Eher durchschnittliches Hostel in Tarifa

Organisiertes Hostel, mit vielen Berührungspunkten zu anderen Gästen und vielen Möglichkeiten zu arbeiten sowie zu entspannen. Die Lage ist an der Hauptstraße, dafür aber auch sehr zentral.

Die Küche hat spezielle Öffnungszeiten, ausserhalb dieser ist es nicht gestattet sie zu benutzen. Hat man in dieser Zeit Hunger muss man außerhalb essen gehen. Das finde ich für ein Hostel sehr streng und unpassend. Ebenso sortiert und bedient sich das Personal am Free Food was für Reisende gedacht ist und schmeißt geöffnete Sachen weg, obwohl man diese noch konsumieren könnte... Thema Nachhaltigkeit wäre hier super. Die Lage ist an der Hauptstraße, was sehr laut wird, wenn man mit offenem Fenster schläft, was man für Luft in der Nacht aber muss. Die Betten quietschen sehr laut, wenn man sich ein wenig bewegt und die Matratzen sind durchgelegen. Die Badezimmer werden jeden Tag gereinigt, sind aber trotzdem häufig sehr dreckig. Wenn man nach dem Check Out noch die Räumlichkeiten (Küche, Bad, etc.) des Hostels nutzen möchte, muss man einen Aufpreis zahlen. So etwas kenne ich von keinem anderen Hostel weltweit.

Your Tarifa kitehouse ❤️

The location, the facilities, the wonderful staff, the other guests, the hostel is very clean, the dorms are airy and nice, the beds have curtains and outlets, and huge drawers to keep all your stuff. Big rooftop to do yoga, maybe one day will be with a lot of beanbags and furniture. Small garden which is amazing to pump your kite to dry if you had a long swim with the kite the day before. Super close to the old town good restaurants and bars. Picture is from Café Bonjour (200m from hostel) I love it. try the charcoal latte (vegan) and the many bowls or toasts

I got used to the kitchen opening hours and actually appreciated that people couldn't fry bacon and eggs all day next to everybody sitting and working on computers. The internet is ok but not strong enough for teams meetings if many people are on

can’t want to stay here again

10/10 stay. Very comfortable well-sized beds, great common areas, big convenient lockers, great crowd of people, good kitchen, good staff. Really fun to meet and collaborate with so many other kiteboarders. The dining room is well set up with tables and chargers if you have to work a bit. The owner also connected me with his friend to repair my kite in under 24 hours. I stayed at the other top rated hostel in Tarifa too and Tarifa Kite Hostel was way better.

Spacious and light common areas, nice garden to chill outside, cosy rooms. Had a great time time!

Great location, kind and positive staff, huge and well equipped kitchen, great garden to chill and eat outside, comfortable living room with sofas and long dining/working table. I stayed in a mixed dorm. Bunk bed had a curtains all over to keep privacy, shelf for few necessities and plug-in to charge whatever I need. I appreciated the large bathroom. Even thought it's shared with another room, I rarely had to wait to have a shower. The hostel seemed busy, but I had a great sleep :). I really enjoyed my stay 💕. Thank you!

Great Stay Time and Vibe

The staff was amazing, always helping, flexible, accomodating and kind. Great location ( few minutes walking distance from the historic center / shops/ main road ) Proper summer holidays vibes in this hostel. Our room was clean and spacious. We were so happy to find this hostel on this really busy period of the year. I truly recommended :)

The atmosphere was very good, mainly focussed on kiting. Lots of activities planned with the hostel. The hostel is really clean and was constently being maintained.

Good value for the money

The position, the atmosphere and the kitesurfing specific facilities (storage room, fresh water pool to wash the gear)

The fact that they ask you to pay cash the additional nights and the extras (hey, i don't know if you've ever heard of cashout fees, if not go do your homework and please at least make a discount if you only accept that as mean of payment!)

Good hostel if you avoid their paid activities and the owner

Everything was very clean and the kitchen was very spacious. The beds had curtains and most had electrical plugs. The common rooms were very active and it was quite easy to socialize because it had a chill atmosphere. Apart from the owner, the staff handled everything professionally and even tried to defuse situations caused by the owner.

The owner was unprofessional. I experienced how he was very aggressive to two different guests and nearly brought them to tears over trivial things. I've heard from other guests that the owner was not directly involved with the hostels business before, which might explain the earlier positive reviews. They are also very strict with unlabelled food. Instead of putting it into a free section, they throw everything into the trash. It didn't happen for me, but it was still very sad to see so much good food simply discarded. If you stay away from any paid activities the hostel offers and pay everything upfront through booking.com, you'll probably still have a good stay there. Just don't expect any goodwill if something goes wrong.

Loved the hostel! It is a great place to meet people. The staff is also amazing and will do everything to make your stay the best. The beds were brand new and slept great. There is a curtain to make sure you have some privacy. Had a great stay and will definitely return!!

The location, the people staying there, the staff, the kite facilities

That I could not have a bottle of redwine to use for cooking and drinking with my food bec they have "a bar" with beers for 2,5euro pr bottle. So its not that you are not allowed to drink, only not allowed to drink your own alcohol. Sorry Fernando, but this made no sense. also I really missed a bedlamp by the bed and an outlet for my charger. Besides that I liked my stay a lot.

Friendly and Clean

(1 The owner and staff are very welcoming and friendly. 2) The lady who cleans the place, keep´s everywhere very clean , she even made me a cup of coffee the first morning I got up to make some breakfast , which was very kind of her.. 3) The beds are comfortable , and you have good large security locker´s under the bed´s 4) There are plenty of restaurants and bar´s in the area , and you are not far form the beach., it´s a beautiful town.

Had a great time there and met a lot of amazing people at the Hostel who made my stay in Tarifa totally worth while. Staff also super friendly. Would definitely stay there again if I were to return to Tarifa. Recommended

Good but no time limits for noise

the garden, the common areas and the location

There is no ventilation in the room other than a French balcony door, so if you want to sleep it's impossible because there is no time limit for parties or people chatting in the garden, if you don't make rules people will just do what they want. One day was more than 2am and people were talking so loud that you could not spleep. The bedroom door has the “automatic” closing on top which is the worst thing there is because the city has a lot of wind so every time someone opens the door, it automatically “knocks” and makes a lot of noise. Bathrooms are not that clean and are few for so many people. If someone is taking a shower and you need to pee... wait for at least half an hour to get it. the shower water is very weak and after 10 minutes it seems that the water runs out and you spend more than half an hour in the shower because there is not enough water to go faster The mattress is not a mattress but a super uncomfortable sponge and the cleaning staff was not so polite. And my sheets were dirty with a black spott on it. The fridge is a mess and from what I've seen it was never clean or tidy, suuper full and there was food lost inside and people didn't care about their stuff. They ruined my thermos bottle.

I like the idea of having a hostal bar, but the prices should be cheap. You have to pay more than at normal bars outside (for example beer 0.33l costs 2,5€). Additionaly its absolutly not allowed to bring your own alcohol to the hostel. Thats very strict, i mean it was my home during this time and its hard if you have to pay for drinks at your home... At all they are very strict with their rules, there is also a timetable for using the kitchen.

Facilities are great for socialising while eating or having predrinks Everyone was very sociable and groups were formed very easily. Staff was top top! I would definitely be back - highly recommended

The people and the atmosphere were great. The facilities were kept nice and clean.

The dorms' doors had to be left open for proper air circulation (very necessary because of Covid-19), which meant there were quite a few noises throughout the night. In addition, the kitchen cooking times could be a bit more generous.

Horrible stay. Not what we expected from the previous reviews !!!

Horrible stay. Not what we expected from the previous reviews !!! Still shocked by the owner behavior, who decided to kick us out for false pretexts and refused to give us our money back ! First, They changed our booking 2 weeks before our arrival, saying they regrouped my friends and I in the same room, but we never asked for it. The room we finally got, was for 8 people instead of 6, and was directly on the streets. But to convince us we had a better room, he proceeded to tell us the 6 persons dorm was the worst room in the hotel....and this in front of other customers. The beds we got were in front of the door and in the middle of the room, which means the person sleeping on the upper bed, had no barrier either sides and could easily fall. Dangerous. The owner decided our demands to change or keep our beds, after 2 nights (which he first said we could), were not to his taste and decided to kick us out from the hostel, in the middle of high season. And after saying he will reimbursed us the nights left of our booking, he changed his mind and told us that spanish law allowed him to kick people out and keep the money .. ??! Which is totally false. He made a total scandal and mess in front of other guests, which we did not understand. We were on the phone with booking customer service trying to resolve this solution for more than 1h, and the owner never answered them precisely. We are still waiting for the reimbursement. 😬😬 So thanks for ruining our holidays. I have never been treated like this by an hotel, hostel or b&b before. The owner tried to manipulate us, and to get my friends and I against each other... He was agressive from the beginning but tried to accuse us of being so... when, we never raised our voices. He was mocking us and changing his story whenever he felt like it. He apparently wrote/prepared an email to booking from the first moments, after watching our disappointment with our beds, in order to erase our potential bad review.
