"Black Eyed Susan" is our three bedroom, two and a half bath cottage in the Paradise Heights area of Deep Creek Lake. The cottage is perfect for groups looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life. Located in the heart of the mid-lake region, our cottage is a short drive to WISP, Arrowhead, Uno’s, Honi Honi, Garrett Cinemas, Castleman’s Cafe, and walking distance to Dutch’s. Those wanting adventure can easily head to Wisp Resort or one of several state parks. For those longing to spend time on the water, Silver Tree Marine is within walking distance. There you’ll find pontoon and speed boat rentals as well as kayak and stand up paddleboards. The shopper in your crew will love the boutiques in McHenry and downtown Oakland.

New as of Summer 2024: we provide a MD State Park pass for your use during your stay. The MD State Park pass allows you (1 vehicle, up to 10 people) free entry to any state park, unlimited boat launching at the park, and 10% discount on all state-operated concessions items.

Firewood is included and available at the house for you to use in the fire pit!

The cottage has plenty of room to spread out without feeling too far away from your crew. The primary bedroom is conveniently located on the ground floor and features a king bed, smart TV, and private bath. Upstairs you’ll find another king bedroom with smart TV. The final bedroom features two queen beds and a smart TV. Those wanting to kick back and relax can enjoy nature views from the deck or the beautiful picture window in the living area. Cooler nights are the perfect time to snuggle up in front of the fireplace or the outdoor firepit. Enjoy your morning coffee on the deck with crisp mountain air and a birdsong serenade. The backyard borders a wildlife preserve, giving guests optimum wildlife viewing. The well stocked kitchen is the perfect place to make meals and memories. For the BBQ crew, we offer a gas grill and a fire pit equipped with a cooking grate. The dining room features seating for eight and is the perfect place to play one of the house’s many board or card games. For our younger guests, we provide a portable crib and high chair. Kids young and old will enjoy our retro arcade game system and jumbo “four in a row” game. We have exterior security cameras that are enabled when the house is vacant.

This may of been the best VRBO that we have stayed. Attention to details throughout this house starting with benches in the foyer to store shoes and vacation items, to a bench in the upstairs bath with plenty of hooks for hanging towels. The kitchen is stocked and the kitchen table is perfect for playing games. The outdoor deck has just the right amount of natural shade canopy with comfortable chairs, and a fire pit, stocked with wood. There are just so many details and we did enjoy the hiding the gnome game! Thank you Rick and Amy, you house is a gem!

We’ve been renting homes in DCL for the past 5 years for our family of 6 and this house has been our favorite so far. Terrific location, super clean and tidy, excellent linens, and the kids loved the arcade game and the giant connect4 on the wall near the kitchen.

Stayed with adult family members and the house was perfect. Great amenities for cooking, coffee pot had both pot and k-cup options. Outdoor fire pit was great with the ability to cook overtop the fire! Beds comfy and that extra bathroom was nice to have!

Really enjoyed the place! The house was perfectly set up in layout for a little extra privacy for the first floor bedroom occupants which we enjoyed. The teens and dad enjoyed making a fire in the fire pit (with stocked wood ready to go!!!) and even though the home is surrounded by trees, there is enough clearing to still be able to see the stars and play a little Cornhole (we brought boards). I personally loved being able to walk across the street to the lakefront and bar at Dutch's Silver tree. Worry free parking was great too, room for four vehicles was excellent with several drivers in our group. Will definitely book again!

I can't say enough good things about our stay at Black Eyed Susan!! The house was clean and felt like I was stepping into my own home! The home is well stocked with everything you could need and more. We woke up the first day and realized we forgot coffee. Well wouldn't you know it, there was coffee in the cabinet🙌🙏 We enjoyed the chipmonks, saw some deer and the view of the backyad is fabulous🙌🌈. Perfect location to the lake as well as Oakland, Md. We enjoyed our time with family and friends and went the visit the UA 93 Memorial site in Somerset, PA which was an easy 1.5 hour drive. I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the DCL area! This is a beautiful, relaxing location after a fun day on the lake or exploring. We will be back!

This was a clean and spacious rental close to many restaurants and shops and the lake. Kitchen was well stocked with anything you could need. View in the backyard was beautiful. Beds were comfortable. I'd definitely stay again if I find myself back in Deep Creek.

This property has everything you need to make your stay feel like a home away from home. Plenty of towels and clean linens, lots of kitchen amenities, and cleaning supplies. The property manager was proactive in checking in after we arrived to address any potential concerns although there were none. It’s close to many attractions and the firepit was a huge hit for us to make s’mores. We stayed with two families (4 adults) and 3 kids ranging from 2-4. This was a great place for us to relax and enjoy Deep Creek and we had plenty of room to not be on top of each other. The view is also unbeatable. We will definitely be back!!

We had the greatest stay. The property was just lovely and very clean and spacious. It would of been nice if it had a hot tube and some nice patio furniture through.... very pleased with our stay. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

House was perfect for my family of 5 for our Fathers Day Weekend getaway. Location was close enough to the activities but far enough away we were able to enjoy peace and quiet around a fire in the backyard nightly. Home was nice and clean for our arrival. Rick & Amy messaged to check on us after check in, we felt like true guests instead of tenants.

My husband and I spent three nights at this lovely home, and we could easily have stayed another ten. It’s an immaculately clean and welcoming place, with great flow through all the rooms which are surprisingly spacious. The kitchen is equipped with everything we needed to cook our meals, and the living area has comfortable seating around the fireplace and by the great picture window. We really enjoyed looking out into the woods, watching the deer come by. The house is ideally situated in easy reach of all the local attractions. The hosts are attentive and encourage your questions. We recommend staying here without any hesitation and hope to return in the future.

Beautiful views in the living room picture window! The rooms and openness of the living and dining was great for our family to play games, eat together, and just relax by the fireplace. Everything was clean and presented upon arrival as expected. We will for sure visit again!

I stayed at the Black Eyed Susan for a short weekend getaway. The house was beautiful, cozy, and well equipped with all the necessities. The check-in/check-out process was very easy and the owner was available and communicative for any questions or needs throughout the entire weekend. I will definitely recommend this home to others and will consider it for future stays.

Our stay was amazing! When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find a full-sized decorated Christmas tree near the fireplace and in front of a huge window in the family/living room. It was beautiful and served as an amazing backdrop to our family Christmas photos. The property was very clean and set up very comfortably. We experienced an emergency while staying at the property and the host was on top of everything. He communicated every step of the way and was very patient and kind to me and my family throughout. We were very impressed with the host's communication and the property. We are already looking into future stays.
