Perfect location and vintage home. Kitchen was well stocked for family meals. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch with coffee and fire pit in the evening. Close to all activities, including a boat ride to Torch Lake.

We loved the house! It was so cozy and comfortable for our family and we were sad to leave it! Beautifully decorated and tastefully updated. It was nice to have the private dock with kayaks and SUP to use when we just wanted to stay around the area too. Quick walk to bars and restaurants in town, but fully stocked kitchen for preparing and eating in. Thank you for a great week Anne and Dave!

This property is beautiful and filled with charm. It has plenty of gathering spaces and 3 very nice, large bedrooms. Linens and towels were top notch. Because we gathered with family at Torch Lake, we didn't have a chance to use the kitchen much - but it's beautiful and spacious. We took a pontoon tour (guided by our host) of the river, Lake Bellaire, and Grass Lake conservation area. Next visit we will plan for a longer tour. It was great. Our hosts Anne and Dave were welcoming, friendly, and responded quickly to any questions. High ratings all around from us!

We loved our stay at the Tara! We enjoyed the location, as it was a short walk to boat access, a peaceful, quiet neighborhood and a lovely back yard. We had two adults and a baby (we brought a pack & play) and our dog. We loved that we could let our dog hang out with us and the yard was perfect for him. We brought our own boat but the hosts had a dock. If we wanted, we could rent their pontoon as well. This location is in walking distance of uptown where you’ll find coffee, pastries, food, ice cream etc. the home was great and had all amenities that I could think of. I will say that the home isn’t baby proofed, but I didn’t expect that. If you need a baby gate I would either ask for one or bring one. The hosts checked in to make sure all was well. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend. If you want to explore you’re close to neighboring towns as well

My husband and I stayed from March 1-4. We got lucky with 60-70 degree weater all weekend. Sitting out on the front porch in the full day of sunshine (house faces south) was glorious! The bedrooms were super coze with great bedding that kept us warm on the cool nights. The kitchen was outstanding, brand new, fully equipped with 3 coffee makers, toaster, ice machine, oven/range and all the pans you need to make a dinner. Having two separate tv spaces was really nice as well. I love the front room with the old world charm and big comfy sectional. Downtown is super close to walk or drive. Host was kind and accomodating,.everything was clean and the washer and dryer worked great. I love a functional yet charming space!

We had a wonderful time at this cute property! The hosts were very accommodating as we checked in and throughout our stay. The house was perfect for a friends getaway with new babies and a dog. Definitely recommend this VRBO! It’s walking distance to downtown Bellaire and a short drive to other cities in Northern MI.

This is a beautifully decorated home. We loved the proximity to town and the river access. There were many extras to make our stay more comfortable.

Wow! The house is on a quiet street with a nice view and river access with kayaks, a SUP board and plenty of deck area for seating and space for docking your boat. The yard has different seating areas, a fire pit, and a steady flow of deer to watch. The house is tastefully done with ample room for our family of 5 adults. The finishes, housewares, linens, etc. are higher quality than you’d expect in a rental. Anne even had goodies from Ruth Ann’s (our favorite) on the counter when we got there! We had a wonderful (though too short) stay. My family said next year we need to stay longer! I agree!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay at the Tara. The historic home had been beautifully renovated and elegantly appointed. The kitchen was perfect and the towels were luxurious! We spent many hours on the front porch and around the fire pit. The many steps down to the river did not deter us seniors and we enjoyed sitting down there too. The cute town was a quick walk away and we loved that. Anne and Dave were super nice and perfect hosts. We would definitely highly recommend.

The house was gorgeous and spacious. It looked like it was styled out of a magazine. The kitchen was fabulous, and every inch of the property was well planned out and cared for.
Our young kids loved the Dave Pilkey books in the den (Dog Man, Capt. Underpants, etc.). They also loved playing in the back yard with sticks and a found rope. We saw deer across the property every morning and evening.
We have been spending vacations with family for the last 30+ years in Kalkaska and Antrim Counties, usually in rustic log cabins. This was our first experience renting and it was a dream scenario. The dock on the river across the street was tidy and easy to access. We had so much fun kayaking downstream. The property is a quick walk to a playground and swim area as well as shops and Short’s Brewing (a long time favorite of ours).
My kids loved the comfy couches and blankets so much, they want Anne to style our home! They also woke up each morning to make their beds(!) Each bedroom has plenty of drawer and hanger space. This was a splendid, relaxing home away from home — but better because of all the small, thoughtful touches Anne made.
The beds, sheets, and pillows were comfortable (not too firm or too soft). The kitchen was immaculate with lovely dishes and cookware. There was ample room for cooking, playing games and lounging with a good book. The towels were soft and fluffy.
Anne and David were so communicative and responsive. It felt like an oasis away from home!

The home is so quaint and calming. Plenty of places inside and out to enjoy visiting with friends and family. The only thing that could possibly be a negative for someone, is that the only bathroom is downstairs and all 3 bedrooms are up stairs. With everything else being so perfect, it was an easy "problem" to deal with.
And the surprise little gift at check in was amazing and appreciated.

‘Tara’ house has all the modern conveniences, like a big kitchen with new appliances, yet still has touches of 1800’s character. You probably won’t be spending much time inside though. If you aren’t mountain biking, then you might be fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding or simply sitting on the dock with a glass of wine watching baby deer or boats passing by. You might decide to have dinner at the brand new picnic table just steps away from the house, followed by a bonfire. You might also be lucky enough to have Dave take you for a pontoon boat tour of the river to view the Eagles nest and make your way to Torch Lake. Anne and Dave are exceptional hosts! Oh yes, the let you bring your doggies too!

Lovely little house, and Bellaire is a lovely town with some nice shops/bars/restaurants. The only glitch was when a large tree fell onto our boat while it was moored at their dock on the river. To the hosts credit, they came immediately with chain saws and we removed the tree. Otherwise it was a very nice stay.
