Busy pub. Room was clean with a comfy King bed, good double shower and plenty of complimentary toiletries. There was tea, coffee and biscuits in the room and plenty of room to store our luggage. Only drawback was that there’s no parking on the premises. There’s street parking or pay and display. This is really misleading as the online description for this Pub states “parking available.” We queried this with staff at the premises and they were apologetic, stating that they had contacted Hotels.com about their description (“parking available “ - as it gives the impression that there’s parking available for guests on the premises) but that Hotels.com had refused to amend it. They went on to say that they had been challenged about this misleading information by numerous customers, and had made efforts change it, but that Hotels.com had refused to change the description. As such, we had to search for parking on a very busy Saturday evening; something we could have really done without.

Room was spacious and warm, staff were friendly and professional. Amazing shower with hot water. The food was great and most importantly super hot.
Only down side is the bed was not very comfortable and parking on the street. I had to make a few rounds on the one way system to get a space. You can only park for 30 minutes between 9am and 6pm and then free after 6pm.

Staff at check in was awesome. Accommodating and kind. However although wifi was an amenity, wifi NEVER worked during our two day stay and staff was unwilling to acknowledge the problem or offer a solution. That made use of cell phone as an international traveler an issue. Rooms were fine - just internet as part of the facility offering is behind my less than 5 star rating. It was a disappointment with the booking.

I came to stay as had some activities to do on the University, my room was very comfortable and had good rest each night.

On checking in we were told that "we open normal pub hours. If you return outside them ring the door bell and someone will let you in".
We returned at just after 10.30 to find the pub closed. Rang the bell numerous times, but got no response. My wife continued to try the door while I sought help - and possibly an emergency room for the night - from the pub just down the road. They got no response on the 'phone, but while they were thinking of other options my wife 'phoned to say someone had finally opened the door to the Rose & Crown. This some 10-15 minutes after our return.
When I got back the door opener muttered an apology and said "the doorbell must be broken". He asked for our room number and I anticipated a more fullsome apology or perhaps the offer of a free breakfast the next morning. However on checking out - when as on check-in, the reception was lukewarm at best - no mention was made of the incident.
Had it not been for this I probably wouldn't have posted a review at all, a fairly average stay with no highlights or (other) lowlights.

Nice room, comfy bed and very good breakfast. However, despite being on the top floor was woken at midnight by very loud disco downstairs which went on until 1am.

The staff was so friendly. The room was on a little run down and you could hear a lot from the street the hall and the bar downstairs but things quieted down around 10-11p.

Advertised as parking available, there isnt any and the staff know and dont care that its advertised as available. Had to park in a council car park with 4 hours max stay. If you have a car stay somewhere else.

Lovely welcome, the room was comfortable, deep lush carpet and a sumptuous bed. The shower was strong and hot, perfect.

Easy check in at bar. Booked last minute so expected twin room, but bless they had pushed singles together for us as were fully booked (thank you!) and the bed was really comfortable too.
Floor a little squeaky in places. bathroom really clean, decent shower. Could only hear a bit of noise from pub underneath, not enough to keep us awake.
Location good for us visiting family, would definitely stay again. Thanks Rose and Crown.

The hotel is generally good. Staff are friendly and really helpful. It's very close to the town centre which is very convenient for us.

The 2 days I spent there was just about perfect .
Only problem for me was no car parking to the pub .
The nearby car park you could pay for 2/3/4 hours the maximum being 4 hours .
Free parking over night until 8,00am .
So if you don’t need your car for example until 11,00am. You need to get to the car park meter at 8,00am to purchase a ticket .
Not the best situation if you fancy a lay in 😀

Nice pub and good room, however the room was cold when we arrived at about 3pm and when we enquired what time the heating came on we were told 5pm because they had been quiet, which is not acceptable in February. They did not seem keen to turn it on earlier but did so after some discussion. This is a shame as the rest of the stay was very good.

A pleasant stay. Staff very friendly. Very clean and spacious room. Bottled water and plenty of condiments in the room. Located Central but hard to find 24 hr parking Drove around in circles trying to find somewhere. Did ring the hotel and was told there was parking around the corner so would be good if there was recommended parking given.

The noise from the bar below was unacceptable. The loud level of music, and the fire door banging went on until 2:00am in the morning. I would highly advise not to book this hotel if you are a light sleeper. I did report this to the management but they didn’t seem bother about the complaint or feedback.

I booked the room (Room 7) last minute due to train delays preventing me from reaching my destination. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. What wasn't clear from the details is that the bathroom is separate and across the corridor. It was private, but this entailed using keys to lock the bedroom door, unlock the bathroom door and lock it from the inside as there was no bolt. When you need the bathroom at one in the morning this is a bit of a palaver!!
The reason I can't give a good rating is that, whilst the bed was comfortable and everything was clean, the noise from the air con / extractor or whatever is in the roof above the room was so bad that I barely slept. The hotel must be aware of this, so why not supply earplugs? I resorted to toilet roll stuffed into my ears but even this didn't drown out the racket. I even recorded it on my phone! Even in the most comfortable room, if you can't sleep then the room isn't fit for purpose. In the early hours I did wonder why I hadn't just slept on a bench in Carmarthen station!

Nice hotel, a bit too much noise from the bar, and the Hotel.com listing is missing a few details - for the room I was allocated the bathroom was across the corridor, this did not seem to be mentioned in the listing. Breakfast was extra, a while the listing did not mention it either way, it could have been more accurate to avoid confusion.

Booked into our room straight away. It was a lovely room and a massive shower. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was outstanding. The locals drinking in the bar were very friendly. We will definitely be going there again

The only problem was noisy crowds outside until 4am making it impossible to sleep. They were nothing to do with the property though.

Terrible stay without Wifi and no lift. I have knee problems and Iwas given 2nd floor. I asked for first floor upon arrival explained my medical conditions, they asked for extra £30. When i asked about wifi, they said its tempremental sometimes. Then please advertise like that.

The room/bedding etc. were very clean. No complaints about that. Check-in could have been a bit more professional. No actual car park but we managed to park a little walk away and then after dinner managed to move the car onto the road opposite the hotel.

I appreciated the room being cleaned daily but didn't understand why the half used complimentary shower gel was replaced when it could have been used the next day.

Have stayed at the hotel on two separate occasions for work, I would recommend this to anybody wishing to stay the the food is brilliant the room are nice, tidy and cleaned regularly a big 10/10
