About this house rental
Welcome to beautiful Stone Garden Getaway, surrounded by perennial gardens, stone walls, & a fountained pond. Steps away from Westwoods hiking trails, Bishops Orchard + Winery & charming Guilford. Relax with friends and your entire family, including your favorite pooch. Enjoy dinner + drinks, watching the sunset on the sea-grass flanked screen porch. Plenty of stargazing from the patio. 2 miles to the sea glass collecting Shell Beach. A quick drive to the shoreline’s biggest state park.
The space
Just under 2 hours from both Boston + NYC, Stone Garden Getaway is set back from the road and both spacious & cozy. The outdoors is like being in the French countryside with meadows, meandering stone walls, gorgeous gardens and a hem of old growth trees. The great room is soaring, open & bright with a barn-like feel and warm wood stove for the winter months. You will love cooking at the gas stove, and using the copper sink to clean up. The old bowling alley island adds a unique twist and is open for great entertaining and connecting. The quiet bedrooms are tucked down a private hallway and include spacious baths and comfy beds. Enjoy the sunset and star gazing from the huge 3 season porch.
Guest access
The entire front house downstairs, screen porch, stone patio, bluestone patio, pond, and most of the grounds are available to guests. There is an upstairs, treehouse apartment, with an outside stairs entrance that is for the existing renter only & her sweet black lab. Treehouse apartment is not accessible for guests of Stone Garden Cottage. The downstairs, under this treehouse apartment is all, 1-story living available for Stone Garden guests only. My parents home in back, shares the driveway with Stone Garden Cottage. Their front patio, backyard pool, & yellow garage are private and not accessible for guests. Guests cannot park in or by the doors of their attached home garage or to the left of the basket ball hoop (upstairs tenant only) There are however, 2 designated parking spaces available for Stone Garden Cottage guests and they will be clearly marked. Additional parking in the back could be make available to Stone Garden guests as well! (Lots of space!!)
Other things to note
Stone Garden is named after my “Poppy”, a small town, local mason who built the stone part of this home, with love, stone by stone, using pink granite from stony creek quarry & stones he dragged out of the surrounding woods, one by one, with his tractor named “Daisy”. This is a space filled with joyful memories. Please create some beautiful ones for you and your family.

Our host was most accommodating and helpful with our experience once we arrived with helpful tips and things to do with grandchildren during a week when a tropical storm was scheduled to make landfall. We leveraged the host's dining suggestions as well as the great property which included a large well-landscaped yard with flower gardens, plenty of parking and an outdoor basketball hoop set at 10 feet for my grandchildren to shoot around when it was not raining, all in a very private and upscale neighborhood. Great open concept with dining room, kitchen, and living room accessible without barriers with excellent appliances and plenty of cookware, etc. The host's parents also were also nearby, and we found them very friendly and engaging. Overall, a great Connecticut Shore Experience.

We had a fun girls getaway—Wed thru Saturday. The property was exactly as pictured. It was extremely clean and the property was beautifully maintained. Gardens and greenery galore with a beautiful pond and fountain off to the side. Inside, the host provided everything possible to make the stay more comfortable. It was clear that she is a seasoned host who prides herself on making people comfortable. It is easily accessible to the Guilford shops and a short drive to neighboring towns. On a 5 star scale, this property gets a 10.

My sisters and my brother and their spouses joined me for a great sibling weekend. We enjoyed going to Jacobs beach in Guilford and the great restaurants in the area.
The house has lovely outdoor spaces and a great screened in porch. The great room has a lovely kitchen, large dining area and a great gathering area.
