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of space for everyone. Annie was delightful and ensured the house had plenty of necessities including hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, laundry soap, etc. this seems like a small thing until you are flying across the country to a rental property and then it becomes a luxury! The property is amazing with Joshua trees, rolling hills, various cactus plants and stunning views! We loved spending time in the hot tub at night and stargazing! The location is about 20 minutes to Joshua Tree National Park, which offered great exploring! We also spent one day in Palm Springs and took the Tahquitz Canyon hike up to a beautiful waterfall! Highly recommend!! If you want to get away from it all and enjoy some quiet serenity this is the place!

This is a very spacious property inside and outside. The privacy and serene environment was what we all needed from our busy lives. It was very hot on the days we were there but the house was so comfortable and everything we needed was there and then some. Annie & her husband do a great job with the lifestyle amenities and everything is thought out for a comfortable stay. This is an outstanding VRBO. Well run and taken care of. We will be back.

My husband and I spent three nights at this lovely home in May, and we couldn't have asked for a better stay in Joshua Tree. Annie was amazing, the house was spotless, everything we needed was there, the bed was comfy, the decor was beautiful and the local wildlife was wonderful to see. I can't say enough good things. If you're looking for a place to stay in the Yucca Valley, look no further and book this before it's too late!

Wow. What a place!!!
First time staying out in the Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree area and couldn't be happier with the house that we found.
Beautifully appointed and designed top to bottom, inside and out.
Huge bedrooms with clean fresh and super comfortable beds. Super well stocked kitchen and everything you need for a relaxing time in the desert.
Bbq, HotTub, Hammock, Record Player, DVDS, Binoculars for wildlife and star gazing.
Communication with owner was friendly, easy and informative. Thank you for the coffe and the wine. Very nice touch. The Location is perfect...basically the last house in a small collection of homes in the area...lovely hikes right outside your door.......15 min drive to anything you need....supermarkets, bars, flea market, restaurants etc Our small group had the most relaxing time ever and I would not hesitate to stay here again......in fact I'm already thinking about when that will be. A+ rating all around.

Just. . . So incredible. I took my wife and our kids for a couple of nights, thinking we'd go to the desert and relax for a bit. We were blown away, to say the least. Annie's home (not a house, but a home) is everything you see in the pictures, but just 10 times better in person. If a building could personify a hug, then this is it. Amenities were absolutely top notch!
All that to say, you're surrounded by the most beautiful desert scenery, and the house itself almost melts away from existence. I think the highlight of it all was the gentle breeze with the crystal clear nighttime skies, completely filled with stars.
If Annie will have us, we will absolutely be back. Unforgettable.

We really enjoyed our stay! Annie was very accommodating and a great host, the views and surroundings of the place were breathtaking, we were fortunate enough to see the snow !

Annie's property invites sonorous experiences. The surrounding area is quiet, except for occasional wildlife allowing musical conversation and contemplation. I simply loved this home from the beautiful landscaped desert hills; the open minimalist rooms and long tables. I played Miles Davis and the Eagles on the turntable. Annie was a warm and thorough host. I am longing for another stay at stay.

This property is perfect. Isolated from the noise of the highway, but close enough to town; near some amazing hikes; wonderfully decorated and has everything you need in the kitchen. I've been coming to Joshua Tree for almost a decade and this house was by far one of the best I've stayed at. And, I can't remember the last time I saw so many stars!!! There were four of us over the weekend, but the property is definitely comfortable for a party of six.
Annie was an amazing host. Can't wait to return!

I spent 10 wonderful days at Roadrunner Ridge in November, 2022. The house (which was spotless upon arrival) has an open, user-friendly layout, with every possible amenity, especially in the kitchen. The views are amazing in every direction, including up (at night, when you can see the Milky Way). The grounds are beautiful, with fine specimens of pretty much the entire Mojave Desert microcosm (Joshua trees, palo verde, mesquite bushes, desert willows, and all sorts of cactuses, including some very nice chollas). In the dead of November I saw jackrabbits, quail, an intrepid hummingbird, and a roadrunner; I also heard some coyotes and a great horned owl. Outside there are over half a dozen little spots — tables, chairs, lounges, a fire pit, etc. — to gather and chill. The spa deserves a special mention both for being beautifully situated and for heating up in silence (which seems to be a rarity these days). Nearby (an easy walk from the house) is some excellent hiking on federal land that rivals the national park in its richness — except you don’t have to drive there, you don’t have to wait in line, and you’ll almost always have the trail entirely to yourself. And it’s free!
Sometimes it seems as if the “O” in VRBO can get overlooked: many properties are now actually rented out by agencies. With the host of Roadrunner Ridge, Annie, you’re dealing with a real person who takes great care of her own home. Annie was welcoming and super-responsive, especially when there was a power glitch one day. It was so reassuring to be dealing with a live human being who knows the house and the area inside and out.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The home, the grounds, the location: everything was perfect. I only wish that the roadrunner I saw on my first morning would have paid a visit every day…

What an incredible stay! I’ve often found myself showing up to an vacation rental and thinking… this doesn’t look like the pictures. We’ll this rental EXCEEDED the pictures. The finishing touches at the house were so thoughtful. From nice kitchenware (literally everything we could imagine needing was in there) to big comfy wool blankets to wrap ourselves in by the outdoor fire, Annie thought of everything. We loved sitting out by the big fire pit (those flames got big and let off some great heat in the cold night), spending time on the patio in the morning playing board games, hanging in the hammock during the day and looking at the desert landscapes, and soaking in the jacuzzi tub at night and watching the stars. The property was great with lots of little areas to explore. And the bedrooms were nice too! The two bedrooms had comfy beds with big comfortable bathrooms. The den did the job, not quite as comfy as the other two beds but definitely doable for someone who likes a firmer mattress!
Also the house is in a super convenient location. Close to vons and Walmart for any supplies or groceries you need and just a quick drive to Joshua Tree. Convenient but still so private!
Overall, can’t recommend this spot enough. My friends were raving about the stay. We’ll be back!
