Quaint getaway in the mountains
This quaint little place was such a treat. It was located right outside of town but you felt like you were in the mountains. Used the sauna and had a nice dinner at their restaurant. Everything was wonderful. It was magical in
Can’t think of anything I didn’t like or was missing. Didn’t get a chance to see general store:-(.

Completely disappointed
Really nothing except the commiseration of the desk clerk as we checked out, very disappointed the next morning. She realized that what we had been given was poorly represented . she said she would deduct the " resort fee from our bill. The campground yurt with no power, water etc could never in any stretch of the imagination be considered a resort, as we were led to believe from the website.
From check in, to arrival at our campground yurt we felt blind sided by the representation of our yurt, which had been prominently displayed on the website, It showed bath tubs, furniture , power etc. The term " glamping" was used. The charge, for one night taxes etc. was over $300. We arrived at a campground down the road from the resort. Immediately having trouble just driving uphill to the site. My wheels lost traction in the loose gravel. I had to back down and get a running start to the parking area. We carried our bags up a rocky trail. upon opening the door, we saw a bed and two chairs. Two battery powered lanterns and a heater.. That's it. No water. The closest toilet was a porta potty 200 ft down the gravel driveway. We had been given two keys. A man I saw at a closed building which had been a store told me the other key was for the toilet and sink the employees of the now closed store used. I found out later, that water, toilets, and showers were 1/4 mile downhill at the campground. A man and woman 75 plus years old would have tough time negotiating the trail to a toilet at night. I feel , a check in, the clerks could have done an eyeball evaluation of us and seen that we could not handle this site. One would need all their camping gear, stoves, coolers, kindling, matches to get by in the yurt, which was really a glorified tent with a bed and a hardwood floor. Two tents with tables and bear boxes were next to us, occupied campsites. I feel the Desolation Hope Valley Hotel should reimburse us for more than the 45 dollar " resort fee" there was definitely a fee but where was the resort? No water, porta potty, and a 15 minute walk to the showers is definitely not a resort.

Disappointing
It was clean, pretty awesome the spot, we saw the mountains trough the window, the staff was amazing ☺️
We don’t have bathroom, water or energy at the room, i know that’s a experience but it’s not what we want, they let it know when we arrive to the Check in, they also have a private beach and I asked if they were pet friendly and host told me “oh yes! They are totally pet friendly” when we arrive to the beach we can’t in with my dog🥲

Pleasant
Cozy cabin
Huge spider in room, lots of webs in the loft area, watching the huge spider on the curtains ruined our morning and we couldnt enjoy breakfast without keeping an eye on it

Getaway vacation in the snow near Kirkwood.
Clean, renovated cabins, with free snowshoes and sleds available to check out. The sauna was a great treat! The staff were local and accommodating, and the cafe’s offerings were fresh and gourmet.

Peaceful cozy cabins in a gorgeous spot up in the mountains
Staff were super friendly and accommodating, especially given how busy the hotel was. The cozy cabin was warm, clean, simple, comfortable and inviting. It's in a fantastic, beautiful location up in the mountains, close to civilization and skiing, but tranquil and removed from the nearby chaos in South Lake.
Breakfast was a little bit sparse, but there was enough for a quick bite and coffee early before going skiing. There's no WiFi or cell except for the main office, but that's a bonus IMO.
