About this cottage rental

Our home is a beautiful and quirky grade 2 listed thatched cottage, with a modern extension. On the ground floor there is a large lounge, kitchen and garden room, along with the master bedroom with en-suite. Up three stairs takes you to bedroom 3 which has twin beds. Up a short (but steep) flight of stairs you get bedroom 2, which has a very large landing we use as a play space. Bedroom 2 has a double bed.

The house was originally built in mid 1600s and there is an inglenook, remains of a bread oven and low ceilings (in the lounge). The heavy oak beams in the lounge started their lives as ship masts. There are wonky walls and floors in the cottage but these contrast nicely with the modern extension which is spacious, light and bright.
The garden is beautiful, with a large lawn perfect for football or croquet.

A small brook runs through the garden and on the other side, over a small bridge, we have a rewilded area where there are wild flowers and fruit trees.
The house is down the end of a lane, there is no passing traffic and all you will hear at night are the local owls, foxes, badgers and deer.

The village is very quiet; lots of footpaths crisscross the fields so walking about is very popular. Bring your wellies!

The local beaches are Seaton, Lyme Regis and Charmouth. For fossil finders young and old, head to Lyme Regis and Charmouth.

Exeter is a 45 minute drive away, and well worth a day out. Sidmouth and Bridport are both bigger towns with lots to do.

As hosts we will be able to advise possible itineraries based on individual bookings.

We chose to visit this property as it stood out on the website from all the rest we had looked at in the area. When we arrived we were all so excited and were not disappointed. The cottage was beautiful inside and out and from the moment we opened the front door, it felt so homely and welcoming. The cottage was so cosy and spacious for us all to enjoy time together and also have space on our own if needed. The gardens were huge and so picturesque and idyllic. It was so very peaceful and was so lovely to sit outside and take in views and see all the wildlife throughout the gardens. The kids thoroughly enjoyed exploring and playing hide and seek most days when we came back from days out. We were very close to beautiful Lyme Regis which was just a short drive away. The property was very well hosted and we were provided with so much information prior to our visit so we knew what was in the area and what was on when we came down so we could plan our days out ahead. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

Lovely property with a beautiful garden in a quiet location. We received a warm welcome and it had everything we required for our 2 week stay. Perfect for exploring coastal resorts and surrounding countryside. We even saw fox and dear in the garden! We enjoyed a very relaxing holiday.

We stayed at this property in July and we had a lovely time. Amy was fantastic from start to finish, communication was very good and Amy was great at advising places to go and activities that were age appropriate. This is a lovely property and there were plenty of toys and books to entertain the kids too. It was also lovely to have the outdoor space for the kids to run free. The location was perfect and allowed us to visit lots of different places in the area with ease. I would definately stay here again.

We all had a fantastic time at the above property. The host had everything you would need for a stay and was very helpful indeed. If you go to this property with children there is an abundance of toys and games and to be perfectly honest you do not need to take any yourselves. We would definitely recommend the property and hopefully we can stay there again. 5 ⭐️
