Thanks Eileen for a lovely comfortable stay. An amazing historic property beautifully appointed and very clean. The food from downstairs was the icing on the cake. I'll be back.

We had a historical adventure in this 1837 house with period furniture, lots of space, generous provisions in the bathroom and breakfast lounge, and good heating to keep it cozy in winter. I even enjoyed some old books that I remembered from my childhood. One of the two oldest buildings in Maitland it's well worth booking a stay. We were even allowed to charge our electric car which was appreciated.

The Old Victoria is a beautiful building. It is a grand old dame. Apparently it is one of the oldest homes in Maitland. It is definitely not in its hay day but it there is a sense of comfort and homeliness to the place. It could do with a bit of a clean up in spots but was a comfortable place to stay for one night. Be aware that the train line is across the road from The Old Victoria. Train noise does not worry me but if it is an issue for you you may want to look elsewhere. In saying that we were in a back room so the noise was somewhat muffled. The breakfast is basic. Our room ( Poets Room) had a nice charm and theme without over doing it. I would definitely stay here again if passing through the area.

Beautiful antique Hotel

The Old Vic was a delightful change from homogeneous and boring accommodations. It was a little like staying at your grandmother’s place. Full of interesting antiques, a comfy bed with a snug classic quilt,
Our hostess Eileen was such fun, with lots of interesting conversation and quirky insights.
A lovely relaxed atmosphere with everything we needed.
If you like something a little different, enjoy the Old Vic.

Thoroughly enjoyed the quiet and being transported back in the early 1830’s with amazing interiors. Great condition, will definitely stay again.

Great property to stay at if you like a vintage appeal. Restaurant downstairs is a must do if you stay there. Rooms were lovely and definitely gave a Victorian vibe. I think the mattress for the bed should be changed as the springs appeared to be shot. Host (Eileen) was great, and provided a nice history of the property. While there is train noise evident if you open the windows, I took that as part of the building's charm.

Excellent and staff very accommodating. The only reason I can’t give all 5’s is because I didn’t get a chance to investigate the rest of the property and surrounding area.

A lovely old home with lots of character ie squeaky floor boards & staircase. Clean & tidy. Comfy bed. Shared bath.
The noise from the train overnight was not tolerable. Smelly bins from the restaurant downstairs were very unappealing. The old saying - too good to be true. Sorry

Lovely heritage house that has been maintained extremely well. Really felt like I was stepping back in time without compromising on cleanliness or comfort.

It was a 5 night stay during Christmas.
The property is old and gets scary at night.
There was no staff, the owner was available for limited things.
No towels in room, pick any from bathroom. No instructions on where to keep used utensils or towels.
Bins were not taken out throughout my stay.
Lots of cockroaches almost everywhere.
Continental breakfast is - Self prepared Toast, Tea, coffee, juice etc.
No aircon, the fan was pretty useless. I had to place it right on my face to get some air.
The price looks high if I compare it with actual hotels with shared bath and better services.
I am not booking this property again.

Easy to find using GPS. Easy to deal with owner. Good rundown on where things were, history etc.
Bad point was the cockroaches. Pulled pillow up and big cockie. In the kitchen area put jug and toaster on and masses of young cockies run out.
Good breakfast supplies.
Some may complain about trains my only thoughts are how silly we sell our energy so cheap to 3rd world countries then we are asked not to rum AC etc. parking was tight and only on the street. Club about 700m around the corner with 3 restaurants. No AC but windows open and fans in each room. Be good when the verandah is replaced and you could sit out in the fresh air. Even a bottle of wine and port I assume available for guests to use?

Heritage building with really unique interior.we liked it as it wasn't your" run of the mill" stay. All the rooms were very different full of interesting items and decorations. Having an excellent restaurant down stairs was an added bonus.
Eileen the host was welcoming and helpful.
Great value for money.

I only needed one nights accommodation, so it suited me. The train line was a bit noisy through the night, but overall everything was great.

If you like grand old 19th century houses, this is affordable and lovely.

The history of the building and all the antique furniture was beautiful. The bathroom and water pressure in shower was excellent. The 4 poster bed was gorgeous but not very comfortable. It was too soft. And the pull out sofa bed was very uncomfortable. I could feel all the metal framing. The breakfast options were adequate but they only had white bread which does not suit a gluten free or health conscious guest. The restaurant downstairs was superb.

It's age and quirkiness. I would stay there again.

Unique and heritage. No safe off street parking and too many stairs for those who have mobility issues. Grateful that they do allow pets. Better signage out front would help as I couldn't find a sign indicating it was the old victorian. Great restaurant on site.

I had to be in town for a big family wedding and decided to treat myself wiht a stay in the Alfred room. Eileen was great with check in, and showed me around and left me to my online meeting and to enjoy my stay. It's a lovely large room and I appreciated the little table and chairs by the window and the luxury of the big bathroom to myself to get ready. I ate at Dukes, and left for the wedding and it was a lovely stay.

Loved that this facility had the ambience of a stately home where we were welcome guests, and not just a slick hotel for a convenient quick stay.

will definitely come back

The host was friendly and accommodating. Everything else was disappointing. Continual noise from the coal trains, drunk falling over several times and waking us at 2am, dust and dirt on floors, dust in rooms, poor breakfast.

Friendly welcome on arrival. Charming old world 1837
hotel B&B in East Maitland about 5 minutes from town centre. Comfy bed in large room with with plenty of space. 5 rooms and two large shared bathrooms with copious supplies of towels and hair and body care products. Basic self serve breakfast in shared sitting room.
Not being a big fan of instant coffee, I would stay there again and take my own coffee plunger!

Fantastic if you’ve got dogs. We really enjoyed the sitting room too; it was very cosy. There is a steep staircase though up to the bedrooms. It tired the dogs out so that was a plus.
