Adventure awaits! Western NC and North GA abound with opportunities for recreation and relaxation. Set your sights on long-range views with visits to Bell Mountain in Hiawassee (20-minute drive) and Brasstown Bald (highest point in GA, 35-minute drive). Spend the day on Lake Chatuge with a boat or personal watercraft rental from a local marina or launch your own from nearby public access. Want to immerse yourself in nature in the Nantahala National Forest? Bring your mountain bikes and ride the first-class trails at Jackrabbit Mountain (also great for hiking and dog-friendly) less than 5 minutes from the property. Fires Creek Recreation Area (25-minute drive) is another Western NC local favorite for hiking with picturesque views, swimming, and trout fishing. On the GA side, take a 30-minute drive to a waterfall hike via the High Shoals Falls Trail or make the 45-minute drive to Alpine Helen, GA for a taste of Bavaria in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We love the #lakelife around here as well as the majestic mountains. So much to do and see right in town. We have a handy Welcome Book in the house full of dining options, things to do, shopping, hiking and waterfall trails. Wineries with live music events and tastings are plentiful! And a short 25 mile drive to Helen for tubing or zip lining.

There are several excellent boat rental places in the area! We use Lake Chatuge Marine, Young Harris Water Sports, Boundary Waters... The fellas will help you out! All kinds of water toys too like jet skis, stand up paddle boards and kayaks.

Hike or drive to the apex of Bell Mountain, which overlooks Lake Chatuge below and provides picturesque mountain views. Shooting Creek Overlook is breathtaking. Visit Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia. Jackrabbit Mountain and Chatuge Dam. Both Towns County (Hiawassee GA) and Clay County (Hayesville NC) have super parks and beaches. Trailheads of the Appalachian Trail, which spans from Georgia to Maine, are less than 10 miles from this home.
Don't forget to post some of your favorite picks! #lakelife.

Drive to the cabin, it is on a two-lane paved road. The property is the last one at the top.

I stayed at this property for couple of nights with my friends. The first thing that I have to mention is the view. It's a million dollar view. Most of the time we sat outside on the beautiful deck and enjoyed the view. In the mornings the clouds covered mountains and as the day progressed the clouds gave way to a beautiful view of the lake. You can see the whole scene unfolding in front of your eyes. It was breathtaking. The house was even more charming in person than in the pictures. It was clean, comfortable, and fully equipped with everything we needed.Small things matter is a profound statement that often gets overlooked in our fast-paced world. It's the subtle nuances and the inconspicuous details that can have a positive impact during our stay. The owner of the house had give full attention to the details. All the light switches, outlets were labelled, the kitchen was well stocked, there were plenty of instructions on how to operate eveything. The location was ideal, with many nearby attractions. We felt safe and at home throughout our stay. The owners were fantastic to work with, and communication was excellent. We would definitely recommend this rental to friends and family and can't wait to return!

From the moment we arrived, it felt like the comfort of home. Fantastic arial view of the lake with endless miles of mountains. Internet bandwidth and speed were more than enough for streaming, laptops, and phones. We look forward to our next visit!

Truly one of the best Mountain Views. A long drive up the mountain though! We found the master bedroom to be roomy and comfortable. Master bath came with a great view tool. Back patio was well equipped for entertaining and plenty of seating to watch the sunset. Being handicap this was probably not the best choice for me as the front door was down a wobbly slate path and stairs at both entrances. Inside the master bedroom downstairs has a huge transition at the door and my husband tripped over it. I order to get in and out of the room I had to get out of my chair and walk over the threshold. It would also have been nice to have a recliner to raise my feet as the coffee table/ hassock was too high. The kitchen was very well appointed but the ice maker had frozen up and was not working so we had to buy a bag of ice at the grocery store. We loved watching the deer in the yard too. If you truly want to make this an ADA rental I would put in a ramp at the end of the front patio, remove the huge transition into the master, add grab bars in the master bath.
