Stayed here recently on a road trip out West while visiting some national parks in the area. Our stay was ok but would likely not stay here again. Note the combo box is on the front door but you will actually park and unload in the back.
PROS: location close to National parks, cute downtown area (try Exeter Coffee Company!), seems to be a safe area, close to needed amenities, plenty of bed space for our family of 5, as cat lovers we enjoyed the stray cats hanging around the property, access to washer and dryer
CONS: host has guests shut off a/c when leaving so unit was 90 degrees when we arrived and it took over 4 hours to cool down to a reasonable temp, outside of the property is run down and not the oasis depicted, kitchen is not adequately stocked for cooking a meal, description states there is an ice maker but the refrigerator was not hooked up to a water line, half the blinds could not be tilted close which we did not like since we were in an unfamiliar area, found several dead cockroaches on the floor (at least this means they likely treated for them), vacuum cleaner was completely stuffed full and we had to empty it in order to use it
With some additional attention to detail this property could be great but for us it fell short of expectations. Property manger reached out after our arrival asking how things were and never bothered to respond to my response. Only seemed to get canned scripted responses that were likely sent to all guests.

Felt homey

We planned a quiet trip of sight seeing and shopping. This home was centrally located for all our needs…Visalia, Tulare and the Sequoia National Park.

Our family enjoyed Hal's place. It was very clean and spacious for our family. Close to a nice downtown area, which we visited every morning. Felt safe and the neighborhood is quiet. About a 45 minute drive to the gate of Sequoia. Hal was also very responsive and accommodating. Overall excellent stay.

Comfortably accommodates 6 adults and a couple of children. May be a little cramped for 8 adults, but for the price, a little cramped would be ok. The neighbors have a couple of large barking dogs, but that was of little bother to us. The owner may want to consider updating the shower fixtures in both bathrooms, because the current configuration causes unwanted spraying. Bottom line: I would stay again if available during my next visit to Exeter.

Good location. Had a bit of difficulty with TV, manager responded quickly. Thank you

I had a great stay at this property. I checked in and saw the WIFI not working which was hell the first night but the next day Mr. Hal Sousa fixed the issue and stayed in communication throughout. I would highly recommend this property if you’re looking for something affordable and close enough to the park (40min). I will stay at this property again for sure when making a trip back to Sequoia National Park. Thank you Mr. Sousa for the great service.

The house was roomy and comfortable for my family. It was great to have the kitchen to prepare our meals, but cookware was limited to 2 very large pots, 1 fry pan and casserole pan. The beds were comfortably firm and the bathrooms well stocked with clean towels. The living room sofa is not that comfortable but adequate and the sitting chair has wobbly legs. So the furniture may need an update.
The location was just what we needed with easy access to shopping and the Sequoia park. We enjoyed the several cats outside as someone has created a feline homeless shelter just outside the fence. When we visit my family again we'll book this rental again.

I booked this house through VRBO reservation app and paid with a credit card. I was confirmed for one night.
Shortly after booking I was sent an email by the owner through the VRBO email system saying that he was sorry but he could not accommodate me because he had another party coming for more days.
So later that night I booked an alternate accommodations with just 24 hours ahead of my stay.
Then the owner changed his mind the next day and emailed me through the Vrbo system that my rental is available, and he expected me to use it.
I told him I wanted to credit back on my credit card because I couldn’t get out of my new accommodations and he canceled me.
He has ghosted me and VRBO since that request and ignored multiple request to credit my account.
Also I had to dispute charge with credit card company.
Not a nice guy!

Very spacious house in an adorable town. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking. Updated bathrooms were very nice. Fenced grassy front yard that the dog appreciated. Only concerns were the comforter in main bedroom was covered in black dog hair from previous visitors and carpets need to be cleaned or replaced with easy to clean flooring.

Hal’s home was wonderful. The location couldn’t have been better to access groceries and dining, and the neighborhood was quaint and quite. We picked this property because of its proximity to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and fell in love with the town. Thank you for the lovely place to stay.
