Building itself is old and rather quirky. Room was small but very clean and adequate for stay. Food both in evening and breakfast was exceptional and there is a good choice of beers.
Staff all very accommodating - my only gripe would be that listing should include directions to car park - hotel is on a one way system and the postcode takes you to front whereas car park is at rear. Bit of a mare, particularly arriving during rush hour.

It was amazing
They need a lift. I have a slipped disc so my wife had to carry the case on her own. Apart from that amazing.
4.3
Very helpful staff. Lovely clean room, convenient on-site car park and lovely breakfast.

Hotel was good but service a bit slow at breakfast but improved today

smelly (105) 1st room, in the corridor smelt of cabbage, areas in the hotel smelt the same, room smelt of smoke, i’m a non smoker, asked to be moved and was told fully booked nothing they could do, my husband arrived later in the evening and complained about the smell and was told we would be moved the next day, clearly being a male has clout!
moved to second room (108) lovely room however from around 8/9’theres a horrendous noise that could keep you awake if your a light sleeper, i had ear plugs and could still hear it, but managed some
sleep. Beds comfy, showers powerful, breakfast depended who served you depends on level of service and food you got, drinks expensive in the bar, the food however was gorgeous, go to
wetherspoons just over the road if you want a good drink

I've stayed here many times as I have a quarterly meeting with a client in the next town. Great hotel, lovely big room, evening meal was excellent. Next day breakfast is by order, and again great. Highly recommend and will be staying again in January 25
4.3
Nice old hotel with a lot of character.
Placed in the centre of town.
We were very comfortable and felt very welcome.
Mind that there is no lifts in the hotel, but we were kindly moved to a lower floor.
4.3
Lovely staff but could do with an upgrade rooms too outdated we also certain rooms are very small awful to stay in . Fantastic vegan breakfast and lovely dining and staff
4.3
This hotel is great but do not follow the satnav to find the car park.
The room was warm but a fan was supplied.
4.3
Quirky place. Comfortable bed. Good quality bed linen.
Common areas need updating. Banisters in need of painting. No air con. Some outside window frames visibly rotten. This did not detract from my stay but it would not take much effort to address these issues.
4.3
There was nobody at reception when we arrived so went to the bar where we waited for the bar staff to stop serving to check us in. Food was beautiful and waitresses lovely but had hardly any sleep due to the noisy wedding that was being held and the REALLY loud seagulls !!

Lovely hotel and staff

I have stayed here before and it’s been fine, but the small room I had this time I could only open the 1 window about 3 inches and it just happened to be 27 degrees, but to keep the window open I had to use the jug for filling up the iron cause it wouldn’t stay open, the fan provided was very dusty and made so much noise. The noise from the street racers is awful worse than it has ever been, and at 5.30am a member of staff is cleaning the patio and scraping every chair across it, really not a pleasant trip this time. The food is good, the staff are always pleasant but I will be looking elsewhere for next time due to mainly the street noise.

Liked the fact that breakfast was included. Serving staff were helpful, and good in dealing with odd requests for food and drinks.
Food and drinks were of good standard at breakfast and dining.
Rooms on the top floor, which we had, was both tiring to get too, and extremely hot on warm days(A fan was provided) We do not class ourselves as disabled, but found the climb difficult for us, as pensioners.
Location by the river should have been idyllic, but was spoiled by seagull noise in the mornings, and boy racers charging by in the evenings. Admittedly not the hotels fault, but did not help the ambience, and would definitely not have eaten outside for fear of gulls.
Parking was good, with two car parks availble with fair amount of spaces.
Would certainly book a bigger room on a lower floor if we stayed again, but would maybe stay at a hotel that was further out from the river and main roads.
4.3
Everyone at the hotel were very friendly. The room was large and comfortable no problems during our stay.
4.3
The hotel had no lifts, it is old but makes up for it in character.
4.3
Quirky building, beautiful rooms. Great bathrooms,. Lovely breakfast. Fantastic location.
4.3
Used as a stopover during trip up north. Staff were friendly and the restaurant was good. We had our little dog with us and they left some treats in the room which was a lovely touch.
Hotel is a bit dated in parts but our bathroom was luxurious.
4.3
Super place to stay! Food is excellent.

Staff were very helpfulVery clean Hotel. Not sure if I missed it but you need a 🏞️ ng voucher for their car park, but I had to park a half a mile away and walk to the hotel for them to tell me that.Lots of stairs and if you have booked a room on the second or third floors you will need to be fit to carry your luggage.Room was very clean but very small and if you are anywhere near a larger person you will be knocking over things. Also of you are a little claustrophobic the hallways are really tiny.My room was overlooking theain area which was nice, but noisy and the room was so hot I had to have the window open O get that it's an old coaching inn and space is at a premium but they really need to tell people about the parking area.

The food was very good, but the rooms are dated.

The White Hart is in a lovely spot, beside the river and close to the beautiful St Botolph's church, which is well worth a visit. Inside the hotel, there are several different public areas to have a coffee, to read and relax, as well as the more formal dining, breakfast and bar areas , and with riverside tables outside. All of the staff were incredibly well trained and helpful. I had one of a handful of rooms which was hit by an electrical fault late on my last night. The young lady who was duty manager dealt with this in textbook fashion--checking the fuseboard, immediately offering me a different room (I declined as it was late and I just wanted to sleep!), and showing calmness, capability and concern, and a determination to solve the problem. I'm so sorry that I didn't take her name, but she was a shining example of brilliant customer service!
4.3
Had a lovely spacious room and the evening meal was delicious. Car park tricky to find but had plenty of space
4.3
A quiet en-suite room was requested and provided. The room was congested because it had a double bed in it. A single bed would be much better and there would be more space to move around.
4.3
This is a great hotel with great rooms, great staff and an excellent restaurant. The Hotel staff are some of the most friendly and attentive i have come across across many trips home and abroad and the management team deserve great credit in having such a good team onboard

We had booked a superior room on your website but in reality it was terribly situated at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park and bins and the exhaust fans from the kitchen. The noise and bad language emanating from the hostelries the other side of the river was appalling. The so called restaurant was an extension of the public bar and on the Friday night there was extremely loud live entertainment making it impossible to have a normal conversation in the restaurant. Furthermore guests were checking out on the Saturday morning as a result of the aforementioned. Also we thought that it was totally inappropriate for cleaning staff carrying mops and buckets and toilet brushes to be traversing the breakfast room whilst customers were eating. The car park immediately at the rear of the hotel which is a target for drunken customers from the pubs opposite and my car was damaged by a bottle thrown across the river on the Saturday night. We had booked for 4 nights but checked out 2 days early in disgust.

Staff was great, however my room was unbearably hot and the windows had been made "safe" so it couldn't Open very much. I stayed in room 108 and at 5am in the morning some one was rolling barrels below my room and having a good old chin wag whilst he did it. So that was me awake at that point. The restaurant food wasn't great, the starter was good (scotch egg) but the main was not worth the money at all. There was not very much of the belly pork but it turned out to be a good thing as it was under cooked and fatty. The breakfast apart from the Bacon and the beans was inedible, Have a look at my egg for example. Real shame as the location was great.

This was the second time we have stayed here. It is a hotel in a listed building. The rooms are a little smaller than you might like but are very well presented. A listed building, so no air conditioning, small windows, no views and no lift. Bedrooms are all on the first floor so no good if you can't get up stairs. Would have been nice if the young man in reception had offered to help with the luggage as we were obviously pensioners. Location is perfect, just a walk across a bridge to be in the town centre. Food is good although the chef can't cook pastries!

Lovely hotel. Friendly staff, will be staying again an a few months
4.3
A lovely hotel with friendly, helpful staff and comfortable rooms. Fantastic breakfast in the morning and a great location for getting around.
4.3
friendly staff, good food and clean.
Access to the rooms involved a lot of walking and stairs - no lift for customers with restricted mobility.
4.3
Our welcome was very warm and our room, which had been upgraded, very comfortable. All the staff we had dealings with were friendly and polite and our meals were delicious.
I have no problem recommending The White Hart
4.3
We were treated to a free upgrade, which was very generous and the room was amazing. The hotel was comfortable and well looked-after. Everyone was very friendly and we will likely visot again.
The poor mark for eco was because the hotel generally, but especially the room, was unnecessarily hot and we ended up opening the windows to cool it down.
4.3
Nice hotel with friendly staff, although seemed a little short on staff sometimes. Little noisy around the hotel as close to town centre and club just over the river.
4.3
Ok let me start with the positives. Location of the hotel is excellent for the town centre. Everything is walkable and there is plenty of free parking. The hotel staff are friendly and the quality of the food is excellent and they have an extensive menu for both drinks and food options and cater well for allergies. The negative is the room. Having stayed in this hotel before we are aware the rooms are small compared to other hotels in the area. However the room we had was very small and had we been staying more than a couple days would have struggled with as literally three small drawers and a very small wardrobe-room on arrival was dusty with cobwebs in the corners and around lamps but the bathroom was very clean. The main issue with the room(and there was nothing to move us to) was the temperature. The hot water pipes off the boiler run through the room-these become very very hot-they are also unlagged so you can burn yourself on them. The room temperature exceeded 80 degrees and because of noise from the street it is not possible to open the windows. The small fan we were given just circulated warm air. Room was extremely uncomfortable to try and sleep in and there is nothing the staff can do-in there words it’s an old building. The boiler also kicks in at 5 am and the pipes bang loudly. Unlikely to use again unless they fit some sort of AC which is a shame as staff and food option are outstanding
4.3
Brilliant staff.
Room too hot due to the exposed pipes.
4.3
Very lovely stay. Hotel was well presented and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Would definitely stay again.

Only stayed one night but enjoyed the whole experience. The Hotel was clean and our room was beautifully presented on arrival. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend to my friends and family.

Fantastic!
