The Garnet Owl is nestled on a quiet street with spectacular views of the neighboring mountains and a peaceful, secluded feel, even though you are less than a quarter mile from downtown West Jefferson. The back deck offers long-range mountain views and overlooks the West Jefferson municipal facilities, including a large playground, baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, West Jefferson Municipal Cemetery, and Ashe County Public Library. It is an ideal location for people of all ages. Families with young children will appreciate having the park, playground, library, and donut shop a short walk away, while adults will enjoy being able to stroll down to West Jefferson's Main Street and one of its highly rated restaurants, shops, or breweries. The Garnet Owl is one of two adjoining 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom townhouses, with each side accommodating up to 7 guests across three levels. The Garnet's sister townhouse (The Ruby Owl) is nearly identical in size and layout. Larger groups are welcome to reserve the Garnet and Ruby Owl townhouses together and enjoy the opportunity to house up to 14 family or friends in one location. The two townhouses share a front deck, but are separated by walls on the interior, back deck, and lower patio, which ensures that each offers privacy and a peaceful retreat.

Additional Information:
You will have complete access to the property during your stay, except for one small closet in the main level bedroom containing cleaning materials and house supplies. The cabin is equipped with high-speed internet and smart TVs so that you can watch TV using your favorite streaming services. Cable TV is not provided.
If you need anything during your stay, someone will always be available to assist you.
HOUSE RULES:
The Guest must agree to allow a $500 Security Hold to be placed on a major credit card prior to their arrival, and the Guest agrees to pay any and all costs incurred by the Owners or Owners’ representatives to repair damage to the property during the Guest’s stay.
OCCUPANTS
Guests are allowed a maximum of 7 total occupants at the Ruby Owl Log Cabin Townhouse at any time, unless they are also renting the adjoining Garnet Owl Log Cabin Townhouse or receive prior written permission from the Owners. Occupants include guests staying at the house and any visitors to the property during the Guest’s stay.
FUNCTIONS/PARTIES
Parties and large gatherings of any kind are strictly prohibited at the property. Any small gathering must comply with other rules set, including the noise and occupancy numbers.
The Guest must receive the Owners' permission to have more than 7 people on the property at any time during the Guest’s stay, unless the Guest is also renting the adjoining Garnet Owl Log Cabin Townhouse. If a gathering of more than 7 people occurs on the property at any time during the Guest’s stay without the Owners’ permission, the Guest and Guest’s Occupants will be subject to immediate eviction without refund.
NOISE
The Guest is fully responsible for any disturbance caused by the Guest and Guest's Occupants during their stay.The Guest and Guest's Occupants must keep noise to a minimum and not to disturb the occupants of neighboring properties. The Guest and Guest's Occupants are required to maintain quiet hours between 10pm – 8am. Violations of the quiet hours policy will result in a $250 fee for the first violation and immediate eviction from the property without any refund for any subsequent violations.
PARKING
Parking is limited to a maximum of 3 vehicles at any time. All vehicles must be parked in the allotted parking spots on the left side of the cabin or on the street in front of the left side of the cabin. Oversize vehicles, campers, motorhomes, recreational vehicles (RVs), and travel trailers are not permitted at the property.
ILLEGAL ACTIVITY
No illegal activity is permitted on the property during the Guest's stay. If illegal activity occurs on the property during the Guest's stay, the Guest and Guest’s Occupants will be subject to immediate eviction without refund.
SECURITY
Any time the Guest leaves the rental, it is their responsibility to ensure all windows and doors are closed and locked to maintain security and prevent rain and water damage. The guest agrees to pay for any damages to the property resulting from negligent behavior by the Guest or Guest’s Occupants. There are 2 security cameras facing the front of the property. These cameras will remain operational at all times. Any attempts to turn off or otherwise tamper with the security cameras by the Guest or Guest’s Occupants will result in immediate eviction without refund, and the Guest will be responsible for any fees incurred to replace damaged cameras and/or restore operation of the cameras.
SMOKING/VAPING
This property is not appropriate for smokers. Smoking and vaping are prohibited everywhere on the property. Guests who smoke must do so off the property. Smoking anywhere on the property will result in a $500 fee, and the Guest will be subject to immediate eviction without refund. If the house smells of cigarette smoke when the Guest checks out, the Guest will be charged a $500 fee and be required to pay for any additional remediation procedures necessary to remove the smell of smoke from the house, furniture, and fixtures.
PETS
Guests must obtain permission from the Owner to have pets on the Rental Property, and all pets must be listed on the reservation. A maximum of 2 approved dogs are the only pets allowed at the property with paid pet fee(s). All dogs must weigh less than 30 pounds, be at least 12 months old, quiet, and housebroken. Dogs are not permitted on the furniture, must be crated when left alone, and must be leashed when outdoors. If permission is not given by the Owner, any pet(s) found in or about the Rental Property will be grounds for expedited eviction and forfeiture of all monies paid. If a dog creates a nuisance for neighbors for any reason, such as regular barking or aggressive/unrestrained behavior, the guests and/or pets are subject to immediate eviction from the property without any refunds. Guests who bring a pet to the property without registering the pet and paying the required pet fee prior to their arrival date will be assessed a fee equal to double the standard pet fee. Guests agree to allow any unpaid pet fees to be deducted from their deposit upon checkout and to pay any remaining fees within 5 days of notification that fees are due.
BARBECUE USE
A charcoal barbecue grill has been provided for guests’ convenience. The Guest will need to provide their own charcoal and lighting supplies. The barbecue grill must only be used in the open areas of the driveway or walkways not covered by the house or decking.
*Under no circumstances is the barbecue grill to be used inside or under the house/decking.*
FIRE PIT
A fire pit and firewood have been provided in the backyard for guests' enjoyment. Please use it responsibly.
LATE CHECK-OUT or EARLY CHECK-IN
Due to our busy rental calendar and need to have the property cleaned and prepared for our guests between stays, we are regrettably unable to accommodate requests for a late check-out or early check-in.
Guests who fail to vacate the property by the stated check-out time (10:00 AM EST) without obtaining prior permission from the Owner or Owner’s Representatives will be charged escalating late check-out fees as follows:
$50 fee for first 30 minutes (check out 10:01 - 10:30 AM)
Additional $100 fee for next 30 minutes (i.e., $150 total fee for late check outs occurring between 10:31 - 11:00 AM)
Additional $150 for next 30 minutes (i.e., $300 total fee for late check outs occurring between 11:01 - 11:30)
Additional $200 for next 30 minutes (i.e., $500 total fee for late check outs occurring between 11:31 AM - 12:00 PM)
An additional late fee equal to the full price of the Airbnb base rate for the night following the Guest's scheduled checkout day will be charged when a Guest or Guest’s Occupant fails to vacate the property before 12:00 PM on their scheduled check-out date (*Note: paying this fee does not grant the Guest any rights to the property for additional night stays.)
In addition, the Guest will be responsible for paying the full cost of any refunds provided to subsequent guests of the property resulting from the Guest’s late check-out
REFUNDS
Refunds will NOT be provided for events outside of the Owners' control, such as undesirable weather, natural disasters, or power outages, among others.

This had to be one of my most favorite family trips with the kids. The layout of the cabin was perfect for us and everyone had a space to relax. The deck views and the fire pit were a huge bonus. Kelly was a great host. She answered all of our questions ahead of time and even helped answer a few questions about things to do in the area. The location of this cabin was close to the New River for our tubing adventure , tweetsie with the kids, and within walking distance of all the downtown shops and restaurants! Our favorite evening tradition was walking a short distance to the park , the kids loved it ! We highly recommend this cabin !!

We had a weekend ladies trip to this beautiful cabin. The space was perfect and very clean! The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Our host was accommodating, welcoming, and fast to respond. I will definitely recommend this cabin to others. What a wonderful experience!

If you're looking for a rental in West Jefferson area, this is a good one. For our 4 people (one night expanded to 6 with 2 young teens sharing the bunk bedroom downstairs), the unit was big and comfortable, lots of wood and nicely appointed. There was a comfortable deck, a patio for grilling out back, 2 rocking chairs out front and a 7-minute walk to the center of town (to be fair, with a moderately steep hill coming back). While she wasn't there, Kelly the owner communicated with us several times and had left everything we needed and more (including supplies to make a few s'mores). The one night our grandkids stayed over, they loved the MortalKombat arcade game and large Foosball tables downstairs.
All in all, we thoroughoy enjoyed.

Kelly was great to work with. She replied to emails promptly like an old friend. The home was very convenient to downtown (you could walk if you wanted to), home was very clean, and well furnished (sheets, blankets, towels, soap, shampoo/conditioner). Kelly even provided ingredients for smores and popcorn which my 4 young adult kids devoured. All 5 of us enjoyed the home and location and memories made!

This was a short stay at the end of Easter week. The weather was a bit wet and it turned out to be too early to canoe but there were other things to do - walks, shopping, games in the house. The farmer's market was open and full of good things. The house is very clean and has a log cabin look with very nice modern decor. Not crowded with bears or some other theme, thank goodness. The only thing I would have liked is a seating area on the kitchen level. The porch was great.

We appreciated the entire experience of our stay. While we liked the whole space, the master bedroom especially was a cozy retreat for us in the midst of trying times. The host was very accommodating and generous. We look forward to returning.

Son wanted to take a group of friends, and snowboard for his 18th birthday. Me, wife, 5 teenage boys and dog. Plenty of room for everyone. My daughter is a student at App, and came up with 2 friends for dinner one night, and it was a little crowded at large dining room table, but we made it work. Would have been Plenty of room, if it wouldn't have been so windy and cold; we would have expanded onto the deck seating. Close to downtown, but still very little traffic.

After losing my mama 2 years ago and my sister a year ago, I wanted to start a new tradition with our adult kids. So do the second year in a row we chose a mountain cabin to spend Christmas together in. This cabin was absolutely beautiful!! We loved the layout and all the little extras the owners have added. It is so cozy and just a beautiful place to hang out! I was worried about the townhouse aspect but found that wasn’t a problem at all, not even any noise! We would do this one again in a heartbeat! Thank you again!❤️

The cabin was adorable, clean, and comfortable! The king bed slept awesome! We came with an almost 5 year old and a 1 year old. There were sweet touches for kids (lounge cushions, game/arcade in the basement, books to read). We very much appreciated the high chair there as we left ours! Loved all the decor and overall vibe. Thank you!
