Layout was great… downstairs bed and bath, plus great den made this house super accommodating. Upstairs bedrooms nice too. Kitchen well equipped and Tv/Satellite stations super! DVD included…played old home movies…worked great. Walk down to house from parking drive was super safe even in rain. Too many steps for old people to get to the water from back porch… over 120… but sure beautiful lake view. Would come back to cook out on the grill and eat outside…and would love to stay a whole week! Thanks to loving owners… your touch showed lots of loving concern…even to the GREAT BOOKS in the bedrooms. Proud of your faith testimony!

The home was nice and the stay was enjoyable. The photo of the property facing the lake was a bit misleading. The reality is more crowded and congestion than the photo implies. This distant property management company, Vacasa, is poor at communication. They were not responsive as we attempted to access the home, and have been exasperating to deal with for an issue I am trying to bring to their attention post-stay. I miss the days of dealing with a home owner or a local property manager when renting a home.

"I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming vacation rental cabin by the lake, and it was an absolute gem. The cabin itself is not only beautifully designed but also impeccably maintained. The large bedrooms were a pleasant surprise, providing ample space for everyone in our group.
One of the highlights of our stay was the two decks, which allowed us to soak in the tranquil surroundings from different vantage points. The boating dock with its picturesque view was a favorite spot for morning coffee and evening stargazing. The cabin's proximity to the lake made for a truly immersive and relaxing experience.
The drive to the cabin was as enchanting as the stay itself, winding through scenic landscapes and setting the tone for a perfect lakeside retreat. If you're looking for a peaceful and picturesque getaway, I highly recommend this vacation rental. It's a beautiful home that offers a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We enjoyed our time at this lovely, quiet home. The updated kitchen is great for cooking and we loved sitting out on the deck.

This was the second time we stayed at Smith Mt Lake. September is gorgeous at the lake. The deep water dock is great for swimming, paddle boarding and fishing. The cove is very private, doesn’t get too much sun until later in the afternoon, at least this time of year. House was perfect for our group. Well stocked, pleasantly decorated. Beds are not the most comfortable, but after a day outside we still slept pretty good. The steps are definitely a work out but totally manageable. Loved our visit. 3 days just wasn’t enough. Thank you for sharing your home with us!!!!

Great time! Lots of steps (100 ish).
Overall wonderful stay.

The house was better than expected. The kitchen is more than accommodating, we had everything we needed. The dock was wonderful to sit and reconnect and the lake was pretty quiet during the week. Make sure to bring everything you need, the closest grocery store is 20 minutes away- but the seclusion was very enjoyable. We would definitely rent this home again.

The home and lake are beautiful! My kids loved jumping off the dock into the clean, cool water. Getting down to the lake and back up is a workout, though. I counted 120 stairs.

We rented this beautiful house for my son's graduation weekend from Roanoke College. It was perfect. The house is so well supplied and we did not want for anything.
The pictures show it, but this is not the house for someone that doesn't do stairs well.

I had searched for a cabin for the holidays that could accommodate 3 couples. I wanted that rustic feel away from city life. In between the time I booked it in March and Christmas the owner sided the house. It was not a game changer but was at first a bit disappointing. The view was still gorgeous, and the neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. RSI was easy to deal with. Our only issue was the linens. We were not told in advance to look for a duffel bag in the living room for all of the sheets and towels. After renting several homes, we have always found linens in the bedrooms and bathrooms. After checking in after 4PM (was changed from original 2PM) and not seeing any linens, we left a message on the RSI voicemail. We ended up having to find a store and purchase our own linens as we did not think the office would not call us back since Christmas was still several days away. We did hear back from them via e-mail the Sunday after Christmas. By then we had two days left so requested a refund on the linen package. Otherwise, the area is beautiful. The house was beautiful and our family shared lots of laughter and made some memories at this home.

This house was more than expected. While the listing is 100% accurate, it can not clearly show the amount of space there is in this home! Such big rooms upstairs and down. We stayed 4 nights here over Thanksgiving weekend. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a full Thanksgiving Day meal. The newly remodeled kitchen has some great shelving and storage options. The game room downstairs had so many fun things to do! Our kids love to read, and there were tons of kids books available. You can’t go wrong with this property. We had a great time fishing from the dock, even though it was a bit chilly. It was so quiet and peaceful. The only con, there is no yard space, but the huge decks make up for that. Of note-the exterior of this house is being updated, while it looks amazing, it’s changed enough that we didn’t recognize it from the listing pictures. Excellent stay, would stay here again.

Location, setting, docks, and decks were beautiful, and the home is nicely cared for given its age. For anyone partly enticed by the nightly rate, though, we would just caution that after all associated fees, the total cost for the weekend was three times more than the nightly rate, and the quality of the experience for what amounted to just 36 hours just didn't feel commensurate to that cost. Renters should also be aware that some of the kinds of nearby amenities (nearby tennis court, boat slips, etc) that help make a lake vacation inviting are actually off-limits for guests renting this home. The third bedroom is in a finished basement, which again is in very good condition for its age, but it is maybe 30-40 years old and does have a bit of a damp, dark basement kind of feel. The section of lake that the home backs up to, though, is quiet and beautiful, and if you have a couple of fit, able-bodied people in your party who could carry kayaks, paddle boards, or canoes down the 100 + steps, it's a great place to launch from. Spending a full week there rather than just a weekend is probably the better way to get your money's worth.

This property was well maintained and exactly like it looked in the pictures. The steps to the dock were a bit much having to carry things to and from the dock with out kids but overall our stay was great.

Lovely, very livable home on the lake!

Perfect house for adult children and spouses...everyone had their own space to retreat. The living room is a little tight for 6 people to gather and the queen sofa bed mattress is uncomfortable. Everything else is wonderful.

This cottage was very clean and well-appointed. The dock is spectacular. We’ll be back!

We stayed with our family this past week and loved the house and property. It is located in a quiet cove great for swimming and fishing off of the dock. We tied our boat up on the dock all week and got out on the boat easily and often! The dock, steps, and decks were all in great shape and recently painted so they were easy and safe for even our young children to walk on. The kids also especially appreciated the toys and games provided in the basement. We loved the kitchen/ dining room/ living room space where everyone could be together, but also appreciated the privacy of the basement bedroom/ bath and living space. We will definitely be back to this part of the lake and will certainly consider staying in this particular home again! Thanks for sharing this gem with us renters.

We had a fabulous time. The home was just perfect for our family with 2 older teenagers. We also loved watching the wildlife. Saw deer everyday very close to house, The lake is so clean and clear. It was one of our best vacations.

This house is great & the cove is great. The steps back up to the house are a workout. But seriously, besides the steps this house is really great.

This house was perfect for a family of 4 with 2 teenagers, and my in-laws. There were a lot of steps down to the dock, but the lake was clean, warm and the alcove is quiet. It was a perfect lake location and vacation!

Our family visited this location for a fun week by the lake and we loved it! The only thing is be warned that the steps are brutal, but we saw it as a great way to get our exercise in! It was clean and we would definitely come back to this location in the future!

Property was great. Steps a little much. Location to food & dining a bit long and curvy. Lake is great. Drifters was terrible. I would not recommend it to anyone. We did enjoy antique shopping.

We enjoyed our beautiful three bedroom, three bath vacation home with all the amenities. The view was exquisite and the wildlife charming, especially the large-eyed doe whose curiosity got the best of her as she watched us enjoying our dinner through the living room window one evening. We also got an up front and personal display of an osprey catching his dinner while we were kayaking one afternoon. The only caution I would advise regarding this property is the need to be able to negotiate over 100 steps from the parking area to the dock. We considered it great exercise but it could be daunting for anyone with physical limitations.
4.8
We enjoyed our 3 day stay in this great lakeside house. The weather was cold so we didn't take advantage of the multiple outdoor areas, but did enjoy lunch overlooking the lake from the upper deck. Great proximity to all the lake has to offer. The one item I would point out is there are over 110 steps (we counted) to get down to the dock, so make sure you pack your cooler properly. You don't want to be making any more trips than you have to. Be mindful of grandma's stamina if you want her to see the water. :)
4.8
We had a great stay here! The house is lovely, just the right size for our family. Our child had a great time with the ping-pong table and all of the fun games downstairs. The dock is gorgeous and a perfect place for a picnic lunch. The weather was a little too chilly for us to enjoy the water but it was a great relaxing trip nonetheless.
4.8
Excellent lake house, great views within a quiet setting. Everything worked well and it was perfect for our needs. If you don't mind the 100 steps down and then up again to/from the lake (we didn't, great exercise) then you should consider this property. Overall excellent stay!
