About this villa rental
Summary:
Blake House represents one of the oldest colonial homes in Maryland, built by British settler, Charles Blake, of London, England, in 1691. The house is nestled within 12 acres of manicured gardens, boasting an abundance of indigenous and foreign flora, and surrounded by direct water access. But the most unique feature of this property is the Crown and Anchor Inn (circa. 1735), originally located in Southern Baltimore and moved to the estate in 1941.
The Space:
The estate boasts limitless amenities to ensure guests of all ages, sensibilities and sizes are entertained for days and days. Blake House offers an open plan living experience with expansive water views. Blake House has four ensuite bedrooms (one on the first floor). The grounds offer a 100ft pier with 10,000lb boat lift, outdoor corn hole and bocce ball courts, multiple outdoor dining areas, orchid potting shed, sauna house, fire-pits, lookouts, Kayaks, canoe, paddle board, and nature trails. The Crown and Anchor has a bar, seating, wood burning fireplace, billards table, foose ball, and mini dance floor. The Inn has two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a viewing platform on the second floor.
Be prepared to immerse yourself in the storybook of Blake House. You will not want to leave this magical place.
Don't forget to ask about our Elevated Experiences, including massage and Chef services!
Other Things to Note:
Whilst Blake House is a great place to host events, please be aware that there is a $100 per person, per day, fee when guests exceed 12.
Pet fees are $50 per pet, per night, with a cap of three pets at any one time. Please ensure pets are kept off furniture and beds. Pets are also not allowed to enter the pool as this seriously destabilizes the chemicals and damages the filter system. Violations of these rules will incur additional fees and/or penalties.
Please note that due to insurance and county guidelines a property specific rental agreement will have to be completed prior to your stay.
Interaction with Guests:
We are available 24/7 to answer all questions and address any concerns. We also offer assistance in making your stay extra special and exceeding guest’s expectations. If you can imagine it, we will do our best to make it happen!

We had such an amazing 5 nights at Blake House. Such a beautiful historic home and incredible setting sitting on a lovely bluff overlooking the Corsica River. We loved the beautiful pool- which was surrounded by the most colorful hydrangeas. We kayaked and saw many osprey, herons, and a bald eagle that fit our 4th of July get together! The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen gorgeous and well stocked - the fire pit on the bluff a perfect spot to enjoy the stars at night. We had a one mile walk in the morning to the cutest coffee shop in Centerville. Great way to start the day - or the house had drip coffee, a Keurig or a French press. The hosts were so easy to reach and incredibly helpful. We hope to come back soon!

We had a wonderful time at Blake House with our extended family. Lots of room for everyone and we all loved the property, pool and offerings. The elevated welcome package, yoga session (for 11 of us!) and Chef Erica and team dinner were such incredible experiences. It was a perfect vacation. Highly recommend!!

Everything about the property was as advertised and more. We had a range of children, parents and grandchildren, everyone agreed that we must return.
Home is comfortable, hosts are communicative and welcoming, the property is beautiful and peaceful. Pool and kayaking were great. Wonderful views for outdoor dining. A very special place.

We held a family celebration over a long weekend at the Blake House and there isn’t enough space to describe how amazing this property is. The owners are truly professionals who care about your visit and we can’t thank them enough for helping us pull off our event, and more importantly our four-day stay on the property, which kept all ages entertained from dawn to dusk everyday.

This property is the absolutely most incredible place! The location is spectacular, large wooded grounds on the Corisca River. The main house is just beautiful, a historic property with luxurious comforts. And the adjacent is charming and lovely, and a great place for additional guests to sleep.
We celebrated my mother's 80th birthday with guests from all over the world coming in- some stayed in other rentals but we all congregated during the day at Blake House.
A few highlights: The huge closed in front porch with windows looking out over the property to the river and a long table which easily fitted our large group, the swimming pool**** which was just beyond wonderful, the many games and activities available for all ages, and the beautiful large wooded grounds.
Matt and Gerry are very responsive and wonderful to work with. We could not have asked for a more spectacular place to stay. Thank you Matt and Gerry!

What a perfect setting for a long-awaited family reunion! The property is stunning, better that the photos. The main house is tastefully furnished, and oh so comfortable. The gourmet kitchen, always the heart of the home, easily accommodated all the cooks and eaters (one and the same for most of us!). The grounds were meticulously manicured, making for wonderful strolls through the forest, or just a peaceful view from a window. We all enjoyed the crystal waters of the pool, a favorite of our grandkids. We were sure to spend time in the Tavern, where we enjoyed evening cocktails. The owners were super hosts, quick to respond to our messages, and always accommodating. The entire property is so well maintained and CLEAN. We felt right at home from the minute we arrived. Thank you, Matt and Gerry, for providing a fabulous venue for our merry memory making week!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful Blake House. The house was impeccable and decorated beautifully, and the property was picturesque and wonderful for our 3 generation family to enjoy. We enjoyed the view from the firepit and the gorgeous dining room. Matt & Gerry were wonderful to work with, responsive, and very accommodating, they left no detail unturned. Thank you!

We loved our getaway to beautiful Blake House on the shore of the Corsica River! It was the perfect setting for a reunion and celebration with our dear friends. The home and grounds are gorgeous. We enjoyed the lovely pool and spent many hours in the Adirondack chairs surrounding the fire pit. Our only regret was not having more time to enjoy it all! Matt and Gerry were so welcoming, kind, and responsive to my many questions. We loved it and hope to be back! Thank you!

We stayed at this home for a weekend in September to celebrate my Dad’s 80th birthday. We enjoyed all of the amenities the property has to offer.
One guest even came by boat!
I highly recommend this property for a relaxing fun filled weekend.

The property was amazing in every respect for all 3 generations of our family. The house and the bar/inn were large and cozy at the same time, with nooks for everyone to get lost in. There was so much to do (and such a beautiful place to do nothing as well and just chill) whether go to the beautiful pool, lounge on the pool chairs, fish on the dock overlooking the river, read a book at the fire pit, or walk to explore the beautiful property. Every room was more beautifully appointed than the next, with attention to every detail. It was like having a luxury resort just for your own family -- sharing it with no one else. No detail for guests' enjoyment were overlooked. Everyone had both their own space and so much shared gathering space to enjoy together. The sounds, smells, feel and ambiance of Blake House and its property made this even more special a vacation. We could not believe that we were so close to home in DC; we felt like we were far away in New England or somewhere else remote which made it very convenient for all travelers. And Matt and Gerry were perfect hosts, who spared no attention to detail with Blake House and the guide they sent to us about the house, and everything we needed to know about what to do and where to go. We have been to many VRBO's with our family before and this was the very best we have ever been to. We are going to look up the other 4 properties that Matt and Gerry own/manage for our future family vacations (although we may just want to return to Blake House again). It truly was a serene and amazing vacation destination.

We traveled as two couples and two dogs. We had a wonderful stay. There was more than enough room for a much bigger group but we chose this property because of the amenities. The property was gorgeous, private, and very well manicured. We relaxed by the fire pit at night, enjoyed the pool during the day, enjoyed a rain day inside the house lounging on the comfy couches, explored the towns near the property, tried crabbing (caught fish in the traps instead of crabs!), and enjoyed meals inside and out.
The only cons during our stay was the sauna not working, the internet being a little slow because it was satellite (though, it helped us disconnect and relax), and the mosquitoes (it had just rained a lot prior to our visit).
Overall, this property is amazing. We will definitely be back. We are talking about making this an annual tradition. The house and property were better than the pictures. The hosts were also amazing and easily reachable. We can't wait to return and were so sad to leave.

Really impressed with the property and the location. Good amenities and the owners were very accommodating. We were a group of 10 adults and there was plenty of room. Also, no shortage of things to do right on the property. Nice pool and deck for hanging out. At night, the Crown & Anchor Inn was great for chilling/catching up and having a few drinks, while others played pool. We even used the outdoor fire pit two separate nights (great view at night). We brought a boat for some tubing and waterskiing on the river so the dock was also very convenient. The internet was somewhat spotty and it would have been nice to have cable tv (they provide roku), but those are minor nitpicks in the grand scheme of things. Like I said, there was plenty to do!

My extended family stayed at this beautiful property for our annual reunion. The property is huge and feels more like a stately home with multiple lawns and wooded areas. Although the property is only 5 minutes from the town, it feels like a secluded island once you arrive. The house has clearly been recently renovated and everything is super clean and new. The open plan layout was also an added plus. There is a ton of things to do, one of our favorites being bocce and corn hole tournaments!! The Crown and Anchor Inn was a great place to play games and dance without disturbing the more “restful” folks in our group who relaxed in the main house. Lazing by the pool and having fire pits at night overlooking the river were other great highlights for the entire group. Matt and Gerry were extremely responsive and clearly love hosting! We cannot wait to come back later in the year!
