Loved the location, but the owner has allowed a true palace to waste away. The exterior woodwork is rotting as are moldings around doors, window sills are rotting, many door locks are broken, a kitchen door had to be tied shut to keep it closed, the sliding pool door doesn’t slide, and the boardwalk is shaky (I suspect it’s rotting, too). We wondered if the walls were infested with mold? In short, the owner needs to put some serious money into the place - not just the bare minimum.

Beautiful house but so many problems. Had been damaged with hurricane and not repaired. Too many issues to address. I have made owners aware of these problems.

Great space with lovely features. Most of the renovation needs from previous posts were resolved or in the process of being resolved.
Location was awesome, pool was great, kitchen was very well stocked with cooking supplies!
On the other hand, this house still needs more restoration to be 5 star.
Rotting window sills, loose/broken tiles, weathered wooden walkway, many doors and windows were difficult or impossible to open/close. (Doors were being replaced while we were there!!)
The Vacasa team on site were very helpful and friendly!

Plenty of room for our large family

The pictures of this home are very deceptive. Before our trip I saw the negative reviews and followed up with Vacasa, citing specific issues. When I asked about the doors not working, I was told the sliding door to the pool was replaced. Not replaced and very difficult to use. A second beachside side door also inoperable. During a hard rain, we had water pouring in through the front door. Local staff dropped off more towels to soak this up. Door was not repaired. So our visit was spent will pots and towels on the landing, definitely a trip and slip hazard.
The house’s boardwalk is unsafe. At the top it sways when you step on it. At the beachside, we had it partially collapse. We called this in and someone came and took pictures. We spent the last day and a half picking our way carefully to the beach.
The shower heads we were told were fixed were not. The condition of the ceilings and walls from water damage were unacceptable for the cost of this home. Walls in dining area remain wet and this is near electrical outlets. Many maintenance issues need to be addressed.
Vacasa is a corporation and you will not get the vacation you are looking for, like when you rent locally. We’ve been coming to St George many years and this house is not what we are accustomed too.
The excuse we were given over and over was it is up to the owner to authorize repairs. Vacasa is the vacation manager for this home and allows this owner to put renters in unsafe conditions.
I was confident that if I called and was told all items were taken care of, then that would be true. It was not.

The view was awesome! Porpoises put on a great show each day! It met our needs for a large crowd! I would visit it again.

Location is excellent …. But the years of deferred maintenance made our stay stressful. Both refrigerators leaking all over the floor. Air conditioning required three calls to management (and was hot!). Roach infestation. Doors to the beach either would not open or did not have door handles. Carpet was filthy and large spill stains. Non-working shower heads, faucets. Showers on ground floor did not drain well. Broken and worn furniture. There’s a pool, but no room to enjoy the space around the pool. Find somewhere else with a different management company that’s not Vacasa.

Our extended family rented the Plantation Palace for A long weekend. We have a large family and we were looking forward to a space big enough to accommodate everyone. That is about the only positive thing I can say for this property. It was not clean upon arrival. There were dead roaches in almost every room of the house. There is No Cable. There is Wi-Fi, but none of the televisions are smart streaming tv’s. Football is a big deal to some members of our group and they were not pleased. Our air conditioner on the bottom west side of the house did not work. We had to call the maintenance people three days in a row. The house has peeling paint in almost every room. There’s very evident water damage in multiple rooms on the ceilings. The sheet rock could easily be repaired - but hasn’t. The ‘park style grill’ was completely rusted thru and pushed over on the ground - which was fine because the grass and weeds were so high you couldn’t get to it anyway. The walkways have a few new boards, but the brush from the ground has over grown a portion of the walkway making it very dangerous to walk with out tripping. My 87 year old mother in law (who is in great physical shape) tripped on the boardwalk because of the ridiculous overgrown vines. The front balcony door has a sign that says the lock is broken - do not open…. The actual issue is that the front balcony is infested with cicada insects. There is extreme rot and it is definitely unsafe. Unfortunately, I could go on and on….
If you’re looking for a house with space - this is it…. Just be aware that it is in need of a lot of maintenance.

Not impressed with VACASA. Took over from local resort company 9/2022. Received notice in October needed to make final payment. Called the old resort office number only now transferred to Oregon VASACA office. Ask to speak with the local office but they could not provide any contact information, neither address or phone #. All calls go through 800 number. Finally called and they could find old reservation number only the new VASACA one which I never got. Got all straighten out over a couple of days. The week before arrival we decided to heat pool thus again called 800 number. At first she could not confirm if it was possible. After a 15 minute wait she said yes they could for $$$$$ I agreed with the understanding it would be turned on Saturday morning prior to our arrival. On SUNDAY water temp was 49 degrees and heat pump off. I turned the heat pump on myself and it was mid morning Monday before it was useable. Talked with local representative about some kind of credit for days unusable. Never hear back from them ! She gave me their local number which turned out to be the Oregon 800 number which is not much help when your in Florida. We had small plumbing issues which required their maintenance man out. Confirmed the hot water facet, shower head and handle did not work. Left to get parts and or order new ones. Never seen or heard from him the rest of week. Stopped at office again no way to call locally, mid week to ask about garage pick up. I was told they pick up twice a week, Tuesday and Friday. We saw them once on Saturday was we were leaving. We looked at renting the house for the same time next year. The house price was relative the same however the total cost was up 2500 dollars. Looking at the detail VACASA includes a administrative fee which made up the difference. The house is outstanding, might be the best we have ever stayed in over the 30 years we have been coming to St George Island.

Our family of 12 found the property exactly right for our needs! The house was spacious and the layout perfect. Having direct beach access plus a pool was ideal for spending the day relaxing in the sand and then unwinding with a pool soak as we prepared our dinner. I recommend this island and this property for anyone looking to enjoy time with the family without the crowds and confusion of the typical Gulf Coast destinations.

We all loved the house, it is very spacious and was a lot of fun! Tons of different areas to hang out in. The pool was our hang out after hanging on the beach all day. We had perfect weather! The whole process was a breeze! I would recommend this property to anyone and everyone!

What an incredible house! We’ve been coming to SGI for 15 years and loved every visit. This was by far the best house we’ve stayed in. Great views of the gulf. An unbelievable pool. A couple of superb balconies. And space galore.
