About this house rental
We may be just a little bit biased but this fact is true!
Stunning lake + Fun updated home = 1 Hidden Gem!
This cottage on the lake is all about family fun, whimsy and a little bit of "glamp" done just right. Clean, comfortable and ready to welcome your family!
Year 'round enjoyment prevails! Perfect for families or couples looking to escape from it all. With the seasonal lake and beach activities or colder month amusements such as board games by the fireplace, or perhaps a campfire in the firepit (S'mores ingredients always included with your stay) tucked out front on the lake, it's all here to make it your own vacay. Water scapes from almost every room and that beautiful sunset every night, this view rivals our original bnb and then some! Enjoy mixing drinks in the Margaritaville machine, taking a leisurely bike ride, kayaking in our 2 kayaks, ping pong in the driveway on our outdoor table, or walking just steps to the beach to play in the lake in old-fashioned inner tubes or at the playground.
Our place on the lake sleeps a whole crew and will be sure to give your family something to talk about long after the sun sets and the sheets AND comforters are clean once again....sigh....
Guests have the entire house! The garage contains the ping pong table to be moved to driveway weather permitting.
We provide a remote mode of entry for our guests and will give instruction upon booking and before arrival. We are happy to meet with our guests at their request or leave them to their privacy.
The neighborhood is quiet and residential. In the warmer months many people take to the beach and neighborhood to walk, run, ride bikes and push cute babies in strollers. There is also another Airbnb next door and we have befriended them over the past few months and they are awesome:)
We provide a bike or 2 upon request, otherwise grocery (Aldi's and Kroger) and restaurants are within a 5-minute drive
We have security cameras on the exterior at entries both for your safety and ours. Cameras reflect images outside only. The base unit is behind TV in main living area and needs to remain intact during all guest stays.
- No additional guests beyond those included on the reservation or without prior approval for your liability and ours.
Please bring the outdoor furniture cushions inside at night or during rain.
-Our cleaning team works very hard! Our fee covers basic cleaning like laundry, floors, windows and stocking of toiletries. Please clean up your own messes in the kitchen, at the stove, garbage etc.
-We are a "no shoes type of family" and we hope that you can tell we take pride in our surroundings. With that said we prefer that you refrain from shoes in the house as much as possible and off the furniture.
- Quiet hours after 9pm please.... neighbors.
- The pond behind the house is actually a private "toad" pond... free to look but not ours. Although it's tempting to throw a pole in, we try not to. And trust us, we haven't caught a fish yet!
- No street parking which is strictly enforced by the city and park departments. Driveway accommodates 4 cars easily. Street is one way heading southwest. All ages count toward the guest count and will be updated accordingly.

We loved our stay! Incredibly clean and comfortable, the bikes/kayaks were so fun to use, and the smores kit was the sweetest gesture. Would love to visit again!

We had the best time at this rental! The amenities and hosts were wonderful. The included kayaks and bikes made our stay extra fun for our kids. Minutes walk from a great little beach which is calm and perfect for kids. Nice neighborhood with pleasant residents. Super clean, there was a smores kit waiting for us which was a great little treat. Host was responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay again! Hiighly recommend for families with kids of any age.

We loved our 10 day stay while we visited family in La Porte. The house is quaint, cozy, and beautiful. We are picky about cleanliness and it definitely met our standards. The hosts were awesome and even came over within an hour to check on a maintenance concern. The layout is a bit unique (fridge in laundry/mud room and small second bath that is away from bedrooms), but we managed just fine even with a full house. The location is great too- on a lovely lake within easy walking distance to playground.

We only stayed one night for an event in town but would 100% stay there again, or in one of the host's other properties! Everything was clean and comfortable, the beds were great, the view was so pretty, absolutely wonderful!

We were so happy about the location of this home. We had plenty of space and sleeping accommodations. We travelled with our daughter, her husband and their 3 children. The kitchen was well equipped to handle all of our cooking needs. The washer and dryer was a plus! Everything worked well and was very clean upon our arrival. We enjoyed our stay!!! (Very good hosts!)

My family and I drove in from Colorado the day after Christmas to visit our Indiana Family and had a wonderful stay at this quaint lake house in LaPorte. It’s beautifully laid out and decorated and provided plenty of space for us to gather together, or spend downtime alone. The hosts were wonderful and gave great guidance and reviews of local restaurants and things to do. My husband enjoyed walks along the lake out front, even with the December fog. It was a great winter visit, and I’m sure it’s even more spectacular in the spring and summer!

It was very clean, everything we needed was there and the view was beautiful. If we could give it more than a 5 we would.

Traveled to Laporte for a girls getaway. Was the perfect quiet little neighborhood. The house had everything we needed and was extremely clean.

The house is adorable, has everything you need. My, has the lake neighborhood made some upgrades. The designated walking path and seated areas around the lake were great. Friendliest of people you’ll meet! Jamie is amazing to communicate with and makes sure your stay is comfortable and great. Weather was not in our favor, so as much as we wanted to just beach it for 3 days we took ourselves outward. Saint Joe and New Buffalo were close enough to keep us busy. A few cute antique shops in downtown LaPorte did as well. Can’t wait to come back again!

We truly enjoyed the peacefulness of the area. The rental is beautifully decorated, very clean, & quaint. Waking up to a lake view was the highlight! Playing ping pong was so much fun , but a new set of paddles & balls would have been nice . Kitchen was well stocked, extra towels for bathroom & beach, etc…amenities were well thought out for renters needs! There’s a nice little beach area just a little ways from rental where you can park & spend a day! We rented a fishing pontoon at Pine Lake rentals which was affordable( no deposit hold which is great) & caught a 9 inch bluegill & a 2 lb large mouth bass!! Fun fun!! Overall a very pleasant stay! Thank you for the memories :)

We enjoyed our stay. Owners seemed nice enough, though I did get a message about using the kayaks that I felt was a bit intrusive. I'll spare the details because we did enjoy the trip.

This was a great property for us! We loved the kayaks and how close it was to the Sand Dunes, Michigan City, Lake Michigan, etc.
Wonderful hosts!

The house was nice and in a good location. There are some furniture/accessory type items that could be added for more convenience. We did experience some frustration over the communication regarding the pontoon boat. However, we had a pleasant stay overall.

My cousin & I took our adult daughters here for a girls trip. Everything was so nice. The house was very clean & had everything we needed. We loved the area. Had an awesome weekend. Will probably return with my grandkids. Just FYI- the ice maker isn’t hooked up, so be sure to bring ice.

We had a great time while staying here. Everything was clean and well kept and the area was fantastic. Jamie was very quick to respond to any questions that I had and she even went as far as to make some recommendations for food and a park to visit. Didn't catch any fish, but saw them jumping every morning and evening. We visited the beach, which is in sight of the house, several times during our stay.

It's a lovely property on a quiet lake, with kayaks available for use. We found the lake to be a wonderful place to be -- whether looking out over it from the front of the house or being on it on the kayaks. Very quiet, peaceful and pretty clear water. The path around the lake is great for walking and okay for biking. The house is comfortable with nice decor and the kitchen is well equipped if you're looking to make your own meals while there. There are also some great little restaurants in town that include vegan options. Plenty of towels, laundry detergent, comfortable bedding, etc as well.
Cons: The bikes are old and not very impressive, although they do work. The roads beyond the short lake path are too curvy and fast traveled for biking to feel totally safe. The kitchen sink has a constant, annoying drip. (I'm sure they would have fixed it had we reached out, but it also feels that's the sort of thing that should've already been taken care of.) It was hard to find at night, with no numbers on the house. They were not flexible at all on check-out time, unless we paid more money for another day (albeit discounted). $100 when we were just looking for an extra hour, even after sharing that one person in our group has chronic insomnia came across as a bit too inflexible. One of the bedrooms is all glass on two walls and no closet, so keep that in mind for anyone who wakes easily when the sun comes steaming in, as the blinds don't do much to block it out. That room also doesn't have complete privacy as there's a gap between the first set of pocket doors and one of the pocket doors on the second set was off its track, so you could see through from the living room into that bedroom even both sets of pocket doors were closed. The TV options were very limited, with just Netflix and YouTube.
All in all, a peaceful retreat and although we were 3 adults, we could see how it could work well for families. Great if you're looking for a quiet getaway with some nature right outside your doorstep.

Very clean and fresh property with lake view and easy access to beach, park and wooded trails. Was pleasantly surprised to find a natural gas weber grill in the backyard which I didn't see in the listing.

We had an amazing girls weekend at Jamie and Brian’s house. The house was in great condition and the owners are fabulous. We rented the pontoon as well, and it was very fun! Lake is clean and easily accessible!

This property and our hosts made this a very enjoyable 5 days. The house is ideal in every way. You are minutes from so many activities. Stone Lake is gorgeous and right out the front door. You can fish, kayak, hike, ride bikes, much more. Brian and Jamie were very attentive to our needs but never overbearing. We hated to leave. We might stay there again sometime (without our kids). Highly recommend!
